Rayne Goodman is excited to celebrate her 17th birthday with her mom and some friends in their small town of Walworth, NY. About 18 years ago a plague of demons was accidentally set loose upon a small town in Oneida County, New York. Now, some of those demons, both literal and figurative, have found their way into Rayne's calm, safe world and have shattered it before her eyes. Connecting with an old childhood friend of her mother's, Dr. Theodore Williams, Rayne is forced to flee from her home to a safe house, where she learns about who her mother really is, where she came from, and why her own birth is now so important. Now, with Quinn, Dr. Wiliiams, and his charismatic nephew Lucas, Rayne is tasked with facing off against the new leader of a dangerous religious cult. In a tale filled with good and evil, a little magic, teenage insecurities, and maybe even a few romantic sparks, Rayne will need to come to terms with her true identity and face down a formidable villain in order to save her mom.

    Megan Conte is an author and historian. She is the author of "The Familiar Dead: Ghosts and Spiritualism in American Culture"; '"Culture of Fear: Pazuzu, The Zozo Demon and the Evolution of Popular Demonology" as well as YA Fiction "The Spoken Word" and "Of Sin & Sacrifice". She has a dual bachelor's degree from SUNY Oswego in English & Creative Writing, as well as a Master's in Public History from Southern New Hampshire University and a Paralegal Certificate.

    Hello! Welcome to my Author page!

    I have had a passion for reading and writing since I was in junior high. Books are treasures, and knowledge is the best tool anyone can have. I remember trying to write silly little stories as a kid in elementary school, and gradually worked my way up to writing longer, more serious works. I didn't initially plan to be an author when I grew up. The more experience I gained, and the more books I read, however, pulled me farther and farther into the literary world! I like to think that I didn't find writing as a career, writing found me and taught me where I truly belong.

    I have obtained a Master's Degree in Public History from Southern New Hampshire University, and I have Bachelor's Degrees in Creative Writing and English, along with a minor in Anthropology. I particularly enjoy reading YA novels, hanging with my dog, and learning about occult history. I have lived in the Rochester, New York area my entire life.

As Rayne uncovers shocking secrets about her past, I felt myself pulled into a whirlwind of suspense, magical intrigue, and even a touch of romance. The characters are relatable and dynamic, the stakes are high, and the twists kept me turning pages late into the night. If you love YA fantasy with strong heroines, dark secrets, and thrilling adventures, this book is a must-read.

    This was an entertaining book, but it is darker than I was expecting. The book follows a teenage girl trying to save her mother. There are demons and magic and it is a little out there. But like I said entertaining.
