A Fate Unknown: A PNR, Why Choose Novel (The Ghost Girl Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.5 out of 5 stars 1,270 ratings

I'd love to tell you how I got stuck in a house in the middle of Nowhereville, Illinois. Or how many years I've spent with no memory of the person I used to be. But I can't. Those details are locked down tight inside the chaos of my mind, and I don't have the key.

The only thing I do know - I'm dead. Major bummer, right?

I spend my days doing what I do best - scaring off anyone who steps foot inside my house. Of course, ghost girls can't own houses, but that's beside the point. A girl's got a rep to maintain, and after a close call a while back, I've had to step up my game. This ghost girl doesn't want to be exorcised anytime soon.

Just when my unlife is getting increasingly dull, a team of hot paranormal researchers shows up to investigate the cause of all the unusual activity. Now I don't know whether I should bust out my normal bag of tricks or take a chance on making my presence known in other, potentially naughty, ways. Don't judge. Ghost girls have needs too, ya know, and mine have gone unmet for way too long.

Cole, Knox, Macklin, Thad & Levi might have just gotten more than they bargained for - namely, me - but this feels like so much more than insta-lust. With every encounter, this sense of familiarity just won't leave me the hell alone. Who are they? Who am I?

In the end, maybe I'll finally know the truth, and the guys might just get something they didn't even know they were missing.

A Fate Unknown is book one in a medium-burn, why choose trilogy. The FMC will have a HEA with all of her guys by book three.

**Cliffhanger Warning!** Oh my ghost! I love this book. This is a fantastic, funny, action-packed, magical, medium-burn, reverse harem romance. There is plenty of exciting and sexy action, as well as a mystery. It seems to me that any good ghost story should have a bit of mystery. This one has several. I am crazy about all the unknowns, and only a few things are explained by the end. Originally, I picked this up because I wanted a ghost story (it's almost Halloween) with some romance. So, the situation with Fate being a "ghost girl" who haunts a house with gusto, and the guys - Cole, Knox, Macklin, Thad and Levi - being paranormal investigators was perfect. Then there's a twist: Not only does Fate have no memory of who she was or how she died, the men also suffer amnesia. Oh, and the men are all something supernatural. At first I thought they were psychics, but as the Prologue shows, they just poofed into corporeal existence one day, about 50 years ago. The main characters are all so well... fleshed out. (Heh.) I love the way each chapter has a character's "rules" in the header, and it's fairly easy to know which person is narrating. Fate is a badass who is super horny, snarky and sarcastic. Cole is an alpha-hole who is haunted by a recurring dream. Knox is an empath and instantly bonds with Fate. Macklin is a sexy nerd who tries to help Fate communicate. The identical twins - Thad and Levi - are silly, snarky and just as lustful as Fate. I am definitely going to read the next book in the series. Some typos, but nothing too distracting.

Sinclair Kelly I bow to you! As a debut book, you got it goin' on girl and I want more!!! Well-effing-done! I don't consider myself a paranormal reader but if I can find authors like you then I will happily convert to the dark side!! The description had me hooked, the cover blew me away and the world you built set me on fire, made laugh, made me cry and brought out all the feels! If I didn't know this was a debut book, I wouldn't have guessed after reading it. Bravo!

The FMC, Fate, has a few problems. Her biggest being that she is a ghost. #ghostgirlproblems But as it turns out, she isn't your normal run of the mill ghost. She has no recollection of her past or why she is stuck in the beautiful house she is haunting. She is lonely, horny, and bored when in rolls 5 drop dead gorgeous ghost hunters. Cole, Knox, Macklin, Thad and Levi are about the have their hands full in more ways than one. I think my favorite scene is their first encounter with Fate. Explosive! And sets up the world Kelly is about to drop you into.

The guys have formed a brotherhood, built around the mystery of their pasts. A mystery that has been pulling them all over the country as they search for a missing piece that they may have just found. And boy does that create a bunch of new problems. As it turns out, Fate is a lot to handle. She is snarky, sassy, sarcastic, sexy and strong. All my favorite characteristics for a FMC. But there is a vulnerability to her that only these men can bring out in her.

