Georgina: Case Eight: A Lt. Kate Gazzara Novel (The Lt. Kate Gazzara Murder Files Book 8) Kindle Edition

4.6 out of 5 stars 848 ratings

A forgotten cold case. A long dead teenager. A detective that can't let go.

Every cop has an unsolved case they can’t let go.

Georgina Harrison was mine.

I can’t tell you why… Maybe it was because she was just a teenager, sweet sixteen, that it stuck in my craw. Maybe it was the sight of… you don’t want to know. Maybe it was because I was still a rookie when I accompanied Harry Starke to the crime scene that God awful day. Maybe it was all of those things, but try as I might to move on, I couldn’t. And every year on September 26th the memory of that crime scene came flooding back to haunt me. And every year I opened the case file, flipped through it, and then closed it again.

This time though, I won't quit until Georgina gets the justice she deserves.

A 16-year-old girl was gruesomely murdered on the bnight of the blood moon. 6 close friends had been together that night. By the time Kate Gazzara arrived the next morning, the parents, kids, and attendees of a sporting event had trampled the scene. To top it off, she had to break in a new detective who was replacing Lennie. His name is Jack North. The case was a cold one that bothered Kate for a very long time, and she reopened it. Between red wristlets, strange cuts on the deceased, and a nasty suspect, she had her work cut out for her. Doc Sheddon thought that the cuts were symbolic of something. As the investigation progresse, the stranger it became. You will have to follow the investigation to learn if it was from really aberrant behavior or just a depraved killer. Another good read from Blair Howard.

Kate, a Detective for the fair city of Chattanooga, hopes to reopen the one case that has haunted her for years. As the story progresses a new team member is added, the rabbit hole in the case grows deeper, and solving this one might just require a magician before time runs out. Blair Howard’s Georgina is a haunting tale of cases unsolved. Telling the tale of a teenager’s murder, the beliefs that follow certain events, the lengths people will go to, and the ticking of the proverbial clock to close a case; I highly recommend this book and author to any lover of crime dramas.

I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.

Lt. Kate Gazzara gets a cold case that has twists & turns with an unbelievable ending! The characters are unique & this book is hard to put down!

Kate decides that now is the time to take a thorough look at the cold case of the death of Georgina. This is a case she was involved in when she was rookie and working with Harry Starke. There were five suspects at the time, but since they were all 16 years old, their parents had to be present during the questioning. Now they can talk with each of them to determine what they remember and see if there are any new leads.

At the same time, Kate has to deal with getting a new member for her team - Detective Jack North. This will be tough for her and her team since North is replacing a well-loved member, Lennie. In some ways, Kate is the perfect person for North to have as a boss as she's had to suffer through baseless complaints against herself.

An added element to the review of the case are the beliefs of some people around the blood moon and rituals associated with it. As time counts down to the current blood moon, the team rushes to solve Georgina's murder before any other mayhem happens. But will justice be served even if the killer is found?

I loved Harry and Kate together! I love Kate! She's a strong female protagonist!! Great police procedural! Harry and Kate had an unsolved case of a 16 year old girl who was nearly decapitated with symbols carved in her body. She and her friends were in a secluded area of the woods waiting for the blood moon for extra credit projects. Kate reopens the case and now the teenagers protected by their parents are adults. As adults the friends\suspects are depressed, incarcerated or parents but all have secrets about that night. Kate and her team investigate revealing murder, abuse satanic worship, jealousy, depression and guilt . Great Police Procedural!!!!

Starke and Kate never solved the murder 16 years ago. But one more try by Kate. Enter the rare blood moon and cult mania. Keeps your attention. May be a bit off with the cult stuff but we have actual similar real life cases. Who am I to judge? Not sure it’s for many readers but then again, you want different, this is it. Looking forward to another good Kate book. We get more into her personality and yes, she does date guys now. Next book... how about the usual madman plot to blow up something?

A cold case from when Kate was a rookie, and working with Harry Starkey. A young girl murdered on a blood moon, unsolved for sixteen years. It was the anniversary of her death, Kate always remembered.
Next day she went to the file morgue and pulled the box to sign for another year, but she didn't. She took the box with her and thought how she could get the chief to agree to her reopening the case.
The chief wanted to see her, Lennie 's replacement would be starting within days, but he agreed she could take another look at Georgina' s case.
Was it ritualistic or kids out of their depth.
Doc thinks the former, Kate believes the latter.
None of those teenagers present in the woods that night were willing to talk, except her boyfriend. Currently in jail, he speaks freely and seems genuinely sad about her death. The others seem keen to blame him, a thorough investigation throws little light on the event, but they all seem to be deceptive.
General concensus is that one of the friends killed her, no one else was there, or were they.?.
Satanism, abuse, concealed rooms, suicide, not forgetting murder. It's all here, wound round a story fact & fantasy.
    Very good read.

This is the newest book about Lt. Kate Gazzara. It is about the unsolved murder of a 16 year old girl back in 2004 that Kate could never forget. Every year on the day of the murder she opens the file. The story is well written and captivating. New interesting charakter. I think I like Jack. Not even one boring page! And you don't need to know the other books to follow the story. Highly recommendable to read!

This is another success for Blair Howard. It flows beautifully with a story line that gets you hooked and develops into the dark side and macabre. If this is your first read then Kate Gazzara is a sassy, independent, beautiful detective who is very loyal to her team even though a new team member is joining to replace a fallen colleague. The story takes you through the trials and tribulations that entails. How hard it is for all the team including Jack, the new team member. The cold case they investigate is one of her first when she was working with Harry Starke and definitely proves challenging with the suspects. You may think you know who it is but, as with all Blair Howards books, there is always a twist at the end. Another must read
