Infuriated by his goodness, Beatrice vows to break him.

Destroy him.

Let me start off by saying I absolutely love any book that is written by this author.  She has a way of telling stories that will keep you wanting more.  This is the best fairytale retelling I have ever read of beauty and the beast. I just loved this book. Let me just say I was not a fan of Beatrice when the book first started, but in the end I just loved her.  The curse was the best thing to happen to her. The storyline defintely kept me guessing on what was going to happen next.  I would have to say that one of my favorite parts of the book was when Professor Pops showed up, it was so awesome to see some
of the characters from the Blood and Snow series make an appearance in this one.  I just loved Cole and Tray, I found myself laughing outloud a bunch of times while reading about them. Cant wait to see what happens with them in the next book.  I loved the twist on the unknowns, its going to be interesting to see what happens in book two with them. Thanks so much for writing such a wonderful book, and i cant wait to see whats next for these wonderful characters.

As a huge fan of RaShelle's, I always look forward to reading her books and this one was no different. I loved her take on Beauty & the Beast and couldn't stop reading it once I started. Beatrice the main character in the novel starts out as a beastly brat...spoiled rotten and could care less what anyone else thinks. I personally hated her to start with, I mean who wouldn't?? but as the story progresses and Bea learns more about the curse, you find yourself softening up to her. I enjoyed reading about Professor Pops again as he is a delightful character and you have to love Cole and Tray :)

I highly recommend this book as it's a great start to what I'm seeing as a fantastic series!

In this somewhat strange remake of Beauty and the Beast, Beatrice Cavanaugh has everything she could ever want. Everything that is except feelings and emotions. She feels nothing. And living in a world where everyone else does is difficult. She tries to respond appropriately like her parents taught her, but she mostly acts like a spoiled, rich, brat. And most people seem to think so. Even the hired help disapproves of her behavior. Beatrice's parents buy her whatever she wants, including million-dollar cars and diamond tiaras for her birthday. Her close friends also buy her extravagant gifts to show her how much they care. And if they don't, they are no longer her friends. But on her birthday everything changes. Greg, a guy who is seeing one of her friends, curses her for being so cruel and heartless, and then disappears. In another turn of events, the very good looking Adam comes to work for her in his mother's place and Beatrice suddenly develops emotions. All of those emotions she should have felt the last 18 years have suddenly come upon her all at once and it is blinding pain for a full day. The only relief she gets is from Adam touching her. Not only does she have emotions now, but she is turning into something else, a beast. She wants lots of rare, red meat and is acting kind of aggressive at times. Turns out the world is a much different place than she could have ever imagined. She is a werecat, along with her parents, and there are a lot more supernatural creatures out there besides her. At her parents strange disappearance, she delves deeper into trying to find out more about what she is and the history behind it. Along the way she meets some other supernatural friends and finds out some unsavory information about the guy she is falling for, Adam. But the biggest problem of all is that her life is very much in danger, and she isn't sure who exactly she should trust.

First things first, Beauty and the Beast is my favorite old school Disney movie. It always has been. This is not exactly like that. It has its similarities, but doesn't exactly run right like the movie. Which, to me, is good that it has some modifications to it. Beatrice Cavanaugh seems like an absolutely awful person in the beginning. But to be honest, if we didn't have emotions and were given everything we ever wanted, how would we act? Probably the same. How else was she supposed to gauge how much her friends cared for her than by the money they spent on her? In her mind it probably seemed rational enough. When those emotions did pop up, she realized just how awful she had been this whole time. Her change is nothing short of miraculous. What I don't understand is if Greg cursed her for being so horrible, how could he completely disappear without a trace and not contact Beatrice's friend again? It seems pretty cold-hearted to me (the very thing he accused her of being). And this curse doesn't really seem like a curse. Not having feelings is more of a curse in my view. Having feelings thrust upon you after 18 years of having none is what I call outright painful. Now what is her attraction to Adam? Why is she attracted to him? Once you read the book you will understand why they aren't exactly supposed to be together. Going any further than that would reveal too much though so I won't! There were several questions I had after reading the book, but there will be more in the series. Guess you can't give away everything the first book!

Star Rating: 3.5 out of 5 A pretty good read!

