Foiling the Earl's Affair: A Historical Regency Romance (The Spinster Series Book 4) Kindle Edition
Lady Meghan Charlton, a bluestocking who can’t see without her spectacles, takes up residence with Lady Farringdon for the Season and becomes embroiled in her matchmaking hostess’s plan to keep the Earl of Daventry from proposing to a young debutante. Unfortunately, Lady Farringdon refuses to let Meg wear her spectacles, as she is convinced that is why Meg is still unwed.
Julian, the Earl of Daventry, has decided to marry a biddable young lady but is constantly foiled in his attempts to propose by the lovely, but extremely clumsy, Lady Meghan. It isn’t long, however, before he finds her intelligence and sensibility far more appealing than the ingénue he’d chosen.
Foiling the Earl’s Affair is a sweet, clean Historical Regency romance with a happily ever after, no cliffhangers, and is part of The Spinster Series that can be read in any order.

About the author

As an avid reader, I became a fan of Georgette Heyer's Regency novels, then started writing Regency romance novels as a hobby. I particularly enjoy writing about strong, resourceful women in an age where it was thought that women were incapable of taking care of themselves and couldn't own property.
Kindle e-books have allowed me to grow as a writer. With each novel, I have made mistakes, but I have learned so much along the way. I like to read reviews from my readers and am thankful that they take the time to critique my work.
I am currently retired in beautiful Port Royal, SC, with my husband and our dog Sally, happily working away on my next novel.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2023This is a shorter novel, but it really captured my attention. I'm a pushover for a herione who isn't obsessed with becoming married. Our hero the Earl is all a regency hero should be of course, handsome and chivalrous. I I love the way Bennett progressed the characters relationship without them even knowing it. Each would dismiss their attraction, but all the time Bennett was building up the romance. It worked perfectly well what I adored most about the book is it's clean and it kept my interest. It felt fresh and interesting, I guess it just fit my style. I'd recommend this for any clean Regency loving fan. Happy reading
- Reviewed in the United States on August 6, 2023I would have given the book a higher rating, if it was not for the Aunt, she was just miserable , taking her glasses and endangering her,the other characters I enjoyed..even the younger son, I would of stop reading the book if it was not for the length , the aunt made this a very displeasing time for me. Telling her not to squint, don’t frown, good for Julian

- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2022I found this book to be poorly edited. However, the story was interesting and I liked the characters. There could have been a little more development on them I think.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2021There are too many blasé Regency novels one has to slog through to reach something worth reading. This is an interesting plot with well developed characters. An enjoyable read.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2022I mostly liked the book - the story was good and well plotted. Everything fell together in the end, there were no ridiculous misunderstandings that are so popular in this genre and the characters were likeable and mostly believable (more on that below). There was even a bit of a twist when the bad guy didn't turn out to be who I thought. Overall I liked the story and the writing style - my major issue, along with poor editing - is the repeated use of the word "Ain't". Members of the Ton did not say "ain't". They just did not. They aren't chimney sweeps, this isn't "My Fair Lady". Well bred English nobility did not use that word and to have it repeated numerous times by numerous characters jarred me right out of the story. The use of the term "gel" to refer to a young well born lady falls into the same category. Big no for me.

- Kindle Customer Carol pike (love regency fiction)with a good story line.Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 30, 2020
5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed the story, a bit different to the norm, think a bit more could have been made of the heroines eyesight, more catastrophes would have been good and funny.
Hero was good but could have been more involved with any mishaps, to do with the heroines eyesight would have more funny moments.
