He's never going back and is prepared to make a life on this new planet especially when he's see a female of a species he's never seen before. A’rien, realizes pretty quickly that his female has unnatural defences and his protective instincts go into overdrive. They play a bit of a cat and mouse game until they begin to trust one another and as their trust grows so do the feeling between them. Both have no desire to go back where they came from. What they want is each other and to stay and make a life together. Will! They be able to? Will they meet some of the other couple that have been test here as well ?     I enjoyed the continuation of this sci-fi alien romance series with a side of kidnapping and controlled experiments. It was a fun, light and steamy read plus there is another oddly matched couple and another cute alien pet. Erica is a human who works for her rich controlling father, a criminal defense attorney. She finally decided she’d had enough when he tried to force her to marry. A’rien is a Taivanian who is a loner criminal awaiting execution for trusting the wrong woman. They both wake up naked on an island on a strange planet having no memory of being taken from their beds. While A’rien knows how to live off the land and has some aquatic characteristics, Erica does not. They are each given a woven sack, a map and another tool though A’rien finds them both and hides Erica’s. So he knows there may be a way to get off the planet but she does not. There is initially a language barrier but since A’rien has an advanced implanted translation device, he learns English quickly. There is attraction and chemistry between Erica and A’rien but they’ll have to deal with their painful pasts and fears in order to get their HEA. Despite being short, the story was well written, the characters had dimension and the storyline was engaging. The books in this series are standalones but have interconnected plots. While the main story arc was resolved here, the mystery of who brought them and why is not completely resolved. I am excited to read more in the series.

What I love the most is how the couple always comes to the planet at a rough time in their lives. Erica and Aeran were no different.     Another book in the “Exposed to the Elements” series, which are all standalone romances, but benefit from being read in order, simply because the history and background story make more sense then!

    This time, a human lawyer and an alien criminal are thrown together on a deserted tropical island.

    These books are sheer escapism and just plain fun. The couple need to learn to communicate, and overcome any issues they might have, before being tested. Ultimately, it makes for an enjoyable, lighthearted read, with a little romantic overtone.
    Recommended for those who enjoy sci-fi romance.

    A’rien has had a hard life, full of dangerous escapades that result in narrow escapes. He is quite the dashing rascal!
    Erica has always sought to please her highly controlling father - it is never good enough. Neither of these two has had an easy past. I think they’re a great match, once they work past those trigger points.
    I adore how protective A’rien is, while giving her plenty of independence in the beginning. I totally love their story! They have some pretty fierce dangers to face, their relationship is tested (it proves very strong). The companion critters these women find are just plain adorable - and smart! You really won’t want to miss this - it is fine entertainment!

This heroine’s back story was the weakest one so far thanks to her mustache-twirling villain of a father. It’s poorly done compared to the previous two, but the backstory bit is over quickly and the rest of the novel is quite cute.