Each of the guys definitely brings something different to the group and the group's connection. All the characters are well thought out, relatable and realistic. As in all first books of a triology, we need background on this new world and the MCs, but it's well developed and flows organically which makes me love this even more. So many great moments from the one liners to the moments when a character grows. Tones of chemistry and heat between Fate and her men. As the mystery starts unravel, communication is key Cole! Kelly drops another twist and ends the book with you wanting more. There is a cliffy but no one is dying, small favors, but I definitely can't wait for the next book. I highly recommend giving this book a read.

Ok, I actually really enjoyed this book! Although, it had a lot of similarities to Four Psychos which I’m not gonna lie was annoying and distracting. I hate when authors pull too much inspiration from other novels. What I did like was that it had a twist that made me keep reading. I like the different POVS especially because I felt like I really got to know the guys. That’s usually the obstacle with RH, yet each guy had distinct and unique personalities.

I liked that while there was an instant attraction, the characters were able to look beyond that and try to develop an actual relationship. Overall I just really enjoyed this book (even though it ends on a cliff hanger...) Ugh January can’t come fast enough! I love Fate and I like that it seems in book 2 the bonds between Fate and her boys will be tested and explored more.

This was my first read/listen from this author and I am so glad more audiobooks are coming to Scribd because it gives me the opportunity to listen to more authors and new-to-me ones especially. I had seen this series before and I was looking for one that had more humor than it did angst. I didnt want enemies to lovers or bullying and this one fit the bill!

I thought #ghostgirlproblems was hilarious. The comedic relief we got in just the first book alone was fabulous. I really loved how Fate got her powers back bit by bit, how she reacted to the guys when another female was around haha. I especially loved the naughtiness with one of the guys while she was incorporeal. I appreciated how different all the guys are and what they being to the table for the eventual harem. Macklin I think was one of my favorites, along with Nox. I loved the others but these 2 were my standouts 😍😍😍. I appreciate how the author revealed things in this one, I really wasn’t sure what was going to happen which was like a fresh breath of air. The antics Fate got herself into, as she connected with the guys and became more “alive” was fantastic. As Fate remembers who she is and the guys start to remember, we get to meet some of the side characters who help piece together more parts of the puzzle. We get some reveals that are heart wrenching but not all is what it seems. I thought the ending was great, made me jump right into book 2’s audiobook. I thought this one had a good mix of sexy/tension-filled moments (this is not a fast burn and that is perfect for the storyline, it wouldn’t have made sense if it was) and plot, we got hints of things but enough to still be in the dark (in order to force readers to get book, which worked on me haha).

Narration was good but not my favorite. I would give it a 4/5 stars. I think the male narrator made some of the accents over the top, especially the twins. Their parts weren’t my favorites because of the accents he did, so to me that is hurtful for the audiobook. How he did the other 3 males was good, but these two, not so much. I thought the female narrator did a good job with Fate’s eccentricities haha. I have listened to her on a previous series and liked her then too. Her performance helped with the overall rating for narration. Both narrators helped bring these characters to life and made me laugh a lot, I ended up listening to the whole series in less than a week ❤️

I loved this book. Fantastic premise, excellent one-liners, a gaggle of hot guys, and a top tier heroine- what more could I want? I’ve got a few other things on my TBR to get through, but I’ll definitely be checking out book 2 to see how Fate and her guys’ story progresses. This was my first read from Sinclair Kelly, but she’s proven to have a writing style that I’m a huge fan of. Excited to check out the backlist!

I loved this story so much! It was hilarious with the main character Fate and her sassy ghost girl problems. With no filter and rambling personality, I enjoyed the character building. Between that, the mysterious pasts that none of the characters can remember and the build up I didn't want to put it down!

Some solid world building and a great introduction of the characters. The story is a little slow, but I think that is due to the thorough introductions, which were more important for the first book. Looking forward to book 2.
