I loved Dylan, but he left anyway.

Even now, ten years later, the man still crosses my mind. Is he healthy? Happy? Sexy and delectable?

Imagine my surprise when I move to a small Montana village, only to learn the mayor is the same man who ghosted me years earlier.

To answer that last question, the term delectable doesn’t do Dylan justice.

    One of my favorite author finds of 2020, She impressed me with Alchemy Unfolding (reverse age gap) and she didn’t disappoint with Yuletide Acres. This is a beautiful story of second changes and destiny. Poppy and Dylan met while traveling the music festival circuit…living that nomad lifestyle that only the young kids can do. But duty called Dylan home and they were torn apart by two stubborn people who didn’t want to share personal information…themselves. Never expecting the meet again, Poppy’s called to move to a small Montana town where Dylan is the now the mayor. Can they pick up where they left off or have circumstances (and their hearts) changed too much?

    I loved this…it had the perfect amount of drama, whimsy, steam and a little magic from the beyond. Poppy was this character I could picture in my head (totally Kate Hudson as Penny Lane from Almost Famous). Dylan was that curmudgeon who lost the love of his life and then a life he hadn’t planned takes over. He’s a single dad to a little girl he adores but his heart never recovered from losing Poppy.

    The characters from the town, including Dylan’s mother and daughter, just brought a lot of meddling & laugher that I love from small towns. While this story has a holiday backstory, I don’t think you need the Christmas tree still up to really enjoy this story. It’s definitely a unique story that I would highly recommend.

    The author wove a beautiful tale that had me feeling all of the emotions. I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt. I got so angry at Dylan I wanted to throw my phone at times. And oh my goodness, when six year old Marissa told Poppy she was going to adopt her, I definitely cried.

    Something about single dad romance always draws me in and this story did not disappoint. I’m always curious to see how the matter of the ex is handled in the storyline and ML Broome did it beautifully, not disregarding the previous relationship but honoring it while making the love between the two main characters deep and endearing to me as a reader.

    Of note, I also found the holiday spin and Yule celebrations refreshing. Not your typical Christmas read.

    Well done and well deserved five stars

Dylan's mother is wise and loving, his daughter is adorably precocious, and they’re both Team Poppy all the way, no matter how grumpy Dylan may be.
