- Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2021Wow! I loved this series. Didn't see it ending the way it did, but maybe not the end?
This love story is about grief, loss, acceptance, friendship and so much of real life.
Writing is exceptional, characters seem real, flawed.
Well done 👍
- Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2021Coral, I want to say that I hate you.. But I also love you at the same time! Once again, you took us on a wild journey. I laughed, screamed, sighed, and most certainly I cried a lot. You put me right beside Jake and Lori the entire time. I need the words to ALL of the songs! Thank you for ending it the way you did. It was the perfect ending and I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Well, yes, I would but....

5.0 out of 5 stars The Last Book in the Silver Lake Series and 100% worth waiting for.
I have just read a book that I know will stay in my mind for years to come. The kind of book that, as I read the last page, I had to try to pick myself up off the floor while wondering what the hell hit me at 100 mph!
Coral McCallum has once again created pure magic with her beautifully descriptive writing style and characters so deep you really believe you know them. The story telling flows seamlessly. Long Shadows picks up where Shattered Hearts ended. So, if you’re new to this author then please read the series from the beginning and in order, as the story is woven deep within the preceding books which gives the reader a profound understanding of the Silver Lake family, their friends and several other recurring characters.
Jake and Lori are now reunited and have returned home to Rehoboth and there’s a new baby on the way for them. Their children are so entertaining and it’s wonderful to see how they interact with the other characters, particularly Melody. Jesse has a ‘naughty but nice’ streak that keeps everyone on their toes. He's just like his daddy with his ability to melt your heart. As with all the books in this series, there is a strong music background which is written with a great understanding of the recording/touring and music industry.
It’s really hard to review this book without giving any of the plot away but what I will say is that one totally unexpected event took my breath away, shattered my heart and left me feeling as if I’d lost my best friend. There were big fat ugly tears from me on several occasions, so be warned!
On a personal note, as this is the last book in the Silver Lake series (for now), there were a couple of areas I felt, were left unresolved. I had hoped that we would finally see Jake get his day in court and justice be imposed upon Ms Tonriverdi. Also, Jesse never did accept his new sister, Jasmine, but remained a little indifferent to her. There’s also the captivating and somewhat mysterious bohemian nanny…. what’s her story? Having said all that…. none of this takes away from the wonderful read that this book is. I’m living in hope (and pleading a little too, Ms McCallum) that this is the perfect excuse to revisit the Silver Lake family in the not-too-distant future.
As I said at the beginning, Coral McCallum has once again woven her magic and this book really has cast a spell on me. Five stars simply aren’t enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful conclusion to a rockin’ saga
Be warned, you will need tissues while you read this book! And if you haven’t read the others, definitely start with those - this story needs to be read in order to get the most out of it.
The Silver Lake family are back together with new things on the horizon, and everything looks great - but I did say you would need tissues! As ever, Coral mixes romance and rock music effortlessly, and throws in a heartbreaking twist for good measure. You won’t want to stop reading, even through the tears. A fitting conclusion to a rollercoaster of a book series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic finale to the Silver Lake stories
I have been waiting impatiently for the last Silver Lake story and I am not disappointed. What an emotional rollercoaster this book takes you on. Highs, lows, music, family. This has it all and couldn’t put it down. Simply fantastic. Sad that there will be no more Silver Lake to come, however, can’t wait to see what Coral writes next. Thank you for sharing Silver Lake’s journey with us.

5.0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER PAGE TURNER
Well, what can I say about this book? Once again Coral has given us highs and lows and tugged at our heart strings - far too much this time! Just like the other reviewers, I don't want to give too much away, but this is another cracking read and you'll get to the end craving more. I can't wait for your next masterpiece x

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book to end to the series
This is the final book in the series and it doesn't disappoint. I couldn't put it down. Having followed the Powers and Silver Lake family over the last four books I have lived the highs and the lows with them and this book was no exception. Have the hankies ready.
