The Last Hurrah (My Life) Kindle Edition
3 nights, 2 days, and 1 massive music fest . . .what could go wrong?
I’ve been content sweating under the covers, hiding from life all summer. That’s what happens when you suffer from a broken heart.
After being away most of the break, my best friend returns and tries to draw me out of my funk. She can try all she wants, but I’m not leaving my bed until school starts.
But then she dangles tickets to The Last Hurrah. Broken heart or not, this weekend-long music festival is not to be missed.
I expect the music and ambience to be awesome. What I don’t expect is for my heart to forget it’s been crushed when I meet the cute and quirky Link. We team up on a scavenger hunt for tickets to a super-secret show from our mutually favorite band: Black Moon.
Suddenly, the dark clouds resembling a shattered heart are breaking up.
Until we cross paths with my crowd-hating ex during the middle of our quest. I'm abruptly torn between my feelings of the past and my new attraction for Link.
Will I lose focus on the finish line of the scavenger hunt by folding into the reason I hid all summer long?
The Last Hurrah could turn out to be more than just a music festival. It could be the biggest turning point of my life.

About the author

Originally a born and bred Atlanta chick, I currently reside in the land of sunshine and barely a winter just north of Tampa, Florida with my hubby and two crazy barking dogs.
I'm super excited to share the My Life Series, tales about teens dealing with real-life situations, from death to love to family issues to discovering who they are.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 5, 2021This is a super sweet and quick read story that packs a punch in a perfectly sized novella. The characters are as fun as the cover promises and relatable as they are flawed and healing. The weekend is a blast. What teen doesn’t want to spend a weekend of freedom listening to bands that will forever shape their memories as they look back fondly on their teen years?
Lincoln and Everly are great for each other, I loved how well they work together. I love how they fit into this super fun world that Victoria has created. The Last Hurrah is emotional, sweet, and funny. A super fun read.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2021This is not usually something that I’d gravitate towards, but the cover was adorable and the proceeds went to a great cause. Her other series, merryville high co written by Heather Dowell is also just as amazing!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 17, 2021This was so cute! I wasn't sure what to expect going into this one since I had never read anything from this author before, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this novella! This ended up being around 90 pages long, so it flew by and it was such an easy read that I was able to fly through it.
I loved the relationship between Everly and Link that formed over the course of this, and I loved Everly's character growth from the start of this story to the end of it. I thought it was a good thing to show what a toxic relationship looks like (that Everly had just gotten out of), and how she realized that she deserved better. It's something that I really think needs to be shown more in books, so I'm glad that this was a central theme in this one.
If you are looking for a short book to fly through, or a cute romance, or something that takes place at a music festival, then I would definitely suggest picking this up! I will definitely be looking out for this author in the future.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 6, 2021Thank you to Victoria Anders for sending me a copy of this novella! I loved it!
This is a quick one sit read as the story is just under 100 pages. Although it is a quick story it is packed full with great characters and a fun weekend that had me wishing I could hop out of this covid filled world and right into that music festival with Everly!
Everly has been depressed and inside her room all summer after she gets dumped by her ex boyfriend Wynn. When her best friend comes home from summer camp and finds this out she knows she needs to push Everly to get out of the house and back to living a normal social life. Things turn around when they snag tickets to a weekend music festival. With parental approval they head to a weekend filled with music, camping and fun. Everly meets Link who opens her up to happiness as well as the other way around for him. They both helped each other through some tough times and to enjoy life again.
This was such a cute story and I could not put it down. I look forward to reading more from Victoria Anders and urge you to check this one out for yourself!

- Reviewed in the United States on February 13, 2021I really thought this short novella was quite entertaining and sweet. I was easily drawn into liking Lincoln and Everly. I loved how they bonded and became friends over their love for an indie band, even though they both had hurt from the past. The novella had just enough information that I didn’t feel like the story was rushed and I didn’t have time to care about the characters. That is the sign of a great author because I have read novels where I didn’t even care about the characters and I had plenty of information about them.
This is the first time I’ve read anything by this author. I appreciate the lightness and easy flow of her writing and I plan on reading more of her books in the future. She sent me a free one just for signing up for her newsletter. I’m excited to read about Lincoln’s cousin’s story.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2021* I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*
How do I describe this book?!? This book is a cute love story between Lincoln and Everly. Two people who have been through rough times lately and meet at a music festival❤️ this book is an absolute breath of fresh air!
I though this book was such a quick and cute read between some of the heavier books I’ve read. I would recommend this to anyone with a book hangover who needs a little pick-me-up of a love story!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2021Cute short story! I personally wish this story had been longer though. I really enjoyed the characters and the escape to a music festival before senior year sounds like fun.
I loved Tora and Everly’s friendship and how Tora didn’t let Everly wallow anymore. The character development in Everly towards the end was great and definitely what this story needed. I really liked Link and how he was the opposite of Wynn and wanted to do the same things Everly did. I do wish that Everly and Tora hung out at the festival more considering that’s why they were going. I also didn’t expect this story to have a depressing moment towards the end and I definitely feel like this story could have been longer. Things could have been explained more and we could have gotten more background.
I was glad that this story had a decent epilogue though and ended on a really good note for the characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2021This was a super cute YA rom com novella. I read it all in one sitting. The characters are very relatable. I loved seeing how Everly and Link's relationship grew over the course of the book. After having live music cancelled for so long, this book made me long to go to a concert or music festival. The only downside to this book is that I wish it was longer, so I could spend even more time enjoying it. I can't wait to read more of Victoria Anders books!
