The Sapphiran Agenda (Star Trails Tetralogy) Kindle Edition
His world is occupied by his species of telepathic walking plants as well as a race of blue-skinned, cannibalistic pygmies who worship them as gods. Encounters with humans generally don't end well. Face it, humans are omnivorous and plants a popular source of nourishment. Attempt this on Sapphira, however, and the food chain is likely to reverse rather abruptly.
If you've read Beyond the Hidden Sky you've already met the Sapphirans as well as Thyron and experienced his botanical wisdom. This short story is a prequel to his adventures in The Star Trails Tetralogy.

About the author

Marcha Fox writes in a variety of genres from cross-cultural thrillers to hard science fiction and astrology. While raising six children she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Utah State University which resulted in a 21+ year career at NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. When she retired she turned to writing full-time, which had always been her dream.
Her most recent literary work is the cross-cultural trilogy, "The Dead Horse Canyon Saga," coauthored with Pete Risingsun. A masterful blend of modern day conspiracy thriller with Cheyenne history and cultural practices, the first two books collected a total of ten awards with the grand finale released in January 2025.
Other fiction work includes "The Star Trails Tetralogy," a multi-volume STEM-friendly science fiction series designed for youth with an interest in science. The series is also available as audiobooks narrated by T.W. Ashworth.
Much to the horror of her physics professors, she's a practicing professional astrologer with clients around the globe. She has written two full-length books on that subject, one for beginners and one about eclipses.
She has a passion for feline fur babies and lives in an 1898 farmhouse on three acres in rural New York State, having previously lived in California, Utah, and Texas.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2021This is my first story by Author Marcha Fox. Her world building in this SciFi short tale is engaging. As it turns out, this prequel shares background on Thyron. This character is imaginative and exciting. This resident of Sapphiran is considered a god by the other inhabitants of the plant, pygmies. He is intelligent and mentally on par with humans.
Thyron's story continues in Chapter 13 of Beyond the Hidden Sky, the first volume of the Star Trails Tetralogy, and throughout the four-volume series. I liked his adaptability to situations, and the early discussion on species evolution was creative.
"Mobility, they quickly discovered, required sight to avoid wandering off a cliff or into some other hazardous environment. In response to this new evolutionary need, two or more seedpods from the next flowering cycle gradually enhanced their light-sensing ability until they evolved a functionality similar to eyes.
Thus, this next evolutionary step was dubbed flora peda telepathis as Sapphira's first species of flauna evolved, retaining the photosynthesis ability of plants (flora) while adding the mobility and increased sentience of animals (fauna)."
I learned a new term in this story, psaid. This term denotes psi or communication by telepathy rather than spoken. The writing of Author Marcha Fox is creative, fun, and a learning experience. There are some scientific terms I enjoyed learning. I absolutely recommend this short as a marvelous way to delve into this author and consider the other books she created. I know I am.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2019My introduction to the character Thyron occurred when I read The Terra Debacle and I strongly urge readers to check out this clever and entertaining story. This short story fills in Thyron's background. He's one of the most imaginative and lovable characters I've ever encountered - and I've read a lot of books! The science is intelligent and adds dimensions to this superb series of sci-fi books.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2015A prequel to the Star Trails Tetralogy, the Sapphiran Agenda is a short story featuring the beloved Thyron, a telepathic plant. The action begins when a spacecraft of humans descend on Sapphira demanding rescue assistance for a stranded crew member. Although Thyron is aware of the duplicitous nature of omnivores, his own thirst for knowledge and adventure compel him to accept the challenge. Armed with a stinking, motley crew of cannibalistic pygmies, Thyron embarks on a karmic quest.
I wholeheartedly recommend this story. Thyron is a great character; witty, intelligent and a tad sardonic. Marcha Fox is a wonderful author. The book is engaging, suspenseful and written in Marcha's inimitable humorous manner. Read it!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2019I really liked this story. It was well written and intriguing. I think I like it more than the main story it goes with. The protagonist here is much more relatable. I like seeing things from his perspective.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 16, 2019It is evident in this short story that the author has vast experience in scientific matters. Many of the jaw-breaking words attest to that, some of which I had to read over and over again to make a sense of it. However, these words sometimes take attention away from the story.
Throughout the story, Thyron, a plant, who described its intelligence equal to that of a human berated and undermined the Sapphiran pygmies. For me, this bordered on racism. On several accessions, Thyron described these pygmies as “incapable of intelligence,” even though they looked at Thyron as a god. This was very troubling to me. It is dangerous when authors allow their racial preferences to sip into their writing. Spoken words can be forgotten but written words are forever
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2019The Sapphiran Agenda is a well-written Science Fiction short story with a fantastic plotline. The author, Marcha Fox, has a great imagination and tells the story of a talking, via the mind, moving plant on a planet named Thyron with pigmies. Thyron 's character is well-developed and you can't help but like him. The book offers an excellent introduction to Star Trails Tetralogy, which is also written by Marcha Fox. I highly recommend this author and this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2019I loved “The Terra Debacle: Prisoners at Area 51.” So, I was excited to read this short prequel to the story with Thyron the intelligent, mobile plant with telepathic abilities and a quick wit. Thyron is a favorite character of mine. In this well-written short story, he’s stuck on the planet Sapphira with a race of pygmies that worships his kind as gods. He gets a chance to leave or to rescue a human trapped on another planet, so he takes it. There are a few twists and turns in this story that kept me deeply engaged. “Beyond the Hidden Sky” is next on my list to read from this amazing author. I highly recommend this short prequel that can be enjoyed as a standalone.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 4, 2019Marcha Fox knows how to create an engrossing short story. Telepathic plant Thyron strikes a deal to rescue a stranded woman on another planet. Thyron heads there with sinister intentions and things take an unexpected turn. This is a first-rate intelligent sci-fi tale. I enjoyed the originality and creativity put into building this fictional world and these characters. Definitely worth a read for fans of the genre.
