Wendigo Forest Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 17 ratings

Myths—legends—stories—they all amounted to one thing: half-truths. Through evolution things changed. Revealing false information became a profession trusted only to a select few. Sometimes, however, the unknown preferred anonymity.

The Fawns researched the unusual on a daily basis. That didn’t mean everyone in the family was happy with the lifestyle. Scars came in a number of varieties and Clara Fawn carried them all, visible or not. No one ever questioned them or her before. That was about to change...

Somewhere along the line, moving became as common as Sunday night dinner. Some bites were good, others not quite as palatable. Their new hometown overflowed with strange myths. Not waiting to hear them before entering the woods was the last mistake any of them would make.

The Wendigo were out there, waiting...

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Wendigo Forest. The main character, Clara, a teenager, travels the country with her parents who hide from her the reason why they move from place to place and what their profession is, which brings them on the road again and again. From the very beginning, the author invites the reader into an atmosphere of secrecy and the sense of lingering fear. At the next place Clara moves to, she meets friends, but are they really friends and are they who they pretend to be? Will she garner courage to unravel the mystery that surrounds her every step and find out if the Wendigo exist? Plunge into this short and quickly paced story and find for yourself the answers to all questions. Highly recommended to fans of the mysterious and intriguing.

I believe this is my first book by this author and I was totally entertained with this story. It is not in my go to genre list but the cover and the synopsis drew me in and I had to read it.
Its a quick read but we really get a great story out of it and now I am wanting more! Great characters and I could just see every detail in my mind. Will be looking at more from this author as now I need to know what I'm missing with not reading anything until now!

    5 Stars!

Yes! I want more! I wasn’t sure how this book was going to play out being so short, or if I would even be able to get in to it, I DID! I was so hooked by the last page I was screaming for more! I’m not sure if I have ever read a story centered around wendigos but I loved this story. Clara seems like an odd one, but I was so hoping she would make some new friends that she could form a long lasting relationship with, but she felt as if she was the odd one out yet again. I am also holding out hope that Hank isn’t a jerk, sometimes he seems like he would be and then other times I am hoping for Clara and Hank to develop something special. Her parents are only in this town to chase down the most current serial killer, an assumed wendigo. There is a nice twist at the end that will change Clara’s life forever. I really need to see what happens next so fingers crossed there is a follow up to this book!

I have read numerous stories from this author. I usually enjoy them and look forward to more. This one is a short read. It is very slow with a lot of narration. This one is good for a Halloween storytelling-time kind of year. It has spooky elements that are good for the dark room, eerie music, campfire telling. Just the execution could have been better. I am glad this isn’t my first book by this author, not sure I would look for more.

    Wendigo Forest
    By C.A. King
    5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Wendigo Forest by C.A. King. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. I enjoyed reading about the character of Clara Fawn. She and her family were always on the move and Clara is the one that felt the impact of it. I felt empathy for Clara as she felt like an outsider whenever she started over. The book has a suspenseful feeling all the way through. There is mystery in the air, and I was turning pages to find out what was going to happen next. What will Clara and her family find in their new hometown? Read this book to find out. The author does an amazing job of making both the story and the characters come to life. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining book. I would highly recommend reading it.

Wendigo Forest by C.A. King is a YA paranormal story that is an intriguing fast paced read. This was my first book by C.A. King, and I was incredibly pleased with my decision to read this book. In this story we follow Clara Fawn who does not seem to settle to long in one place with her family and she absolutely hates it. The characters and story are so developed for it being a short story! You won’t be disappointed.

Wendigo Forest by C.A. King a fast paced five-star read. This is a typical read by this author, its engaging, compelling and will have you wondering where the time went when you finish as you start this story, and get so gripped by the story you don’t look up until its over. I did finish it and feel like there could have been more pages, but I feel that about most novels. Clara was a character that you could get behind, she is struggling, and you can see her story unfolding. What I love most about this author is the way the words appear on the page, they reveal a story before your eyes, you can see the characters and the scene unfold like a movie in your mind. Do not miss this author as they have a great way with words.

This was a well-written paranormal novella that sees the Fawn family arrive in a place called Chance. The town is awash with myths and legends, not least the Wendigo Forest.

The story is about growing up, differences and fear of difference. The characters fit well into the story and I liked the idea of it. There were some atmospheric moments, too.

There's plenty of mystery and a nice twist.

    Worth a look.

Wendigo Forrest is a fantastic YA paranormal story by C.A. King. The story is everything I have come to expect from Ms. King- a well written, intriguing, and engaging tale- with wonderful world building, a little mysteriousness, some dramatic developments, and a bit of spookiness that kept things interesting.
This is a very short story, which made for a very quick and easy read- I would like to have read a slightly longer version of this book and be able to immerse myself in the story with more detail, but still an enjoyable book. The characters are well developed individuals who are entirely realistic and believable.
I enjoyed meeting Clara, a teenage Fawn, and following along as the story unfolded. Mystery and spookiness ensue- making for a great read!

    Thank you, Ms. King!
