- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2020CHRISTMAS WITH THE CLOUDS is a standalone read with a happy ending. There are no sex scenes or inappropriate language so any age can read and enjoy. The story is set in Utah and the main character, Brian is of Indian heritage. Tracey went to the same high school and she is a green eyed blond so I am going to assume she is Caucasian. There is no sign of racial problems even though Brian's family seemed to have a lot of heart ache and live close to the poverty level. Brian was an ambitious young man and working for a local company all through high school they offered him a full time job upon graduating high school. He went to work immediately while Tracey went to college. They have a young daughter, Jasmine. Brian works with explosives.
This story begins with a tragedy. Tracey's life is turned upside down and she doesn't know what to do. Her client Mrs. Lincoln is recently divorced and not taking it well. Tracey is her therapist. Tracey doesn't have any friends and the only person she can think to reach out to is Mrs. Lincoln. She becomes more than a client as she helps Tracey get to her in-laws on the reservation and becomes her best friend.
This story is about how they all lean on each other to get beyond their grief and get on with their lives. There is a new love interest for Tracey. This is a very different kind of Christmas story. It is really just that it happen during the holiday period and how they grieved and learned to move on. It is a very good read but it was a little sad to be reading at this time. Good lessons for folks that face the same issues and I definitely recommend it. It left me feeling a little down even though it has a very good ending.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 12/27/2020
- Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2020A heartbreaking yet redeeming story of love, loss and friendship. Tracy and Brian are a young couple who have a daughter Jasmine. When tragedy strikes, Tracy must learn to open her heart to an unexpected friendship and love.
This is a sweet story of learning how to continue on after tremendous loss with the help of family and a special friend.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2023Tracy and Brian lead the perfect life with their 4 year old daughter until an unexpected phone call and people at her door tear that life apart.
This is a hauntingly beautiful story about love, family, unexpected tragedy and loss, and how life can change over the course of a year.
Suzanne Jenkins writes about a very difficult, sorrowful subject, and handles it so gracefully, as lives grow and change in unexpected ways, and are put back together in a different way.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2019Not Suzanne's best. Not much excitement. Almost read like a newspaper article! Sorry.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2023What a beautiful love story. We start with the tears of a lost husband and father. We travel with them through moving, getting best friend and parents. Finding true love along the way. A box of Kleenex will be helpful. Tears of sorrow and tears of joy
- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2020Short and sweet tale of endings and new beginnings. Hearts opening to love and trust for friends, family, and relationships. Very quick read, which I was looking for, but that left. Feeling of rushed evolution of characters; but I still thought the story was uplifting and sweet.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2019I found this a very sweet story with a heartbreak that was crushing to the reader too, but I found it intriguing how that led to deep friendships. Brian, Tracy and their daughter had become almost an island unto themselves. When tragedy hit, she gradually opened up to Mrs. Lincoln (weird she never did go by her given name to the adults) and deepened her love for Brian's parents. This opening led to her slow healing that allowed her to continue to love Brian, yet "enlarge her heart" to take in Ray. The book flowed gently and kept the me reading eagerly. Karla K.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 9, 2021I have had this book for awhile, but I just kept not reading it. I love Suzanne Jenkins books, so I do not know why. Immediately within the first few pages I was hooked. It is a fast read unfortunately. When I was done I wanted it to continue. A wonderful story of hope and loving after the death of a spouse. It is now ranked as one of my favorites reads from any author.
