Sight and Sinners (Men of London Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 159 ratings

The murder of a shared friend leads a high-profile investigator and a psychic into a mystery involving lies, blackmail, BDSM—and into each other’s arms.

THE MEN OF LONDON

From Charing Cross to Waterloo, there’s no escaping love.

SEEING THROUGH…

28-year-old Draven Samuels has a tragic past, but as an investigator with a high-profile London company he now gets what he wants. Tough, sarcastic, and sceptical, he has no patience for lies and even less for people who waste his time. Even if they’re as beautiful as the wild and dark-haired Taylor Abelard. Especially when they’re talking over the body of a murder victim.

THE DARKNESS

Psychic Taylor Abelard is used to people calling him a freak. He can see past events and feel the ghostly vibrations of people close to him who’ve passed on. It’s why he doesn’t get too close to the living. But this time, against his better judgment, despite Draven’s mocking rejoinders, Taylor will get closer than ever before. The mystery of a dead friend will lead the two men down a dark and seedy trail of blackmail and lies. Add in the heartbreak of a family tragedy, and events lead them straight into each other’s arms. By the end of this night, all their demons will have risen—and been banished with the dawn.

This is sooo great…I read and reviewed the first book in this series Love You Senseless Book #1 a little over a year ago. Susan has written more in her Men of London Series and I am ecstatic to continue the journey with her.

Gideon and Eddie are now happily ensconced as a loving couple, working together at the trendy restaurant Gideon owns. Eddie, as the Master Chef, has moved into Gideon’s heart and home leaving his two adorable roommates. One of them is Taylor Abelard.
Taylor, is a psychic, inheriting this ability from his grandmother. He has been helpful here and there helping the police, but many people think of him as a freak or charlatan. This gift puts him often places him into a trance like state causing him to lose consciousness.
Draven Samuels, and Taylor meet again, when a mutual friend is thought to have committed suicide. Draven works for a high profile investigation company and Taylor, thru his powers sees someone was with their friend when he pulled the trigger. Draven has been touched with pain as well, losing his parents in a car crash, His brother also with them, now living on life support. Draven is an eternal skeptic where it comes to the occult, only believing in what he can see.
The story was so beautiful as Ms. MacNicol gives us the ultimate love story. What was it Edward said in Twilight? The Lion falls in love with the lamb? We fall in love with both of these men, voyeurs as they fall in love. As always in her writing the author shares many hot man sex moments and are these men smoking! Great second book!

Liked the interesting main characters with hearts of gold and angst. British authors generally understand life after "death" as their country has countless wonderful mediums and spiritualist churches- some deeper messages that will help many people without readers feeling they're getting forcefed. All this plus two honey pot males and a good story.

Susan Mac Nicol continues with her run of bringing together men whose pasts and current lives don’t make for easy liaisons.

We first met Taylor Abelard in Love You Senseless where his dubious gift of “sight” makes him susceptible to blackouts and terrifying emotional drains on his energy and even his sanity. Taylor is the real deal, something hard-headed and opinionated Draven Samuels, an investigator with a prestigious London firm, has little time or patience for.

Draven is no stranger to tragedy. The loss of his parents and the continuing heartbreak over his younger brother’s situation punctures the hard shell he wears into the soft underbelly of vulnerability. Draven sees no need to anchor himself with a relationship, but there’s something about the dark-haired, mocha-skinned Taylor that puts paid to him distancing himself from the allure of the strange young man.

Taylor and Draven cross paths again when a mutual friend seemingly commits suicide, though the reasons behind the terrible circumstances don’t seem to add up. Dravon is slow to accept the evidence of Taylor’s gift but once he does, it opens the door for them to realize how much they need each other.

The road to resolution of the mystery of the friend’s death, and the heart-wrenching decision that Dravon must make about his brother, creates waves of conflict and despair. It’s never a given that these two men could ever resolve their differences. Their hardships are real, their emotional turmoil devastating.

These are two characters you grow to love, aching when they make foolish mistakes, and praying they will listen to the advice of friends and see past hurt and words said in anger and fear. The minor characters from Love You Senseless play a central role in the drama that Dravon and Tay create without meaning to.

Great characters, a mystery, personal tragedies and a tortured path to final acceptance makes for yet another fantastic tale from an author who is on my auto-buy list. Five stars.

I didn't like the side story about the brother, so personally this book didn't work for me.

This was a much different story arc than Love You Senseless. It made me cry quite a few times😢.

The story centers around Taylor (one of the other roommates of Eddie and Leslie) and Drayton. Taylor works at a music shop (but has a special gift- no spoilers here; once too many times helped Eddie in the first book). Drayton is like an investigator at a firm. It was not the first time these two met, but both were pinned together to investigate a case (no spoilers again). Drayton has a little of a backstory (a painful one at that- in the end that made me cry)...

Our author has a way of spinning stories and I was captivated instantly how the chemistry of the characters work!

Thus, I’m on a roll now and is on the third book.

    I enjoyed reading it that I couldn’t stop😁...

