Maude's Mission (Carrie Town Texas Book 7) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 43 ratings

After the death of Isabelle's father, the last few years have been difficult for Izzy and her family. Employment for women in the late nineteenth century is limited, so her job as a waitress is a godsend. Isabelle's mother encourages Izzy to let go of the worries of the past and move forward. Why not consider the offer of courtship from one of her many admirers? The problem is—the so-called admirers at the diner are insincere flirts.

Bart Ogletree, a successful businessman new to Carrie Town, Texas, is intrigued by the lovely waitress at the local diner. Isabelle Miller is hard-working, with a ready smile for everyone but him.

And then there's Maude. God has sent a lovable but slightly awkward angel to the rescue. Her mission is to find two worthy souls to bring together. The problem is two-fold: How will she recognize the worthy souls, and how can she cook up ways for them to be together and fall in love?

Will the difference in social backgrounds and a certain family member's prejudice be too much for this clever-but-clumsy angel?

Oh My!!! The author has penned a story that will warm your heart and tickle your funny bone at the same time. Maude, a clumsy angel, is assigned to bring a worthy couple together. She settles on Bart and Isabelle and sets about to bring the couple to a HEA. Thus, Maude's work begins and the job is not always easy but she is determined to do her job and do it well. I really enjoyed this story and highly recommend it. It is one of those feel good stories that when finished you will be glad you read it. Amazon - Review

A beautiful western historical! The story brings out every emotion and you will giggle, tear up, and reread the magnificent prose. The characters are priceless in either a good or bad way. Definitely one to read ASAP!

I have read every one of Kim Grist's books about this lovely town in Texas. The characters weave in and out of the books, so I'm very familiar with Leo and Victoria and Memphis and the rest of the citizens. Izzy is one of the inhabitants of a soddy, which played a role in previous books. I always learn something from each of Kim's books about the culture back then. Izzy is one of the only ones so far that wasn't part of the matchmaking efforts of the Children's home in Tennessee, but in Izzy's case, Maude was the matchmaker. I laughed at the children's honest but humorous remarks and their antics. And there's always a misunderstanding between the girl and the guy. In this case, it was Bart's mother who meddled too much. All I can say is read all the books about this delightful town.

Maude's Mission is a wonderful story about two young people from very different social backgrounds finding love! In spite of interference from another with a well-intended, but biased opinion, they seek to find happiness... while unknowing having help from an angel.

I've enjoyed reading this story of the adventures of a woman on a mission, an angel mission. The story was a delightful experience.

This is a cute romance with its delightful angel. Enjoyable, well developed characters, some I've met before, in this sweet, inspirational romance.

This book was a really delightful read.
I would highly recommend it to you.

I should have known with Kimberly Grist as the author it would be a good book, she is just so talented.

I am used to reading Kimberly books in the
    Proxy brides,
Lockets and lace and other series she has written.

This book is also set at a time, when life was not easy, especially for ladies.
Isabella has become the bread winner for the family, as her dad has died.
Izzy, has no choice, but to become a waitress.
There are not many other clean job options open to women at that time.

Bart a local business man, notices Izzy's smile, welcoming words, and interest in people, his interest increases.

Will these to, manage to come together.?
MAUDE to the rescue, or not.
Maude is an angel on a mission, to bring to people together, she had her work cut out.

I laughed, teared up and really enjoyed this book.

Please do consider purchasing this book.
I don't believe that you will be disappointed.

I love how Maude was introduced at the beginning of the story, my first thought was that we all look in the mirror at times in our lives and wish we looked different. Maude is a unique character with an even more unique personality. Her stumbling shows that we all have our faults and no one is perfect. She is the type of person we can all use in our lives. Someone who boosts our confidence when we need it the most and teaches up to not give up on what we want most in life.
Once I started this story I couldn’t put it down. This book was sent to me by the author to read and review.
