The Cartwright Men Marry Kindle Edition

4.0 out of 5 stars 11 ratings

Have you ever wondered what happened to those Cartwright men of the Ponderosa plains? Did they fall in love? Marry? This book explores the possible connection between the Cartwrights of today and those four men of the past as Cartwright descendants try to solve a family mystery, and in the process, introduce us to the women the four Cartwright men meet and fall in love with. These women seem perfect for Ben, Adam, Hoss and Joe—but will avalanches, cattle rustlers, criminals, and wily women keep them apart from true love?

This book takes the reader along on an emotional journey while witnessing the trials and tribulations of a family. The story elicits a range of emotions from joy, excitement, and admiration; to horror, hope, and empathy; that keeps the reader engaged from start to finish! - Angela Michalick

Love, happiness, compassion, sadness, anticipation - the author brings out every emotion possible in the lives of the Cartwright men. You don't want the stories to end. (Joanne Raimbault)

About the Author

Monique's parents led very interesting childhoods and recount endless stories of their youth. Both parents come from very large families themselves where storytelling was a great pastime. Their background is predominantly French (from France). Monique's beloved husband, Kurt passed away in 2014, the day before his 62nd birthday. Monique's extended Penner family, who share stories of their beginnings in Russia and Ukraine add flare to her tales. She loves to travel and learn about the places she visits. This is where many new ideas for creative writing arise. When Monique isn't thinking up love and adventure in the Nevada historical west, she loves to play Bridge-if she could get paid to play cards, she would do it all day long. She has a unique collection of more than seven hundred Joker and Wild cards from around the world and is always on the lookout for new ones when she travels.

I liked the story from the beginning with one strong women who survived and even thrived living in a cave for 11 years, and was still very much alive with her only companion, a horse! It reminded me of the written storys of John Muir of the Sierras and books by Wallace Stegner describing the hard life of settlers on the praires of Montana and southern SK, Canada. I stated to the Wood Dragon Books that "You have a winner in this book" and "i am only half way through her book and it is one that one hopes doesn't end too soon". Here it is two days later, and at 8/10's through it is still very much a keeper. The author skillfully juxtaposes the old and the new, the good, the bad and the ugly of human nature and the technology of the 1860's with the younger generations contemporary use of internet research to locate, dig up and identify the remains Ben Cartwrights horse, saddle and saddle bag with its contents identified 160 years later! Ben C. survived the avalance but his horse didn't! What a story. You cannot make this up.

I've read other books that went beyond what was shown on tv, but there were so many inaccuracies in this one that any die-hard Bonanza fan would scrunch up his/her face in confusion.

Who was Lee? What happened to Hop Sing?

Little Joe's mother died when he was 5, not 3.

This book says there were three years between Joe and Hoss (6 and 9) and that Adam was out of grade school. There were actually 6 years between each brother down the line. Adam was born in 1830, not 1835. That would make Hoss's birthyear 1836 and Joe's 1842, which would then correspond with their ages when the first episode aired, set in 1860.

Adam went to school in New York, not London.

Rape victims don't just snap out of it and go on like the trauma is in the past. Especially ones who have been brutalized that badly.

The romance parts of the book read like they were written by an inexperienced teenager.

    A disappointing read, overall.

The Cartwright men came into our home every week. Their family values influenced us. This book is true to what they were and gives us a realistic 'aperçu' as to what happened to them. A most enjoyable and touching story. Thank you to the author for bringing the Cartwright men back into our lives.
