High Heels And Mistletoe (Sweet Holiday Romances) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 67 ratings

High Heels & Mistletoe is the gold medal winner in the Readers' Favorite 2021 International Book Awards for the Fiction - Holiday category.

Call it an allergy or a family curse, either way it boiled down to the same problem: Julietta Romero couldn’t go within six feet of mistletoe.

Forty-eight weeks, from January to the beginning of December, were spent filling the position as a top executive at a prestigious marketing firm—a five-year running record without a single incident. As long as she continued taking all her vacation hours all at the same time, nothing would change. Then, the worst scenario happened: with only a handful of days left before her flight, she found herself working round the clock on the firm’s biggest deal yet, and her boss wasn’t letting her leave until it was signed, sealed, and delivered.

Luke Winslow was in love with women, parties, and the holidays, and not necessarily in that order. Taking over one of his father’s companies didn’t fit into any of his plans, nor did a relationship that lasted longer than a roll in the sheets. There wasn’t a single person who had made him want to settle down and be serious, that was until she fell into his arms... several times. Now, he’ll do anything possible to stop her from escaping his charms, including holding off putting his John Hancock on the business deal his father instructed him to close.

It’s up to the magic of the season to bring this unlikely couple together with a little help from a pair of High Heels and Mistletoe.

C.A. King's talent in High Heels and Mistletoe is her endearing three-dimensional characters. Julietta is a woman who knows what she likes: her work and ignoring anything Christmas. In fact, lying on the beach, alone, with a drink in her hand, is her dream winter vacation. But Julietta's world changed dramatically when she bumped into Luke Winslow, the ultimate playboy, a tabloid sensation with beautiful women eager to be by his side. From first sight, Luke was smitten with Julietta and tried everything under the sun to woo her, even delaying signing the contract Julietta's boss had assigned to her. But because Luke is delaying, Julietta is getting more and more annoyed, and when she realizes her beach vacation is cruelly canceled, she is determined to be all business and resist Luke's unwavering charm.

High Heels and Mistletoe by C.A. King is a delightful seasonal story, complete with the wonder of the Christmas spirit, love, and a family curse that must be solved. I found myself rooting for Julietta and Luke as their story progressed, shouting at Julietta to pull off her protective shield to accept love, and smiling as I read Luke's enthusiasm for the Christmas season. These two had a few misunderstandings that made my heart melt and I couldn't put the book down until I got to the end. High Heels and Mistletoe is short enough to finish within an evening or two in front of a cozy fire with a cup of hot cocoa, but not short on good storytelling. Recommended for all who love a happy ending.

Julietta Romero, what a great name for the protagonist who is allergic to mistletoe. Right away I’m smiling and that’s a good start. As the story begins with the last of the crumbling rust-colored leaves, I know Christmas must be around the seasonal corner. Julietta works for a successful marketing firm and is on a big project of which he boss wants finished before she takes off. Enters party boy Luke Winslow, the name on the case she’s assigned. He’s first-time smitten and she’s attracted right back. Once mistletoe arrives in the scenes the characters deepen and humiliation is faced. This is a lighthearted fun read, a good Christmas read. A good anytime read. I enjoyed it.

Juliette is not a fan of Christmas and for good reason. All of the Romano women are cursed—by mistletoe. She can’t come within ten feet of it before clumsiness sets in. Because of this, Juliette has given up Christmas and all the trimmings. That is, until she’s assigned the Winslow case and meets Luke Winslow.

This is not a case of love at first sight considering the two meet over mistletoe and a broken heel incident. Luke is everything Juliette despises—a bad boy womanizer who loves everything about Christmas. But as she gets to know the real man and his heart, her Christmas spirit arises.

I loved the surprise ending of how the mistletoe curse is broken! High Heels and Mistletoe by CA King is a humorous, fun, and magical read.

High Heels and Mistletoe by C.A. King is a totally sweet Christmas story! I so enjoyed reading this book!

Julietta is not exactly a big fan of Christmas. She can’t quite be blamed. Her family does not have a good track record with mistletoe. Julietta has it down to a science though as long as she takes her vacation the same time each year. This year may be a challenge. She’s now working on the biggest deal her firm has had and it’s looking like that vacation might not happen. Luke happens to love the holidays and is really opposite Julietta for all intents and purposes. Luke never really wanted a relationship but the more time he spends with Julietta he’s rethinking everything. Will Julietta get over her dislike of the holidays and let the magic of the season work it’s charms?

This was such a sweet story, I couldn’t put it down! I couldn’t relate with Julietta 100% because I love Christmas but as the story went on, I could see she was warming up to it a bit. Definitely worth a read!

