Whispered Wishes by Sue Lilley is a romance novel where the main character Olivia has just been left almost without nothing
because of Luas his former partner in love that is an abusive person, now sue is living in a little town in a much lower class style as she is used to, she has a neighbor that is awful but very attractive and she does not know but he is a millionaire that is hidden because he wants to protect his daughter, his name is Nathan, and Olive does not know but Lucas and Nathan had a past together, so, somehow she is left between them and things starts going very wrong. The book is well written, with a fast and steady pace, the characters are well described, the plot has twists and turns enough to keep your interested on it, is easy to read and is a light romance novel where the erotic thing dos do not cloud everything, good for this!!

Yep, couldn't have said it better myself. And I didn't, that was a quote from the last chapter which I thought was *too on the nose* to pass up for including here.

This book is what I'd call reality TV watered down into a book. That said, it's not like I've seen enough of that particular genre to be 100% certain yet when I think Jersey Shore I think unexpected twists, yelling, drama and grating personalities. I also think this story would fit right in.

This is the tale of a gal named Olivia who we don't know too much to start off, but then it's revealed that her harrowing storm entry is the result of her “mistake” and I put that in quotation marks because I think the poor woman's judgement was lacking FAR more than the phrasing she uses would denote. Though I'll give it to her that she also says “she messed up” which is better in scope if not magnitude.
But as I was saying, this is all about Olivia and her sudden move to a small town as well as what prompted the move and how her “mistake” of the past rolls over into another one in the present. And if you're thinking that it was a man, you'd be in the same boat as me. Cue cliche 'isn't it always?'

Now the rest of the tale though told from other points of view (mostly either Olivia or Nathan) is very drama-inclined that turns into *more* drama with sprinkled in moments of 'ooh you're this way because of x tragic past moment.' And here I'm hardly even tempted to warn about spoilers because all if it was just too blah to really surprise much less give anyone that “Oh! Why did you tell me!!!” moment. No, that's not to say that I'm so coldhearted that tragedy doesn't touch me, it's more that I was so uninterested in this that crying over the imaginary person's miscarriage just wasn't going to happen.

And that brings me to the worst “sin” of this book: I just didn't get sucked in. I couldn't believe it was real. No, no book is “real” but the best ones are the ones that have you putting that fact to the side and make you feel as if these fictional people are more than that. They are the stories that make you think, feel and *care* and this just wasn't one of them for me.
So all that said, why do I rate it 3 stars? Because the writing is fine, the story is fine and as a whole this book is, fine. Which to me means a base rating of 3 *despite* all the cliches including pregnancy, a secret billionaire and a wife who died in childbirth (spoilers?).
So no this wasn't anywhere near my favorite read and I can say 'I didn't like it' till I go red in the face but that's just my opinion and it's largely based on my overall 'not really my cup of tea' when it comes to this genre. But because my biggest problem with it could be called that “it failed to capture my imagination” I can't really rate it too poorly, because it wasn't HORRIBLE it was, say it all together: fine. That said I know there are other people out there who live for these types of stories so I'll just give it the blah score along with my other comments and end it with saying that this wasn't really for me and I would really only recommend this to people who enjoy contemporary tales with HEAs. Also probably fans of reality TV, as ironic as I'm sure some of the character's in this book would find that.

If you are someone that likes quirky and well thought out characters, this is something that will be memorable for you. In this tale, we meet Olivia, who is a relatively hot mess. She is looking to escape from her past, but we usually know how that ends up. Enter a cast of characters that she meets in this small town, some of which turn her life upside down. Once tragedy strikes, everyone has to work together to get something done. I personally liked the way that the characters and the setting are written, since you can get a feel for all of it. There is also no shortage of drama, with a little romance on the side. It is a not so serious read that can give you a few hours of entertainment, so check it out if that is your thing. It will make you laugh at times and probably roll your eyes too.

Olivia, after facing disgrace at the hands of fame-hungry photographer and reality star Lucas, flees to her cottage in the middle of nowhere. Having no idea what she’s going to do, she’s clearly a fish out of water. With the help of reclusive millionaire Nathan, she restores her cottage to make it livable. The more she’s around Nathan, the more she develops feelings for him. He’s a tricky man to figure out. One minute he’s kind to her, the next minute he berates her. The last thing she expects is to fall in love with him. But when Lucas comes crashing back into her life and Nathan’s daughter is kidnapped, all hell breaks loose. Three people battling each other, trying to protect themselves from heartbreak, not realizing they need each other to rescue one little girl before it’s too late. Can Olivia risk her heart for the man she truly loves or will he turn his back on her?

Whispered Wishes is hard to define but is mesmerizing to read. One minute it’s an enemies-to-lovers romance and the next it’s a gripping romantic suspense. It’s an unputdownable women’s fiction with Olivia front and centre. There’s plenty of conflict in this story but by the time you reach the end, it all comes together beautifully. You understand the characters (Olivia, Lucas and Nathan) and their motivations. For those who love watching reality shows like Real Housewives, you’ll adore Whispered Wishes. Sue Lilley weaves an intoxicating story with overlapping storylines, dramatic tension, realistic characters all set in a small village in England. The romance is understated which was refreshing for this reader. Highly recommend!

The author cleverly brought two people from two different worlds together in this sweet and cheeky romance. The two protagonists couldn't be more different, and yet, their circumstances force them to meet, fall in love and conquer the odds. I love how Sue Lilley brings every character to life, from the grumpy old man to the dog and the little girl (trying to avoid spoilers here, haha). And she does that with very little effort, and even less words. Brilliant! The whole story has sn 'I can't believe I could actually belong here, but I want to' feel to it, which makes for a delightful read, full of nail-biting twists and turns. Can only recommend, if you are looking for something light, entertaining and easy to follow.
