About the author

Janina Carol (J.C.) Seal
I come from the beautiful city of Freiburg, at the foot of the Black Forest. I live in a small townhouse with my loving husband, my wonderful teenage daughter and my twenty year old tomcat. To earn a living, I work part-time as a technical assistant in cancer research. I didn't start writing until October 2018 but have always loved reading.
Perhaps you are wondering why someone from Germany writes in English? I still remember the first English book I ever read. When I was in the US as an exchange student at sixteen, I picked a random book in a public library and came across “Dragonsong” by Anne McCaffrey. It was the beginning of my passion for stories that go beyond the boundaries of the mortal world, and also the beginning of my love for a language so much more expressive than my own.
When I finally took the step from reader to author, the choice of language was not an issue.
Accompany me into my world of fantasy, adventure and mystery, paranormal and romance.
When I'm not writing or reading, I like to play computer games or watch crime series on television. I'm also on the parents' council of my daughter's school and a member of the garden club around the corner.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2022Despite (or maybe because) of the neutral (read: emotionless/calm/angelic) writing style, I really liked this trilogy - coz I loved the ideas. That forgiveness and compassion can turn even the fallen towards the light. That love heals. That there are ways to make a nephilim or a human into a true angel. That even Lucifer himself isn’t the bad guy everyone has painted him to be. This trilogy has an interesting premise - that demons & their spawn were underdogs & angels are the ones cursing them, ripping away their wings&powers & doing the fallen an injustice just coz once their ancestors fought on the wrong side. While it is all truly only an experiment. 1/3 through the story morphs into a space opera and Greek gods genesis story and from then on, the twists and turns just keep on coming. While Bela is resurrected back to his 16yo self after he dies at the beginning, I wouldn’t peg this as a YA book, more for mature adult audiences.
What I liked:
- The story is told not quite devoid of emotion, but like in neutral, angelic gear with not a lot of emotive descriptions, which I suppose was the intention of the author - when a story is being told by an (fallen) angel you don’t expect emotional gushing, but rather fact-based descriptions sometimes;
- The stories of the falls/bad decisions were very interesting & I liked that there was redemption in sight, although at some point it felt like everyone was being pardoned and that the angels were recruiting the fallen but harmless folk to fight the truly evil fallen & Lucifer;
- Loved how some human history (including modern history) moments were explained away;
- Loved the use of the poison apple which reminded me of Snow White, but, of course, was more of an allusion to Eden;
- I can totally see this as a Minecraft world or a gods vs demons battle game, coz the entire trilogy has quite a few actioney-adventury things - battles, stories, demons turn back to angels, true angels being created, parties switching sides in the name of forgiveness.
What I didn’t like:
- I did like HOW Bela found his mate Maya & how all other true angels found their soul-mates, but the unions were all rather sudden & a tad lustful for my taste.
- Headhopping within same chapters - sometimes it was tricky figuring out who was experiencing things & I think in 1 instance the person reference under the chapter was not the person telling the story in that chapter - so I was confused occasionally, but it did later transpire what was what and who was who.
Recommended for fans of myths & legends, Greek pantheon lore with a dash of space opera & romantic fantasy about angels.
Not recommended if you’re a fan of dogma as this trilogy kinda rewrites the Good Book & most of what we think we know about the Fall, angels&demons, not to mention what we think we know about some aspects of human history.
Heat level: idk, medium? (2-3 not very descriptional and very short sex scenes with an occasional body part mention are peppered in).
- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2022What if you were a child of Zeus? What if Lucifer was your father and was THE definition of "Daddy Issues"?
In a mix of the big guy upstairs and all the religions He has caused..then throw in some of your run-of-the-mill gods and goddesses and you might touch on what is in the Angels and Demons Trilogy.
The writing is concise yet descriptive. Romance without sensationalism. Religion and manifestation without being preachy. As a religious person myself, I hate to see religion bashed for no good reason. You can be religious and spiritual without giving into the institution of it. And JC Seal converts that theory into an outstanding trilogy. I do believe that my favorite part of the story is the side novel to the series, Virgin's Curse where we get to know Elena.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2021Angels, demon, half angels/demons it has it all. Various supernatural creatures. Things are not good for half angels/demons or fallen angels. Bela is on a mission to save as many as he can to give them a safe and happy life. Lucifer is on the rampage against the angels and there is a war. The angels have to learn that other half or fallen angels can be redeemed. That there is a way. These books have it all. Lots of action, drama, mystery. This is a phenomenal series to read. You get caught up in the books and you do not want to stop reading. Spent two days reading all three books and nothing I write here would do them justice. They are that good. Definitely a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gripping Adventure of Mythological Proportions!
Book 1: Fallen Angels
I’ve spent the past week reading the solo books by J.C. Seal and really enjoyed myself so much with them! The Angels & Demons trilogy starts with FALLEN ANGELS and the series, as well as it’s spin-off, THE VIRGIN’S CURSE, all play in the same world. A world I was utterly fascinated by.
