About the Author

I've always loved the combination of romance and suspense. Having just one or the other doesn't do it for me. Almost all of my twenty-eight books and five novellas twist both of those elements together, because nothing complements falling in love better than being hunted down, right?

My goal as a writer is to create books that make people feel good. My characters come with baggage, pasts hurts, and vulnerabilities. They go through hell, find love, and at the end, find peace in who they are and everything they've gone through. And isn't that what we all want?

My earlier books also twined in a dash of paranormal. Soul-changing second chances play the catalyst for UNTIL I DIE AGAIN, STRANGER IN THE MIRROR, and WOKE UP DEAD. The question of where our souls go when we're in a coma kicks off WHAT SHE DOESN'T KNOW. And psychic connections play into UNFORGIVABLE and TOUCHED BY LIGHTNING. I jumped into the paranormal with both feet in the Offspring series (Avon Books), an X-Files meets LOST mix with lots of action and romance, changing my name to Jaime Rush (jaimerush.com] to distinguish them. I'm thrilled to be starting a new series, The Hidden, at Grand Central Publishing, with Dragons, Angels, and magick.

I'll BE WATCHING YOU
UNTIL THE DAY YOU DIE

And a brand new series that kicks off with an e-short, WILD HEARTS, Jan 6, 2014, from Random House and WILD ON YOU Feb 3.

When five Navy SEALs take the fall for a covert mission gone wrong, this kick-butt brotherhood joins The Justiss Alliance, a private agency that exacts justice outside the law.

This is the first book in the Love and Light series by Tina Wainscott. Chris Copestake is a young woman living in Colorado whose life ends tragically in a car accident. Chris goes to heaven and is given a mission with a second chance at life. When Chris wakes up in the hospital, she is in the body of Hallie DiBarto, a beautiful socialite who is selfish and cheats on her husband. Hallie is estranged from her wealthy resort owner and husband, Jamie DiBarto. As Chris navigates Hallie's life of luxury, she discovers hidden truths and risks that Hallie left behind. Adjusting to the unfamiliar rhythm of her new way of life, Chris finds herself falling for Jamie, a man who is both a stranger and her husband. This tale delves into the depths of love, the journey of redemption, and the path to uncovering one's true self, all while Chris faces the challenges of her second chance at life. I really enjoyed this amazing romantic suspense novel.

It seemed unlikely that, of all the reviews, only one mentioned blackface. If there were a character in blackface, I'd have read scores of reviews involving it- I mean, good lord. I think I recall the last time I saw blackface in fiction. It was in the mockumentary “The Confederate States of America,” depicting what could have happened had the South won. The scene with blackface was not subtle and may have been written to illustrate how dreadful it is, especially to current viewers.

Based on my strong reaction to that scene- I mean, it feels to me like the only time I've seen or read of it being done in my lifetime because every other incident has been historical- I believe most people would call it out in contemporary literature, not only one 1-star reviewer.

I had to find out for myself. Maybe the Inhabited Body Hallie would stoop that low because she’s depicted in the basic blurb as having made enemies and, I assume, being unpleasant. I fetched the Kindle book and searched “blackface,” but it wasn't there (phew!), so I tried “black” and found the scenes.

    >>>> Stop now to avoid any spoilers or spoiler-adjacent descriptions. This isn't so much about the novel as it is about a reviewer’s misunderstanding.
    Ok?

The character is breaking into someplace at night. In the dark. She dresses in navy & black, finds black gloves, and applies eyeliner to her face to prevent it from being visible. She is, btw, making a rookie mistake in her attempts to remain in the shadows by becoming a solid mass of black. She’d have been better off mixing shades of grey, dark brown, dark blue, and black clothing and make-up. Also, if you're seen with an eyeliner-covered face, it’ll be relatively clear you're up to no good. If I had cause to slink about invisibly, I'd apply my makeup within the realm of possibility. I'd mix dark bronzer or eye shadow with foundation so it's many shades darker, mix blush with dark browns, apply eyeliner and dark eyeshadow in the most extreme way. Heck, even a photo-ready finish could help since it should reduce the reflection from her face.

Of course, I’m spitballing here because I don't need to sneak around at night. At least, not for anything I'd mention in an Amazon review. 😆

Unfortunately, Amazon doesn't have an option to report a review as they misunderstood the action, what a given product is supposed to do, or what a review is. I read a 2-star review on a book about the Korean War because the war was awful, but not bad enough to get 1 star!

The narrative presented is a deeply moving account that touches the heart, revealing the potential for human compassion and redemption. The story suggests a profound transformation where individuals are granted an extraordinary opportunity to rebuild their lives, transcending previous limitations and challenges. While the scenario may seem improbable, it nonetheless illuminates the remarkable capacity for hope, second chances, and the inherent goodness that can emerge in extraordinary circumstances. The emotional resonance of such a tale speaks to the universal human desire for renewal, forgiveness, and the possibility of starting anew.

I really enjoyed this book. After reading it I feel like I know Hallie or should I say Chris? Tina has written an outstanding book in my opinion with good characters and a captivating story. A nice take off on 'Heaven Can Wait' or 'Here Comes Mr. Jordan.'

The premise of this book is intriguing and challenging. Once you accept that premise, the book is a lovely story about changes and second (or third) chances at life and love and what you might do with or for both of them. An enjoyable read.

I wanted to like it more than I did, its definitely the romantic read I love I just didn't totally believe it. Even though to read any type of paranormal/sci fi or shifter romance you need to allow a little make belief but I find it strange that I can't believe any man would forgive his wife her indiscretions while remaining loyal and in love (yes i'm a cynic). Anyway good story, nice romance would I have read it if it had not been free? probably not!