I'm not real fond of the woo-woo but it was a good plot device for this story. I liked Draven and Taylor both going from kind of man-whores to committed partners. I felt bad for Taylor when Draven was being an a-hole. I didn't fully feel their connection, as a lot of it seemed rather skimmed over. I feel kind of gypped on sex scenes in these books, too, since Susan MacNicol can pen a good one. The scenes with Jude were very sad and touching. I'll probably skip Leslie's book, as I haven't cared for his character much. Pretty good series.

A Fantastic Book.. I'm totally addicted to the Men of London series. I was looking forward to reading this one since it was a psychic story with Taylor as a main character. Taylor is a psychic who sees things happen. A sighting he sees someone is taking his his, he discovers weeks later his identity and is shocked to know who it was.
Draven (I love that name) is a skeptic of psychics but he has seen what Taylor can do from a past case. They meet again at Galileo's restaurant which didn't go well. Draven has lost his parents in a car accident but his brother survived ending up on life support.. A great story which I couldn't put down. This story has all the emotions and you'll defiantly need tissues. A Highly Recommended Book.

    Draven and Taylor...

Curiously (well...you'll see why), it's Jude who made me cry my eyes out.

You don't want to miss this one, trust me. It's heartbreaking, hot, funny, a bit magical...

In theory, all the books are standalones in the series but I'd recommend to read them in order...

    Go buy them all!!
    Enjoy ♥

5.0 out of 5 stars SINFULLY GOOD

Seeing is believing and for, Draven this statement is so true. Draven comes across as an arrogant man. He does what he wants, when he wants and who he wants. He lives only to care for his brother who is in hospital after a horrific car accident. You begin to understand while reading this book why he is so guarded and has built a wall around himself. Draven is such a hunk and has no problem in hooking up but nothing has ever lasted for him. He can not and will not commit. Famous last words because there is always someone out there that will take over your heart.
Taylor who you have possibly met in Love You Senseless has the gift of premonition, an ability that shows him what will happen or has happened depending on the circumstances. He is only really affected when it is someone close to him.
Someone who was once close to Taylor passes away, he is incredibly shocked and hurt as it was his friend Drew who died.
Taylor knows about Draven and doesn't really like him very much, really not many would with his attitude. Draven knows of Taylor from previous investigations and is a BIG none believer of Taylor's ability.
Taylor and Draven have something in common though Drew, and they both want to find out what happen before his death.
Working together to uncover the truth is no easy task when they dislike each other but there is no denying the spark that is between them. They could set a house alight with the electricity that zapps between them. I could feel the excitement bursting through the pages as I was reading.
Just when things were good, Draven pushes Taylor away. Taylor is devastated knowing that Draven is alone and dealing with his brother, Jude. He wants to be there for him.
This was such a touching part in the story. You always hold out hope that the ones you love will come back to you but after years of being in a coma.. Draven needs to make a decision, a heart breaking decision. The tears were flowing down my face while reading such a touching story. Life can really be cruel sometimes. Everyone needs taken care of now and then, and needing someone else to be strong while you grieve. Taylor is the most wonderful man Draven has ever met. Their relationship is loving and electric. Told you there is someone for everyone in this world. This book was sinfully good. Tears and laughter always make for a good read. M/M is not all about porn. I dare you to read it. Love is beautiful no matter what the gender.

Both characters are really feisty, so there are quite a few fall outs between them. I did enjoy their banter though. The storyline was good, I liked the book but I didn't love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW, Susan Mac Nicol has done it again!!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 20, 2015
Sight and Sinners is the second book in The Men Of London Series, I had the pleasure of reading Susan's first book Love You Senseless and I absolutely loved it, we obviously had the opportunity to read about Taylor in that book and I was happy to know we didn't have to wait too long to read his own story.

I wasn't expecting to be completely absorbed by the perfectly structured dialogue, or by the events surrounding this book. The secondary characters are engaging, and each is written in their individual way.
From the very first page, Susan engages the reader's attention and that feeling to constantly wanting to read on carries on throughout the whole book, we knew from the first book in the series that Taylor has psychic abilities, weather this seems like a curse to him, in retrospect is what leads him to meet Draven, Taylor is quiet and more reserved but by no means weak, he has an incredible personality but is constantly plagued by dreams of death which fully prevents him from opening up to everyone; enters Draven an Investigator with his outspoken and crude personality but with his own demons, what you get is an explosive combination.
From the very first time they met sparks fly out of the pages, their interactions are so well described and they ooze passion, however, Draven is skeptical of Taylor's ability but it will only take the death of someone closer to both of them for him to realise the true gift he's been given, but allowing Taylor to work close to him can only lead for their relationship to become more than a professional one, and this doesn't sit well with Draven as he hides a painful secret, one that he thinks can tarnish everyone he gets closer too.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, I laughed and cried and sighed and screamed, it awakened so many emotions in me, I can honestly say not a lot of books have had that power. Susan writes from the heart and with such flawless ease that makes each story so special, definitely this one has been for me.
I can't wait for the next instalment in the series, I am sure Leslie will be fun to read!

Sight And Sinners is a fast paced, romantic, captivating and a total page turner of a story!

    5 SINFULLY bright STARS... Isalovesbooks