I was given an advanced copy for my honest review. WEEEELLLLL let me tell you that is IS NOT your traditional rehashing of Beauty and the Beast. As an avid reader I always look for what I call my "hallmarks" and this book has them all. I was sucked in with the first chapter and the characters were so real that I wanted more than once to stop reading and toss my Kindle across the room in vexation. Ms. Workman once again weaves an interesting tale of magic and consquences. All told it was a rip roaring, wild, pulse pounding ride! I also loved that she brought back a favorite character from The Blood and Snow and introduces us to new characters, two of whom have become my favorites already.
So my advice GET THIS BOOK!!

Beatrice is cold and unfeeling. She has a problem with entitlement. She feels because she is rich and beautiful that everyone should cater to her whim.

On her 18 birthday she is cursed that unless that her true nature will become permanent if she doesn't correct her ways within a year. She begins a transformation that is painful, but necessary to fulfill her destiny.

This was an interesting book to read. It was great to see RaShelle Workman's unique take on the classic fairy tale of Beauty and the Beast. This is the second retelling of the story that I have read this week and I love that there are different interpretations available to enjoy.

This book has different species of paranormal creatures and parallel universes. This book contains many of the things that I like to read, but it fell a little flat for me. I had a hard time connecting to the characters and the story.

I did enjoy the book and I would like to see the next installment to this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the traditional fairytale??!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 13, 2014
From the title it is easy to guess that RaShelle Workman's new novel is a reworking of Beauty and the Beast. It is true that I love RaShelle Workman's writing, particularly her Blood and Snow series, but I was sceptical about how my favourite fairytale would translate into the contemporary world, particularly if the author chose to use the standard werewolf to represent the beast. Despite my misgivings A Beauty So Beastly is a story I immediately fell in love with because not only does RaShelle Workman reverse the original roles of the characters, but the plot has added mystery and intrigue. It is true that there are werewolf-type transformations made, but the author creates a new species which have their own history and myths.
Beatrice is a cold and heartless young woman, born into privilege and used to being adored. Although we initially dislike her and think she deserves the curse placed upon her, as the story unfolds we understand that her behaviour is less by choice and instead a product of her inherited nature. When her overwhelming emotional change takes place the reader is still wary of her, but more sympathetic and open to investing in her story.
I admit that I fangirl squealed when Professor Pops was mentioned! This overlap of characters between RaShelle Workman's books gives her faithful readers a familiar point of reference, but on the other hand does not alienate people for whom A Beauty So Beastly is the first book they have read by the author.
This is obviously Beatrice's story, but my favourite character is Cole. If the romance between Adam and Beatrice had not been so inevitable, I think she and Cole would have made a perfect couple! Cole is kind-hearted, caring and unselfish, but does not have the huge ego of Troy, and I hope we see more of him in the next Beastly story.
The action-packed climax incorporates all of the reader's senses and it is perfectly described by RaShelle Workman; the pace is increased from that of the rest of the novel, along with our fear level.
Although A Beauty So Beastly's paranormal plot is not surprising, there are plenty of shocking moments which make us gasp out loud! This is a book I suggest you buy NOW particularly if you love great writing, animated characters and romance! This is already added to my favourites list!

Even though I am a big big fan of RaShelle's books, I'm always a little apprehensive (with any author) when I start the first book in a new series as you never know what it's going to be like! But I was not disappointed at all! :)
There is a familiarity to the world the book is set in as it's the same as the Snow books (some of the characters from the Snow series also make an appearance) Beatrice although a spoilt B word at the beginning becomes likeable and you really care about what happens to her and Adam, in fact I want the next book so I can carry on reading!
Buy this book you won't be disappointed, I would highly recommend the Blood & Snow series by RaShelle too. There is only one bad thing about her books and that is that they end!! ;)

I got sent the ARC of this book and once again, RaShelle has blown me away! I stumbled onto her original series (blood and snow) by accident when looking for new books, and I'm so glad I did! Every book I've read I've absolutely adored, and this one is no different - pre-ordered it before receiving the ARC, and I'll be reading this book again in no time at all :)
This book was hard to put down, and even though I'm jet lagged and still grumpy from a lost suitcase (that's yet to be returned), I was able to sit down and relax while reading this.
Amazing, and well worth the anticipated wait!
Cannot wait to read more! :)
