About the Author

Anthony Barbera interestingly began his career writing music for films and commercials. Earning his B.M. in Music Composition from North Carolina School of the Arts University, he then went on for his masters in composition at the University of Massachusetts. Winning numerous accolades and awards for his music composition, he placed first at the BMI National Music Awards, where the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra performed his "Two Songs for Soprano and Orchestra on Poems by Rilke." And yet, during that time, Anthony's passion for literature and writing was just getting started.

After being asked to direct a collection of ambitious teenagers in writing and acting in their first film for the Sonoma Film Festival-that was it, he was hooked. His novels, in order of publication, are, Catching Baby Moses, The First Rains of October, and Jonah In the Time of the Kings. Assurity, his 4th novel, and a space thriller is complete and awaiting release. His screenplays include: An American Psalm, Catching Baby Moses, and Assurity.

Anthony Barbera is a novelist and composer with a lifelong passion for both storytelling and music. He began his creative journey as a film and commercial composer, earning his bachelor’s in music composition from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and later pursuing graduate studies at the University of Massachusetts, where his work was performed by the North Carolina Symphony Orchestra.

Yet it was storytelling that ultimately captured his heart. After guiding a group of young writers and actors in their first film, X Marks the Spot, Anthony turned to fiction with a focus on deeply human, faith-driven stories. His published novels include 'Catching Baby Moses', 'The First Rains of October', 'Jonah: In the Time of the Kings', 'Assurity: A Space Thriller', and 'Izzy the Bernese Mountain Dog'. His latest release, 'Elijah: Fire from Heaven, captures the courage and calling of one man who stood alone for the Living God.'

    What a fun book Assurity is! The author's writing style really grabbed my attention. I'd love to see Assurity in a movie or series too. The scenes and characters came alive for me! Planning to give one to my teen granddaughter to read as well, a great sci fi that appeals to adults and teens. You'll find, as I did, the subject of the story to be very timely and relative for events happening in our day. I loved the historical references woven throughout as well!
    Isaac (Sir Isaac Newton) one of my favorite characters! Great fictional novel to entertain and escape from everyday news.

    Barbera's ability to build character while telling this story might be the best part of his writing. I not only developed a strong connection to the main character Veronika Taylor Morgan fairly early into the story, but really came to know many of the characters. Their characters continued to unfold throughout the story, despite a fast paced and gripping story line. This story held my attention from the very beginning, combining an interesting amount of relevance (hello Global disease) with history and sci-fi. Bravo to the author! I will certainly be watching for a follow up.
