A GIFT FROM HOME (Irish Western Series Book 4) Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 223 ratings

For Readers who have read the first three books in the series, this is John Reilly's story!

John Reilly is expecting a package from home, something light as a feather and twice as sweet. Little does he realize the package isn’t the baked goods he’s been dreaming of but a grown-up version of the thirteen-year-old girl who used to follow him everywhere.

When John Reilly doesn’t return to County Cork, Ireland, Jessi Fahy boards a ship and tracks him down. She arrives in Emerson, Colorado, hot, tired, and dusty, but he doesn’t recognize her. Five and a half years of waiting in vain, combined with a horrendous voyage and the realization that John doesn’t remember her, have Jessi fisting her hand and testing Mrs. Reilly’s secret weapon. With a wicked right cross, big John Reilly goes down like a stone.

In Book 4 of C. H. Admirand’s Irish Western Series, the temporarily disbanded Committee for the Betterment of Emerson is at it again! This time they accuse Jessi Fahy of setting fire to Peterson’s Stable, injuring Mr. Peterson, brawling in public and ruining the good name of the Flahertys’ foreman, John Reilly.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The latest Irish Western romance is a fun lighthearted historical starring a feisty female with a terrific right-cross and the man of her dreams with a glass jaw." Harriet Klausner, Genre Go Round Reviews

"Admirand is incredible because her writing is wonderfully descriptive, so much so that each event that took place in this book played out as a movie in my mind."Aimee Ann, Red Headed Book Lover Blog

About the Author

Warm, Charming, Fun C.H. writes about the things she loves most: Family, her Irish Ancestry, Baking and Gardening. Take a trip back in time to the Old West with her Irish Western Series, then fast-forward to the present, stopping at the Circle G Ranch in Pleasure, Texas before finally landing in Apple Grove, Ohio-Small Town USA-for a slice of Peggy McCormack's Buttermilk Pie! C.H. was born in Aiken, South Carolina, but her parents moved back to northern New Jersey where she grew up, which if you've met her would explain a lot. She's always had her nose in a book, has traveled the world over, and even tested the time-space continuum, thanks to the awesome power of the written word. One of her writing quirks is that she loves to include bits and pieces of her ancestors and ancestry in all of her books. Her family centers her and keeps her sane, which is why she enjoys adding elements of family, hearth, and home in all of her romances. C.H. is an active member in RWA, NINC and WWA. C.H. is a former member of RWA/NYC, PASIC, and NJRW where C.H. held numerous jobs including Treasurer, Assistant Conference Chair, and PAN Liaison. With 12 short stories and 15 novels to her credit, this award-winning, multi-published author's books are available in paperback, hardcover, trade paperback, magazine, e-book, large print, and audio book.

If we have not met yet, I’m delighted to meet you! Here’s a little bit about me…

I have been writing romance novels for almost half my life, well at least for the last 30 years. I’m a diehard romantic and have to confess the broad shoulders and wicked glint in the brilliant green eyes of a stranger had my breath snagging in my breast, my heart beating madly, and my future flashing before my eyes. At the age of seventeen, I’d met the man I knew I was going to spend the rest of my life with.

I write Historical & Contemporary Romance featuring characters that I know so well: hardheaded heroes and feisty heroines! They rarely listen to me and in fact, I think they enjoy messing with my plans for them. Over the years I have learned to listen to them! I have always used family names in my books and love adding bits and pieces of my ancestors and ancestry in them, too!

It is the story of a very young girl in love with a Little older boy that decides to leave Ireland and look for luck in the US. She is very attached to his mother and between the two of them they arrange for her to travel to America for her to get married. He had promised her that when in 5-6 years he got back the first girl that he was going to kiss was her. During those years he works in the United States and forgets her. She has now grown up and is a very pretty girl, but he has completely forgotten her, and when she gets to the town he does not recognize her. She is really ofended, the story continues throughout passages and different circumstances.

What mostly attracted me was the way irish use the English languange, and I was really entilghtened learning a lot of words that within the text could figure out their significance.

It is a nice story and very well written

LOL Just like a mom! I laughed and so enjoyed this book. It twist and turns but the humor is still there. Being Irish and full of spit and vingar, as my grandma would say, I could relate to this "surprise". I hadn't read this author, but will be on the look out for more books by this author.

What can you say when a young woman meets trouble from day one upon entering a new town. Her hopes are dashed quickly when the man she loves doesn't recognize her and I LOVE THAT SHE CLIPPED HIM IN THE JAW !!
This story had quite a few twist and turns but ended beautifully.

I enjoyed this story and the amount of trouble that can be had when changing from your home country to a new and growing country. It is also nice to see the different meanings of words and actions. In a new country built on freedom of speech it is great to see all the different ways things can be interrupted. This was a fun story to read.

I hate leaving a book unread and I'm sure I'll try again at some point but it's so corny, you feel ridiculous reading it.
