Pacorus (The Parthian Chronicles Book 14) Kindle Edition
It is thirty years since the Battle of Carrhae and the wheel of fate has come full circle. Pacorus heads the Parthian delegation that will oversee the exchange of the eagles captured from Crassus for the young son of the empire’s king of kings. Much more is at stake than the life of a young boy, however. It is a decisive moment in history for Parthia and Rome are on the verge of agreeing a permanent peace.
But the gods are not passive observers to the will of men and they send gifts to the King of Dura to tease him and sow doubt in his mind. And a rising Roman star by the name of Tiberius is determined to make a name for himself at the expense of Pacorus. The scene is set for a showdown between the pair and a decisive clash between two of the greatest empires of the ancient world.
‘Pacorus’ is the fourteenth volume in the Parthian Chronicles series and follows on from ‘Sarmatian’. A map of the Parthian Empire in the 1st century BC can be found on the maps page of my website: www.peterdarman.com.

Pacorus is everything I hoped it would be. I felt like I was part of the story - as though I was there. I could see the battles and tactics. I could feel the loyalty of the army and the Amazons. The descriptions of uniforms and of people was clear - I could see it. His timing of events is perfect.
Pacorus is not just about Parthia and Battles; it's about family and the events that every family experiences. It's about husband and wife. It's about aging and change. I love the interaction between Claudia and her Father & Mother. I could even see the facial expressions!
I've read some 100 books from other authors relative to the Roman empire and Rome in the East and this series stands above all. This series would make a wonderful movie.
Buy this book and if you've yet to read the entire series, buy them all and enjoy!

- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2020Does an accomplished author such as Mr Darman not know the difference between "to lay" and "to lie"? Just examine the first line of the intro to Book I and you'll see what I'm referring to! How prevalent are such grammatical errors, I wonder?

5.0 out of 5 stars A story like no other!

5.0 out of 5 stars Maybe the most illustrious moment of Pacorus.
Yet another gem in the Pacorus Saga. The author this time goes "full Pacorus", the prologue being the only moment without our beloved King of Dura. Thereafter, a rejuvenated Pacorus dominates every single page of the novel, displaying like never before not only his fabled martial prowess, but also diplomatic skills, humane compassion, and for the first time a deviousness nobody ever suspected. Take a ride along with Pacorus, as he deals war and peace in equal measure from Palmyra to Armenia, always guided by his indomitable trio of female advisers, once again blessed by the Gods, to what may well be his greatest victory over Rome. A glorious tale, by a marvellous storyteller. Thanks, Darman.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful series that I cannot put down.
Another riveting read in a long series of entrancing chronicles. I have enjoyed every one of the Parthian Chronicles. I find it hard to put them down. I haven't been reading as regularly as in the past but as soon as I saw a new addition (edition) to the series I knew I would be back to eagerly digesting the wonderful and descriptive tales of Pacorus, Gallia and the other Duran's exploits.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dura invincible
To ask for a review after so many other books have been read is not intelligent.
The book was way years ? behind the last one.
The tale was well conceived and the characters from previous books were remembered and reenforced . It was enjoyable reading
but I cannot remember a great deal of the detail now .
Please allow a review on completion as well as rating . That way your review will be more detailed and meaningful.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read
I have enjoyed reading The Parthian series. I found it gripping and, in particular, the diverse nature of the principal character, Pacorus. From a man of high principles and a decisive commander on the battlefield to a compassionate husband, father and ruler of his kingdom to inexplicably, henpecked. The last bizarre.
What I found frustratingly distracting were the numerous cases of poor spelling and misused words which suggests bad editing.
Having said that, I admit to reading all 16 books in the series.
