Can a senator's daughter and a convict's son overcome their differences and learn what it means to love?

She’s a senator’s daughter.
He’s a convict’s son.
Both have a heart for the homeless, but their methods of serving are decidedly different.
Can they overcome their differences and learn what it really means to serve and to love?

Realtor Dani Chamberlain’s passion for bringing attention to the homeless, regardless of the method, has once again backfired. Along with being sentenced one hundred hours of community service feeding the homeless, she’s also being kicked out of her home—by her own mother! She has less than two months to find a new place, or she’ll be living on the street herself.

Once a homeless teen, Austin Lang is now a school teacher and coordinator of the Family Table Meal for the homeless in his community. And he can’t wait to purchase his own home. When Dani Chamberlain breezes into the Family Table Meal in heels and with an attitude, his life and plans are upended.

Dani is instantly drawn to the quiet, selfless man who puts his faith in action, and Austin can’t stop his attraction to the passionate woman who dives in to help people without thought to her own safety. Along with working together serving the community, they join forces to search for their new homes, deepening their attraction.
Until both receive news that shakes their foundations and threatens to tear them apart permanently.

The picture above happens to be from the meal program that lies at the core of this book. I have had the privilege of serving this meal with Brenda. I ran into her recently and she mentioned that a minor character in the book was modeled on me.Okay. I broke my rule about reading Women's Fiction and bought the book to see how she painted me.To say I was a minor character would be very accurate. To say that Brenda captured our efforts to serve the homeless and lonely in the community would be an understatement.Thoroughly, and thoughtfully, researched and written, this story warmed my heart more than I can describe. The romance and other elements (no spoilers from this reader!) were well laid in to the major story. I was able to see the kitchen, hear the conversations, and taste the cold air as her characters walked the homeless encampments.I am truly honored that she lavished this love on a program dear to my heart by writing an absolutely magnificent book.I recommend this book to all readers of Christian fiction, and most heartily endorse it for anyone interested in the problems of serving the homeless in an urban environment.Bless you, Brenda, for this magnificent tribute to God working through his servants.

Powerful and enjoyable story on love, both on how God's love works in our lives and what it means to love one another. I love how the author tackled the topic of homelessness, giving us a glimpse into their lives, some of the whys behind how people end up homeless, and how we can serve them.

In this book, you will meet Austin and Dani who are from complete opposite walks of life but through a series of circumstances are brought together. And in their meeting, they are brought face to face with their feelings of unworthiness. Is there a chance for a former homeless person and a senator's daughter? Or will the realities of life intervene? Get your copy today to find out.

Some of my favorite quotes that show that not only this is a heartwarming story, but it will also do a work in your heart, teaching you about God and what it means to love God and love others.
In chapter 4, it says "everything I do is bathed in prayer, before, during and after"
Also in chapter 4, "you have a good heart, Dani, but don't let it rule you. The head and heart have to work together"
In chapter 16, as they are headed to a children's playground, "oh, real mature. And exactly what you need to do when you're doing stressful adult stuff like buying a house"
Also, in chapter 16, all her life she'd done what she could to be noticed, to avoid being alone. Abandoned. Forgotten"
In chapter 21, "broken people molded together by the Master Potter to form a beautiful new creation"

Brenda S. Anderson’s latest release continues her theme of helping the homeless. In Home another Way, the hero and heroine are from opposite backgrounds. One has had a privileged upbringing and gets herself into trouble by being an activist just for the sake of drawing attention to herself. The other has gone from a desperate situation of being homeless and a thief to one of respect and honor as a teacher and soup kitchen coordinator.

What I really appreciated about this novel is how it shows how people can serve others without ulterior motives. Austin serves to serve. Danielle, however, sashays in to volunteer, but she is doing so to complete her community service hours, part of her punishment for a stunt she pulled protesting. She doesn’t always believe in the things she protests. She does it to oppose her mother, a state senator. She has a childhood wound which causes her to seek attention. Like many of us with childhood wounds, we act inappropriately sometimes at certain triggers; perhaps in some cases we don’t have the full story, as in Danielle’s case. Despite her spoiled attitude, Danielle does love her mother. Through the story, we watch her grow as she learns by watching Austin. Her motives move from selfish to unselfish.

Austin lives out his faith in ways that get Danielle’s attention. Austin, however, doesn’t want any attention. He’s serious and focused and no-nonsense.

I loved the advice Austin gave a group before they visited a tent camp. He said to be Jesus, not to proselytize. A volunteer asked what he meant by this, and he said, “Do what comes naturally to you. For some of us that means talking. For others, it means simply handing someone a pair of wool socks.”

The reason I liked this was because I always am concerned about my part in volunteer activities. I watch how easily others do different outreaches. Austin’s advice assures me that I can do what is comfortable to me because then I am more genuine and my offering more effective.

Austin went on to say that it is God’s job to change hearts, not ours. What a relief it is to know this! That takes a lot of pressure off of us.

This is a whirlwind story of two people who are attracted to each other, one of which doesn’t think he’s good enough to date a senator’s daughter given his history.

Home another Way is a fun and speedy read. It would be a perfect Christmas movie given that it is set at Christmas time.

I enjoyed this book and hope you will also. I think the pacing of the story went really fast compared to how it might in real situations, but that’s okay. Entertainment seems to go that way, but then that’s why we enjoy the escape. There was one instance when she was “moving in this week” and then she “had to survive two more weeks with her mother” that caused me to pause. Still, the reason we read novels is to immerse ourselves in someone’s story, and the author did succeed with this.

Brenda Anderson doesn’t disappoint. She knows how to tell a good story.

That was a lot to unpack wasn’t it? Austin and Dani come from different worlds, or do they. Homelessness and drug addiction often go hand in hand. A good working relationship with Christ helps us to reach into these communities with the love of God, not the judgement of fallen men.

Dani and Astin’s story is truly remarkable. Dani was brought up with everything she ever wanted. Austin struggled to protect and help his sister. When Dani gets in trouble and has to work with Austin both of their lives will change. Was how much these two try to help the homeless people in this story is truly amazing. The characters in this book are all very special people. You won’t be able to stop reading this book. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review l I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could. Truly inspirational story. You will feel God working throughout the whole book.