Julietta’s objections to holidays is because she’s allergic to mistletoe. It’s an incurable condition for the women in her family. She gets assigned a new priority, one the company needs her on-the Winslow account. She’s supposed to go on vacation, but can’t go until the account is signed. Luke Winslow is rich, handsome, and he has a reputation to go with it. But he loves Christmas, Santa Claus, and mistletoe. Will Julietta and Luke find common ground and romance and Christmas joy?

High Heels and Mistletoe by C.A. King is the cutest Christmas love story! This needs to be movie. Two total opposites meet and fall in love. Add high heels, mistletoe, great characters, a wee bit of magic, and a tight plot and you have the perfect little Christmas bonbon. You need to read this, especially THIS Christmas.

High Heels And Mistletoe (Kisses Under The Mistletoe) by C.A. King, USA Today Bestselling Author - Review by Gail Guerrero

    Four Stars

High Heels and Mistletoe is a sweet book. The story is about a family who are cursed. Julietta doesn’t like the holidays. Not because she isn’t festive but because of mistletoe. I laughed at that part like mistletoe making her clumsy. It took me a minute to like her character. She was always grumpy to me. Like yes you have to make adjustments but it was not serious. Luke’s character was just as bad. I couldn’t take him seriously. Everything seemed like it was whimsical with him. I did like that he didn’t take himself too serious because he is rich. He was very thoughtful and considerate. I liked that the author talked about starting traditions. Like you can start something new it doesn’t has to be something that you’ve been doing for years. I really liked the authors writing style and how smooth the read was.

Luke Winslow is one of the country’s most famous bad boys—a gambler, a drinker, a womanizer. When Julietta Romero slips in heels on the icy sidewalk, falling into his arms, he does not impress her. He’s hanging around the streets handing out mistletoe to strangers, trying to get a date. How crazy is that? Yet the two are thrown together by Julietta’s boss, who insists that she persuade Luke to close an important deal before Christmas or she can kiss her holiday plans goodbye. How fair is that? She hates Christmas and can’t wait to hop on a plane to soak up the sun.
Just because Luke is rich and handsome doesn’t make the holiday fiasco any better. To make matters worse—Luke loves Christmas. Bah humbug!
The book is fun, fast-paced, and an easy read. Author C.A. King has done an outstanding job of developing well-rounded characters who practically walk off the page, and in Julietta’s case, wearing high heels.
There’s a bit of magic, mystery, and even some mayhem in this holiday story. If you want to escape the holiday madness, pick up a copy of High Heels and Mistletoe and you’ll get lost in a romance that will tug at your heartstrings.
    You won’t be disappointed.

The premise of the story (mistletoe making you clumsy) is completely ridiculous, but that is one of the things which makes this book fun. This isn’t the sort of thing I usually read, but I wanted something different and this hit the mark. I’m glad I chose it. It’s whimsical, light-hearted and thoroughly enjoyable. I relate to the main female character and think she is very well portrayed. If you have a friend or relative who is a ‘bah-humbug’ (like me), this is an ideal present for them. On the other hand, if they love celebrating Christmas, this book is just a good for them. Underneath the playfulness, there is a serious message about how Christmas should be celebrated (outside of the religious side).

5.0 out of 5 stars A magical Christmas read

Christmas. The season of joy. Sure if the meaning of joy has turned to being saddled with an ancient curse that made Christmas time unbearable. While the local shops blaring out Mistletoe and Wine wouldn't cause Julietta Romero to break out in hives, the presence of mistletoe was a dangerous thing indeed. She'd got it managed, she'd avoided incidents for years, then some stupid idiot in the office decided it should be spruced up for the holidays and disaster struck. Worse still, some the desperate fool in the street witnessed her humiliation, and who would he be but the client her boss needs her to get signed. All she wanted to do was get away for Christmas, now she has to stay until he signs the deal. But he isn't playing fair, he hasn't even read the contract. He is everywhere, in her business, in her home, and haunting her dreams. She needs to get this playboy out of her mind, but it seems fate has other plans.

High Heels And Mistletoe is a wonderful Christmas themed romance by the talented C.A. King. I loved the characters in this book, you can't help but root for them Julietta starts to learn the joy of Christmas while Luke believes he has found the one thing that has been missing all his life. But fate often throws a curve ball. I loved watching how these two danced around each other, building foundations of something more and watching them grow together. It really is a great Christmas read, full of the spirit and joys that make that time of year great while weaving a tale of romance and magic you can't help but adore.
