Bethany's Baby (Westward Home and Hearts Mail-Order Brides Book 5) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 1,124 ratings

Sweet, inspiring historical romance with heart-wrenching twists.
Former nanny, Bethany Jamison goes west as a mail-order bride to escape a lecherous employer who threatens to expose her part in a past tragedy. When she arrives in Wyoming, she’s shocked to find her prospective groom, Joseph Milner, caring for a desperately ill newborn, abandoned by her father when her mother, Joseph’s sister, died in childbirth.
Since he’s alone on his ranch, he insists the marriage take place immediately, but in name only. Bethany agrees, hoping to gain time to plan her future, but she quickly loses her heart to the infant clinging to life by a thread—and her new husband.
Can their faith and mutual love for this tiny baby keep them together, or will outside forces destroy them all?

Delightful historical mail-order story about a young woman who was a past orphan and nanny who wanted to escape a lecherous employer and past heart-breaking accident to start over anew. Arriving in Wyoming she finds a desperate brother who is trying to save his sister's premature newborn upon her passing with her husband absconding the scene. Relying on past experiences, she proves worthy as a nanny but wants more from her hasty marriage. And then, once bonded the unthinkable occurs. Worthy CF adventure/romance sure to maintain your attention throughout.

A wonderful novel that pulls at your heart stings, full of adventures, love and mysteries. A bitter-sweet, Christian mail- order-bride that is arriving in Wyoming to find her husband in the 1800's.

Bethany Jamison is a nanny in the East working for a wealthy family. She needs to leave, her employer will not stop making passes at her. She has no family to turn to. So she contacted a Mail-Order-Bride Agency. The Agency sent her to Wyoming within days to meet Joseph Miner, her husband-to-be. When she arrived he was holding a new born baby. ......What?
Bethany is really upset she has no money to buy a return ticket!

This is a wonderful story full of surprises, fun and lovable with mysteries thrown in. I had never read a book by this author before but I enjoyed this story. The characters were believable, a few of the characters were not pleasant but needed to be there to make the story flow easily. The characters stay in your mind even when you stop reading. This was an easy to read, fast paced and interesting novel. I enjoyed the book with a few surprises throughout. I recommend this book to others that like a great fast paced book.

What I find so charming about Elaine Manders' books is how they stick with you. Whenever I have to put one down to cook dinner or to do a dozen other things, her characters hover in your mind, gently tugging you back to the story. Elaine does a wonderful job of mixing Christian themes with increasing tension- which means I have to finish the story. lol Bethany and Joseph are wonderful characters and I really felt for both of them. They lost so much. The secondary characters were all wonderful, as well. I particularly loved Grubstake- he was adorable. If you enjoy Christian historical fiction, Elaine Manders is a must-read.

Bethany Baby’s was another winsome mail order bride story by Elaine Manders. I was enthralled reading this book with the strong fortitude and generosity of spirit Manders had for Bethany. Despite hardships she endured as a child and issues when employed she was ready to travel to Wyoming to possibly become a mail order bride. The unexpected happenings Joseph was faced with when Bethany arrived surprisingly at his door gave way to more than she had anticipated. Bethany’s and Joseph’s story kept me spellbound until I finished this book. I was right in the midst of the characters lives living each tender and tense moment with them. This is my favorite book to date in Westward Home and Hearts Mail-Order Brides series. I’ll be awaiting the next book by Manders to read.

The author does a good job of showing the love that Bethany has for the baby and her growing love for her new husband. The plot is a good one but everything seemed hurried to a finish. The story needed to be filled out a little more, and the characters needed to be fleshed out to real people with real feelings. I give it three stars. Sheila Huntington, author.

Absolutely love this book. It brought tears to my eyes and a smile to my face several times.
I truly think that if you love books about the West that you need to read this one as well as recommended to tons of other people.
Bethany had such a beautiful heart and Joseph as well
The little baby, Rosie was so adorable. I wish that I could get to know her even more as I bet you that she would be a beautiful child in an upcoming book if we could ever know more about her.
I look forward to reading many many more books from this author.
