Fractured Realities: A Write of Passion Literary Journal Anthology Kindle Edition
Sirens and Cupids. Half-demons and aliens. Prophets and ancient gods. Treasons and vindicated rebellions. Santa’s elves and the thoughts of Christmas trees. The wishes of children and marriage proposals. Love that takes its first tentative steps and goes on through separation, transcending boundaries and misunderstandings.
Experience the worlds of Fractured Realities: existences that intermingle the light of love and the darkness that
hides behind stars and in the hearts of men. Other realms where magic and old powers blend. Places where men born of the mist, selkies, mysteries, and simple humans walk, trying to find truth and meaning in life and those around them.
Combining the voices of twelve writers, spanning four themes, this dark and whimsical book invites you to remember, in worlds where nothing is promised and cracks often mar the surface, all things carry on, beauty remains, and light shines through the fractures of reality.

About the authors
Virginia Elizabeth Hayes, the ninth daughter of a surgeon who accidentally cut off the tip of his own index finger, Gini developed a keen eye for the absurd at an early age.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, Sarah V. Hines lived in St. Augustine, Florida, for a few years before settling in Washington, DC. She attends Northern Virginia Community College, where she studies international relations and anthropology. She loves crochet, her Bengal-demon cat, Balthazar, and visits with her family in the Pacific Northwest. Her favorite drink is hot chocolate, which is appropriate since her favorite season is winter. If you enjoyed her debut novel, Hubris, check in with her at SarahVHines.com for updates as the story continues.
Theda Vallee is the author, of Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Sci-Fi, and Paranormal Romance. She lives in the Pacific Northwest with her two children and faithful cat familiars Fernando and Miguel.
Living in a place where the sun rarely shines, she channels her rain-induced delirium into creating fierce independent heroines who kick ass and take names. Her obsession with mythology and folklore can be seen as she interweaves known legends into her vibrant worlds, but always with a distinctly Theda twist.
Working with the excellent indie publisher Balance of Seven, Theda was honored to be part of an anthology that achieved #1 Amazon Best Seller, 2020 Finalist Best Book Award, and 2021 Silver Feathered Quill Award.
When she's not writing, you can find her hiking in the beautiful forests of the PNW, reading everything she can get her hands on, and traveling to distant locales in search of snacks.
From the time she was old enough to form such bold opinions, D. Gabrielle Jensen has loved good music and robust storytelling, hated the sound of her government name, and yearned for the commotion and serenity of a major metropolis. She has won writing awards she forgot about long ago, and college was a string of 4 a.m. discussions and Greek mixers so she filed all of that away as inconsequential.
Out in the wild, D. can be found roaming rooftops and alleyways with her camera, screaming in the front row of a concert, or on the hunt for a damn fine cup of coffee. Or just hanging out at home with her cat. Follow her online, strike up a conversation, and she’ll gladly take all those black jellybeans off your hands.
In a little known corner of Maryland many years ago, a tiny curvemudgeon emerged fully formed and clueless. Cursed with permanent foot-in-mouth disease, she developed an epistemophilic instinct which led her to traverse the literary cosmos in search of the legendary Mount Syntax. Atop which is the mythic ‘Font of Hopeless Dreams.’ This amazing pool overflows twice yearly with liquid imagination. A single sip of the water bestows the gift of storytelling and an insatiable craving for coffee. Like everything, it came with a price, and the price of its blessings is steep. The drinker must wear the amulet of imposters, doomed to never sleep without first spending hours ruminating on a lifetime of mistakes and toe cheese. Still, she deemed the price acceptable and set forth to spread her stories throughout the land.
Armed with the amulet, a never empty inkwell, and her trusty quill of idiocracy, K.T. pens her tales. Not content with conventional genres, she traverses the literary cosmos, leaving behind a trail of confusion and overwrought muses drunk on espresso fumes and screaming incoherently about chocolate and purple band-aids. Melding disparate narratives into the literary equivalent of a unicorn riding a skateboard through a rainbow.
When not cloaked in the mythical aura of creation, K.T. wallows in what-if. Spending her free time with her family and bouncing ideas for new tales off her chorkie DG. Look for warnings about new works on social media and her website.
Leo Otherland is a queer author, literal goblin, member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association, and lover of all things strange and unordinary. This elusive scribbler acquired his passion for weaving stories of dark and broken things through a childhood spent huddling in books and dodging the unfriendly spirits that resided in the haunted house he called home.
Currently, Leo is doodling out several different novels at once, as well as various “short” pieces of fan fiction, in a very ordinary apartment hidden away somewhere unobtrusive in the arctic north woods of Wisconsin. During the few occasions he is not writing, this finicky, unrepentant otaku enjoys reading web comics, watching anime, and playing Japanese role-playing games. And while it’s rare to catch this skittish wordsmith out in daylight, he can occasionally be located on his website, leootherland.com, or on Facebook and Twitter @LeoOtherland. Kristine Haecker has been a prison guard, a grocery store checker, an insurance agent, spent 3 years beating Excel into submission and now teaches software online. All these experiences give her plenty of material for writing funny fiction, contemporary novels about average women, and fantasy worlds about Bad Ass Broads.
She has 3 published short stories and dabbles in short stories, science fiction, fantasy, romance, and creative non-fiction. Works in progress include 30 Dates or Less, Bathtubs in a Field, Branks's Shells expansion to full novel, a Fae sister finding herself, short romance stories and a coffee table book.
She shares a newly built home recently completed with her amazing husband and 2 fur babies, Ripley & Tosh. When she isn’t working on a story, she spends her time bingeing NCIS with her husband, playing with the fur-babies, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, crocheting baby hats, going out to eat far too often, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers!
Chaz Beebe (born 1980-) has taught students for over ten years, at various grade levels. With this knowledge, exposure to books through his children and his own finds, and desire to help others, he began officially writing with Young Adults in mind.
Chaz was first published with Write of Passion's Literary Magazine and has some upcoming works soon to be published.
Growing up, one group of Chaz's favorite books was The Wizard of Oz, which he enjoyed in every form (books, movies, remakes, extensions, and even on the stage: where he played Toto). Just like his acing in plays, his writing grew to make interesting characters.
Chaz's drive for writing: to help his readers learn through lessons and plots within his works, often without even realizing it.

