Deadly Witch: A Spellicious Cinderella Reimagining (Seven Magics Academy Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.4 out of 5 stars 152 ratings

A malevolent witch. A fairy godmother with a deadly ultimatum. Can Cindy get her happily ever after, or will she be forced to marry a man she doesn’t love?

Dear Diary: My best friend is a vampire, I’m completely in love with my boyfriend, and I have the coolest job teaching Spells and Potions at the Academy. My life has never been better. So when a new student stirs up trouble and frees a sorceress who threatens life as I know it, I have no choice but to risk it all and track her down.

Now I’m in a land called Polonias filled with magical creatures, including a talking leopard, a fairy godmother who’s allergic to magic, and a totally handsome prince. He claims we must be married to save the realm.

What the spell?

Without a clue how to handle the prince, or defeat the sorceress, I go in search of a glass lyre said to have magical properties. When its truths are revealed, I must decide whether to save my old life and follow my heart or protect Polonias and help those who claim I am one of them.

Charms and hexes,

Cindy

I was originally put off the book when I found out it was a spin off but I ended up really enjoying it. New spin on the Cinderella story, a lot more interesting.

Deadly Witch is an awesome read! I absolutely loved it! It grabs you and keeps you turning pages as fast as you can to find out what happens next. So many unexpected twists and turns, and beautiful details and descriptions to bring new characters and places to life as your imagination goes wild creating all the beautiful places RaShelle Workman creates. I loved the characters, the detailed plot and story structure and the fast paced adventures Cindy finds herself on. I couldn’t put the book down as I devoured Deadly Witch and the awesome writing that had my eyes flying across the pages. It was so vivid and full of the unexpected.. I won’t give any of the details away other than to say I can’t wait for the next book to come out and go get your copy now! It’s so so good!! 😀

Extra star for the cover and the blurb/concept. This had a lot of promise, however the execution stopped my enjoyment in its tracks. As a part four in a series you might expect to hit the ground running, but you won't. It seems like you might, they are doing something, it could have been tense or exciting, however... we are stuck in the head of a character who wanted to stop everything to think about/tell us about what every one was wearing and a little bit of history and... how did the story get to this point...and... stop the ride, I want off. I'm not sure where the story starts with KU offering me more books than I can ever read there is no reason to be bored with an opening or have to slog through backstory until the story starts. A little secret, until we are engaged or care about your characters, we don't care what they wore, ate, or what happened in the kingdom hundreds of years ago. Tell us that in little bites after/while the story is moving. Please for the love of Pete not in the first few pages... ever.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good read

I'm honestly not sure what to make of this book. It was a good read, all in all, with likeable characters and an interesting twist, plus some nice romance and humour throughout. But there were parts that seemed far too convient, too much focus on what every single person was wearing, and characters that went from being absolute jerks who called their girlfriends disgusting to star-eyed, oh-so-romantics in the blink of an eye. So it was good, just definitely not up to the same standard as Blood and Snow/Fate and Magic.