The world revolves around Angels, Demons and half-breeds that are fallen and alone and seek somewhere to belong. Bela finds a farm and when he meets his new friend and fellow outcast Azal, it is the beginning of not only a close friendship but also of a new community. The story’ scope widens over time and making the acquaintance of investigative journalist Alec Hunt who seems to be a threat at first but then can be won over to their side. He searches for others of Bela’s and Azal’s kind to bring them to the Farm where they can find a new home.
When Alec’s daughter meets Bela, the two fall in love and a curse is triggered. Bela henceforth appears in the form of a horned fire-demon. However, instead of taking flight, the girl stays with Bela and breaks the curse, so ultimately, the Archangel who took Bela’s powers away at a young age now has to return them. Bela doesn’t know how to deal with his new powers and he faces the challenge of having to defend the demons in the human world and save the latter from a gruesome fate. There are also mysteries to be solved, secrets to be uncovered and adventures to be experienced.
The way the author has chosen to use ancient mythology as an underlying concept to her worldbuilding was outstanding. I loved that the deities turned out to be angels as well. The entire concept of angels and demons was in itself logical and rich in detail.
I was gripped by the action, fascinated by the worldbuilding and loved the pace and story throughout. What I also loved was the underlying message of love and forgiveness being worth it, even if it is hard to attain. The mutual support in the outcast community is heart-warming and I cannot recommend this fast-paced adventure highly enough!
Book 2: Angels Descendants
ANGELS DESCENDANTS is the second instalment in the Angels & Demons Trilogy and does not disappoint! We get to know Jason Tim who ran away from home, convinced his father is insane. He denies his heritage until he cannot run away any longer. To his great surprise, he finds himself on the Chariot, the ancient vessel of the gods.
Again, Greek mythology is superbly interwoven with the worldbuilding of this sequel to FALLEN ANGELS and expanded upon. And now that Jason knows the truth of the matter, namely that The Chariot isn’t only something you can find in history books, he must return to Earth to find his father because the old man had spoken the truth all along.
Finding his father, however, is an adventure and thrill ride in itself. We accompany Jason as he is attacked by unknown enemies, he has unravel the secrets of his own heritage and learn to accept the many changes in his life. When he finds out that his girlfriend has been blackmailed to spy on him, he must also find out the truth about her heritage in order to be able to protect her from her abilities that she cannot control.
All this happens while Jason also struggles to accept his new role in the angel community. So you can imagine what a fast-paced and gripping story the author has created to delight us with. As we follow this new protagonist, we also meet characters from the first book, like Bella again, and even Vapuliel and Beliel. I have to admit, saying that I wasn’t fond of Beliel was putting it mildly but now we learn more of these characters’ backstories and reading Beliel’s almost broke my heart.
The change of POV and the expansion of not only the world but the characters and their interactions and lifestories really were an amazing addition to an already amazing first part and I was more than excited to read the last right after!
Book 3: Angels Nemesis
Lucifer lies in hiding to find the perfect time to attack the angel community while Archangel Gabriel has vanished. This gripping last instalment, ANGELS NEMESIS, of the Angels & Demons trilogy had me on the edge of my seat! What a finale!
Lucifer’s son has newly been turned into a True Angel and is now shackled to kill his own father. Needless to say that he is not altogether enthusiastic to commit patricide. So he tries to find another way to get around this gruesome task. He tries to change fate and ends up risking the eradication of the entire Angel community.
What I love about this unique take on angels that have been the topic of so many books, religious, mythical and fictional alike. The angle here is fresh, the lore woven together superbly and the storyline is spell-binding with so many surprising twists and turns. Even when you have learned to expect surprises, there are more things you didn’t expect and certainly not like this.
Reading this grand finale of the trilogy has been entertaining and thought-provoking. But it has also touched my heart so deeply! A worthy ending of an epic tale!

4.0 out of 5 stars A unique stories of angels and demons
I downloaded this wonderful trilogy as a Christmas treat for myself, having seen it shared by several of my book lover friends. I have only read the 1st part of the series but it hooked me in so much I had to share my feelings.
I love how the author has mingled in threads of mythology into the fantasy and biblical stories of angels and the fallen ones. The main character Bela is so compassionate you cannot help but fall for him. I loved how when he heard the story of a possible mermaid sighting Bela and his friends from the Farm (a special community created as a safe haven) set out to investigate and offer assistance to the creature. (A mermaid tale always draws me in.)
A story that has lots to offer friendship, love, romance, war and a whole lot more is well worth checking out. I'm off to read the rest of the book and will report back soon. Happy Reading 😍📚📖
Part 2 and the main character of this story 'Angels Descendants' is Iason although we do get to meet up with some of our wonderful characters friends from Book 1. Iason runs away from home as a teenager he was brought up by his father who he thinks is crazy. Talking about Greek Gods in the world. It is only after a near death experience, that he comes to think there is something after all in the tales his father told. Once again I loved how the author brings mythology into the story.
The final part was most enjoyable featuring Kreon as the main character he just happens to be the son of Lucifer. I loved how the his generals were shapeshifters. All with the ability to turn into an animal form. Again great storylines with lots of love and compassion threaded throughout. Along with the great evil caused by the darkness deep within Lucifers body. Well worth a read.
