Spring's Showers: Romantically Seasonal: Spring Kindle Edition

4.3 out of 5 stars 35 ratings

Love can happen to anyone, anywhere, and in any season. It’s Romantically Seasonal...

They were gods.
They were celestial beings.
They were mythological creatures.

It didn’t matter what they were called. Names were merely a reflection of the current age and occasion. Throughout time, there was only one constant: a strong dedication to their own worthless pride.

Wars were fought... humans suffered... tricks were played... and all in the name of competition; a way of determining a hierarchy amongst themselves.

The strong thrived. The weak suffered.

He was at the bottom of the totem pole; taken for granted and ridiculed. Enough was enough. It was time to climb the ladder, aiming for nothing but the top. There was only one way to accomplish that goal.

The gauntlet was thrown. The challenge accepted. Respect was at stake, pitting deity against deity in a winner-take-all competition.

Cupid shed his stereotypical persona to bring about the bet of the century. For once and for all, he was going to prove helping people fall in love was, is, and always would be, the hardest job.

Four challengers stood at the plate, ready to swing. But would they actually find a way to bring about the romance of Valentine’s Day in their designated seasons?

In book one of this four part series, spring has sprung and Mother Nature is laying it all on the line. Nurturing flowers and growing the love between a couple can’t possibly be all that different, right?

Spring’s Shower is the first in the Romantically Seasonal series from the highly entertaining C.A. King. It is the story of a bet made between Eros and four other gods; Mother Nature, Neptune, the Grim Reaper, and Santa Claus. The gods believe that Eros has the easiest job of all of them and Eros challenges them to do just that. Each god much make a true love match to win the bet. First up is Mother Nature, who goes by Greta for this story. She travels to a small town and finds a gardener named Spring, who is as in need of love as her plants are in need of water. Greta thinks she’s found Spring’s perfect match in a stranded celebrity but it soon becomes clear that nothing is simple in love and war.

This book was so light-hearted and wonderful. If you’re looking for a palate cleanser after a dark romance or just need something that will give you warm and fuzzy feelings, this book is perfect for you! It is well-paced and the detail is splendid. The unique personalities of the gods and the mortals come alive with King’s word choice. Although there is no spice in this book it is one I challenge you to not smile throughout. I look forward to reading the next book that features Neptune in the summertime!

This is such a cute book. I really love the premise behind the love matches. It was so much fun seeing the gods interacting and boasting at easy Eros has it. Mother Nature goes undercover to try to make a love match and it goes horribly wrong. Spring is such a great person she absolutely deserves happiness and love but Mother Nature has a whole other plan for her love life than what her heart has been telling her for awhile now. This book made me laugh out loud, groan and smile at different times. The end is absolutely swoon worthy and I am so excited to read the next books in this series. If you’re looking for a funny adorable and oh so sweet romance, you are definitely not going to want to miss this one.

    Quote from the book
(“We’ve been here throughout time,” Nick answered. “We’ve done everything there is to do, even played games with mortal pawns, using them as we would chess pieces... or cards.”He held up his hand. “I’m not proud of it, but it was something that happened back in those days.)

The Gods have always interfered in the lives of mortals so it should come as no surprise when they make a bet that involves humans. Eros aka Cupid is tired of being low man on the totem pole, thought less of by the other Gods. Who are they to judge him and think his job, of helping everyone and everything find love is easy? True love is easy, that in itself is a joke, but let them just see how hard it is as they attempt to win the wager against him.

This is the first book in this series and I can't wait to read more. As a lover of mythology I was intrigued by the dynamic of the Gods' interactions and ways of thinking versus that of mere mortals, but at the core this is a sweet love story. This made such a fast, great read that I highly recommend this book and this author.

Spring's Showers: Romantically Seasonal: Spring is the first book in a four-part series. I always enjoy reading new stories from this author and this didn't disappoint. Cupid is having to prove to the other Gods and Goddesses that helping people fall in love is a worthwhile and important job. Will he prove his worth to all of them?
I really enjoyed this story and love the Valentine theme to it. The characters are fun and I like that we get a different look at the Gods and Goddesses. I needed a quick jolt of romance and this definitely hit the spot. This is a very quick and delightful read. I really am looking forward to the other books and seasons in this series.

I’m up in the air. Spring’s Showers has me tangled up in knots. I enjoyed the slight humor the author placed here and there. I don’t think the story itself did it for me. It’s up for debate though.
Eros is the laughing stock of the gods. No one has respect for him. A bet is made with 4 of his poker cohorts and this story in particular revolves around Mother Nature. They believe Eros has the easier job, so he bets them if they can each help a couple find true love, then he will take over their job duties for a year. Gods are immortal, so a year's nothing, right?!? lol
Mother Nature thinks she can just make it happen. Doesn’t matter if there’s a connection. Which is well here she’s wrong. Does she succeed? Or Does Eros come on top? Mind you he’s got 3 more to contend with. Would be a lot of work doing 5 different jobs, at the same time, in one year.
I do enjoy this author, so maybe this was a one off. I’m going to assume this will be a series since there’s 3 more bets to be won. I’m still going to give it a chance. You should too! Just because I’m tangled in knots about how I feel. You may love it!!

As someone who has been reading a lot of books centering around mythology lately, this was the perfect book for me. I love the twist that the author has put on the more popular ‘fantasy’ figures in this book.

The first book in the series focuses on Mother Nature after she and other popular mythological figures make a bet that they could do Cupids job without issue. I loved watching Mother Nature impersonate a kind old lady just trying to start a new life, and it was hilarious watching her get used to living in the real world. By the end of the book, I was rooting for Mother Nature to be victorious in her quest, having fallen head over heels in love with her.

This is not my first book by the author and it certainly won’t be the last. I love her writing style, attention to detail, and the many characters she has written up. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

Another fun read from C.A. King.
Spring’s Showers: Romantically Seasonal Spring is the first book in the Romantically Seasonal Series by C.A. King. It is a captivating paranormal romantic comedy with plenty of humour and sparks.
This is a shorter story- which I devoured in one very easy sitting. As I expected, Ms. King sprinkled this story with a lot of creative and originality, as well as a dash of quirkiness- which resulted in a captivating story.
What happens when you mix some gods, a bet, meddling mother nature, four seasons, a challenge, Valentine’s Day, a little chaos, cupid, and humour? You’ll want this book if you want to know what happens in this engaging story.
Bring on the rest of the series!
    Happy reading!

    Thank you, C.A. King!
