About the author

Carolyn Ruffles is the author of both contemporary and historical fiction laced with mystery, romance and suspense. She loves reading books which tell a compelling story: books with drama and emotional depth; books which keep her reading late into the night and then have a satisfying ending. That is what she strives to write. She is also fascinated by human interest stories – ordinary people embroiled in extraordinary situations and learning about themselves in the process.
Having retired from teaching, she wrote her first book, The Girl in the Scrapbook, which was published in November, 2018. Who To Trust, followed in March 2020 and The Vanishing Encore is her third novel. If you wish to find out more about her and her books, she has a website https://carolynrufflesauthor.com. By signing up to her readers’ list, you will receive the link to a free short story, Memories Forgotten, about a subject very close to her heart.
Carolyn lives in Norfolk with her husband Mark. When she is not reading or writing, she loves dog walking, playing badminton, gardening (in moderation – no weeding and a little light pruning is her preference) and looking after her two beautiful grandsons. She also loves spending time with family and friends, especially if there’s a glass of wine involved!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2021Anna thinks she is the daughter of Geoffrey and Mariella. Serena thinks she is the daughter that was kidnapped long ago. Carolyn Ruffles has once again created a drama that will scare any parent. Just what is going on? How can Anna know Who To Trust?

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly fantastic book!
Who To Trust by Carolyn Ruffles is definitely a brilliant book!
I appreciated reading every word and I loved the main character Anna and how innocent, truthful and adorable she is.
It was really hard putting this thriller down and I couldn't wait to get to the end to find out who Anna should trust.
The characters and scenes have stayed in my mind and heart long after I finished reading the book.
I loved the story so much to the point that at the end I tried to summarize it to my family.
Carolyn Ruffles is definitely a talented writer for she could beautifully immerse us, as readers, in the universe of her story. I look forward to reading more of her books.
I recommend this splendid romantic thriller to everyone who loves excellent written stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic: Twists and Turns, Relatable Character, Suspense
Fantastic book - it grips you from the first page and the author keeps piling on the twists and turns and the suspense. I stayed up reading late into the morning thinking just one more chapter ... just one more chapter ...
Anna, the central character, is likeable and relatable. As the title of the book suggests, Anna's world crumbles about her as first one person, then another is not who they seem.
As long-buried secrets re-emerge, the danger escalates, the tension mounts and the suspense grows.
Thoroughly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Crime, love & deception - a must read!
This book was a very welcome distraction from the current situation (Covid 19) we find ourselves in. Despite having little time to read, I felt myself squeezing in a few pages here & there. I became completely absorbed in the life of main character Anna & was keen to find out what would happen next. Without giving too much away, I'd love to read a second book to this one. I feel Anna's & surrounding characters stories could continue in another compelling read.