Deana Wilson is a self-proclaimed weaver of fantasy. One of the youngest of a family of eight children living in a Montana town so small it boasted only a bar and a post office, she soon discovered books and writing as an outlet for her creative nature.
She earned her Bachelor’s from SNHU, majoring in creative writing, and minoring in screenwriting and history. Her experimental short story, “Fragmented”, written entirely in fragment sentences, was featured in the 4/24/2017 issue of The Penmen Review. Her sci-fi epistolary story “Treason of Asphodel” was published in the August 2019 issue of the Write of Passion literary magazine. With the help of a houseful of cats and kids, she is completing her high fantasy trilogy, while doing research for several other novels.
I am a romance addict!
Give me stories with a touch of heartbreak and a spark of joy, and I’m happy. Throw in characters with a huge helping of heart and soul, and I’m up reading all night in romance heaven!
I authored my first fiction story when I was twelve. Since then, I’ve been hooked on writing. Initially, I focused my career on writing and editing nonfiction for newspapers and magazines before shifting to my first writing love—fiction. Then romance caught me and reeled me in. For me, connecting words to tell a story is like assembling a jigsaw puzzle, except I get to create the pieces as I go along.
While currently a Texas resident, I consider myself a Marylander since I grew up near Baltimore. I often draw on the historical flavor of Annapolis and Maryland’s Eastern Shore to inspire my story settings. My short stories have been published in five anthologies, and my short story, First Kiss, won a shortlist spot in a Reedsy’s short story contest.
I am Theodore Niretac Tinker—a trans author who fights for justice and equality through his books and explores the weird and whimsical in his short stories.
My career as an author has been as long and winding as my books tend to be, with just as much character and spiritual growth. My style as an author, my community, and my writing have all evolved since I put my first story out into the world.
The same goes for my identity. I originally began publishing under the name Dorothy Tinker, and it’s only been since then that I have accepted my truth and come out as trans. Eventually, my publisher, Balance of Seven, and I plan to republish my first three books under Theodore Niretac Tinker, but for now, you can find them, as well as eleven short stories and five poems, under the pen name Dorothy Tinker.
But what, exactly, do I write?
I write speculative fiction, with a specialization in fantasy. However, I don’t just write adventures. In my books, I dive into worlds and people and explore the struggle to do what is right, to fight prejudice and oppression. I explore the desire to cling to the status quo and the determination to obliterate it that can be born of facing the truth.
I am also a world-builder and a lover of the weird and whimsical. Even as I explore the depths of the active struggle for peace in my books, I use short stories to dive into a multitude of worlds and explore a quirkier, often lighter expression of my art.
Join me monthly as I write a new short story on a topic chosen by my wider community, and check out www.patreon.com/TheodoreNTinker to learn more about how you can get involved and support my larger works and worlds.

There is a little something for everyone; love, whimsy, heartbreak, science fiction, even a few holiday-themed stories.
It was such a great read, I devoured the whole thing over a couple of nights and I can say I felt a little sad when some of the stories were over.
Each author brings a different mood to each of their shorts and each author crafted brilliant reality-adjacent worlds.
I absolutely would recommend this collection to others as a great introduction to each author and their writing style.
