The Assassin (Harry Starke Genesis Book 3) Kindle Edition
It was a bad day all round for Tommy Biscotti and his friends. All Tommy wanted was a few pills. What he got was a bullet in the back. Hammerhead, Tommy’s source, got two in the head. Jake Burke, Hammerhead’s sidekick, got his brains blown out. Pretty standard stuff for the low life’s of the underworld… But what did it all have to do with Senator Andrew Hawke’s run for governor?
Who is the assassin?
To Harry Starke the answers seem obvious… but as we all know, in Harry’s world nothing ever is...

I would highly recommend. Truly a good read and keep your attention. I will be back for more of Harry.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2019As a former law enforcement officer retired after 40+ years on the job, I have to apply a lot of "willing suspension of disbelief" to enjoy most crime fiction. Blair Howard's"Harry Starke" series is better than most in this regard. In the case of "The Assassin," I had to work harder than normal to enjoy the book. The characters are, as always, well developed and three dimensional. The technical details almost completely accurate. The primary obstacle to my uncritical enjoyment of the book was the unlikely deference to Harry , shown by the Chattanooga P.D. and the FBI. Harry was way out over his skis on this one, and in the real world would have been brought back on a short leash by the folks officially charged with handling these cases. A Private investigator would have been shunted so far to the back of an international terrorism investigation that he would be lucky to see what was happening with a telescope. This book is entertaining nonetheless, with the plot twists we have come to look forward to in Blair's books.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2019The Assassin introduces two new and unique characters into the Harry Stark novels; high quality, well-developed mercenaries with skills every bit equal to Harry's. Oh, and no, they are not working together, nor are they after Harry, and yes, they have two, different, sets of morals that had me tripping over my own. The book is written with Mr Howard's smooth delivery and fast pace, but with some 130 degree, mind-bending turns in the plot. A VERY enjoyable read.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 31, 2022What started out as a case to find out what happened to a dead junkie quickly turned into a crazy ride including exploding vehicles and so many suspects it was hard to keep track of them all. Just when I thought Harry had it all figured out, a new suspect would turn up. I love the twists and turns and the suspense! His team are amazing, and their interactions with Harry make the story much more enjoyable.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2020I have grown to love this series. Characters are believable. It is nice to see a strong female character, Kate, hold her own with guys. The ending even had a little twist to it. Lookin forward to the next one!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2020I really enjoy this series. Harry is a great PI, and the people he is surrounded by have great personalities and stories themselves. Love that he and Kate are together. This story had many twists, most unexpected. That's my favorite kind of story and author, where I don't figure things out after just a few chapters. Blaire Howard does not disappoint, the store line is never truly clear because of the way Harry thinks and plans on the fly. You never know how things will end!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2021This story is four years after the last book. Lots of questions from that book were definitely NOT answered. Lots of convoluted plot twists and totally unbelievable events..Ugh! Not a good addition to this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Politicians, huh.
Politician Andrew Hawke is coming to own on the campaign train -the usual spiel, I am your superman, vote for me and so your dreams will come true. BS at its finest.
His security is being handled by TSA, a private security company, hired by his security boss, heavily recommended by his wife, Mary Anne.
It all checks out, but Harry's gut is telling him something is up.
Casey Wu, who leads the four person team, tells Harry that a former employee of TSA, codename Nero, is out to assassinate Hawke. Nero is ex SAS, a sniper who is top class.
A plan is devised to lure Nero out into the open, so he can be eliminated. Harry has a few tweaks up his sleeve, as he trusts his gut more than Hawke's security team.
Various incidents occur, the major one being a TSA operatives attempt on Hawke's life. Nero takes out one of the TSA, Tim & Bob are injured.
TSA are out to kill Hawke, not protect him. Why?
With Bob & Tim hospitalised, Harry is on his own, until he finds an unlikely ally in Nero aka Albert.
The plot takes more twists & turns than an Olympic gymnasts routine, but you keep up with it.
By this time, Harry has is own theory as to who ordered the hit on Hawke. This is not well received by the majority of CPD and FBI, the politician plays politics and Harry doesn't believe a word he says.
The ending confirms Harry's instincts were correct, and a pair of psychos play their end game, unfortunately for them, Tim has set up recording devices monitored from the next room and Harry joins the party before there are anymore fatalities.
Well thought out, intricate plot that does not treat the reader like an idiot!
Hope Nero aka Albert turns up in other Harry Starke related novels. His humour and capabilities fit nicely
