Missing Beats Kindle Edition
What would you do if a hot famous person rang your cell phone out of the blue? How would you feel if he asked to sleep on your couch?
Now, what would your answer be if this smoking hot man was a stranger to the adult you, but had been your soulmate when you were a child?
When Jo Carmichael answered this call, a tender heart beat out of time— but not in the happy and dizzy way you may think.
Most women would gladly beg for an opportunity to spend time with a handsome hot-blooded star, but they weren't Jo, and Kane Exeter's job didn't impress her. More importantly, he'd broken her heart.
However, with a burning curiosity to learn why Kane had deceived her, she doesn't refuse his pleading request.
Many women viewed a night with Kane as the most glorious time of their lives. To Jo, the man on the line wasn’t famous he was just an older version of a ten-year-old army brat she couldn't forget.
This book is a contemporary story with love, heartache, friendship, heart-stopping moments, finding your soulmate and second chances.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2017I really enjoyed the angst of this story, Josie and Kane are polar opposites yet the bond that they shared as kids has that pull from inside that made them find each other as adults. Yes I did get annoyed at Josie for much of the book, but really isn't that what tells you that you've got a good book in your hands? When the story gets into your gut and makes you want to yell at a character or 2, that is what I love about a good book. Emotions? yes from one end of the perspective to the other, it was awesome and happy and sad. Great story and I thought the Author did well to mix me up and get some mystery in there to give me a few surprises, Loved it! I look forward to her next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2017Missing Beats is a story of highs and lows. I wasn't sure I liked any of the characters to start; Josie was too straight laced, sensible and in denial for 95% of the book. I felt that every decision she made throughout the story was going to be the wrong one and I really wanted to punch her at times. She spends so much time believing that Kane's lifestyle isn't something she could live with and as a result, denies her own feelings for him. Frustrating! Kane is your stereotypical rock star, living it large. However, he's a cocky so and so and that alone makes him likeable. Plus he's persistent. Elliot though, ugh what a complete douche. He never got any better than the first chapter. Isn't that the sign of a great author though? Being able to bring out visceral reactions from the reader?
Everything that could happen to a person did so with Josie but I couldn't help feeling like it was her own fault because of the decisions she made. Well all except one and that was heartbreaking.
Missing Beats has all the feels. Love, passion, lust, anger, heartbreak and tragedy. You'll want Josie to get her head out of her behind half the time and spend the rest thinking she's got a point. When it comes to Kane, you'll be shaking your fist screaming oh no you didn't you horny toad! But ultimately you'll be rooting for them both.
I couldn't put Missing Beats down. The story flowed effortlessly and although I wanted to squeeze that extra star I'm giving this sexy read 4
- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2017If I a picture paints a thousand words, then Missing Beats was filled with lots of pictures. Jo and Kane's are the two main characters in the story. They met as children when both fathers were in the service and their connection from the start was instant and profound. After Kane’s father dies suddenly, they’re separated and don’t see each other again until they’re both adults.
As they reunite their connection is just as strong, although both are leading very different lives. Jo is the sensitive non-risk taker who doesn’t like change, while Kane is the mega rock star with thousands of adoring women ready to do anything he asks. Needless to say, Jo isn’t too pleased with the Kane she’s discovered as an adult. But that doesn’t stop her from wanting him and those old feelings reignite. Kane wants he then just another conquest, he wants her forever. On the other hand, no matter how much she may want and love Kane, her fear of being tossed to the side, is a constant problem for her. Jo wasn’t the easiest character to like at times. I found myself wanting to throttle her and ask what's wrong with you? But then, isn't that the mark of a well-developed character? She felt that real to me and I could actually imagine her in my mind's eye.
On the other hand, I absolutely fell in love with Kane. He’s sexy as sin, charming, funny, endearing, caring, loving and he felt very authentic. He’s of course great in bed, but being with Jo, stirs feeling inside him like no other woman ever has. Missing Beats is anything but formulaic and predictable. There were things in this story I never saw coming and I was actually shocked, but they only added to the depth of this brilliant story. I give Missing Beats a is a 5-star must read story.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 2, 2017Josie has had this ache in her heart of longing for the past 12 years to know how her childhood friend Kane was doing with his life. She never got over their connection they had. It was devastation to her heart the day they moved away from each other when she was 8 and he was 10. They saw each other one last time when they were 10 and 12. It had reopened her feeling of loss once again. Being such a passionate person she started to build up a wall around her heart. From that day forward loving another would be challenging for her. Then one day out of the blue she sees him being interviewed on tv. He's a rock star now and just as beautiful as he was 12 years ago. Her heart did somersaults at seeing him. Just hours later another shock to her system came when her cell rang and on the other end of that call was...Kane. From that point forward Josie's life was going to be forever changed.
The highs and lows of her emotions were exhausting to read. You felt so much for this couple. You learn through their lives that life is too short to not make every day count as if its your last. KL Shandwick did another awesome job to making you love this couple. You feel through her words how much joy and pain they went through. This was a very emotional book for me because of how real it felt. Don't pass up the opportunity to read this story of Josie and Kane.💓

5.0 out of 5 stars Not to be Missed this book. Absolutely brilliant!
Loved Missing Beats so much. What can I tell a reader about this author. Well you need to not think about shall I give it a go just do it! No spoilers please read!
Ive loved every book by kl shandwick and that's because they grip me from start to finish. And after a few sleepless nights due to the not when, but where do I stop reading part, I have these no can't sleep until I find out what happens next bit. And I love that the book does that to me.
Kl shandwick is so good at giving the reader not just hot men that you just want to jump in the book and do unthinkable things to them but after you wipe the drool from your mouth and wish you had his heart your gripped from each page you turn.
The twists that are unexpected are brilliant. I loved Josie and her family they all feel like a normal family and that helps bring the story to life. Sometimes a book can get you frustrated with characters but that's part of what makes it a great read you need to feel like your shouting at them even if it's in your head. Kane is a bad boy rocker and he has a past that he can't get out of his mind with a little girl that was a child hood friend. But who can resist a bad boy!
This is an unforgettable story that you might want to read again. I loved the funny parts to they make it feel more real. Laugh out loud moments are great in any story to me I love it when I have to go back and read that part again, then I think how the hell did the author think that one up? I've started to highlight the funny bits on my kindle now just so I can go back and read them again.
I loved that this is a standalone book I would be so begging for the next book if it hadn't have been. I highly recommend readers to give it a go.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Brilliant Story with Deep Feelings.
I have read Missing Beats twice over. It was such a delightful story and very well written. The characters of Kane and Jo were gorgeous and the interaction was superb. It was hot and sexy but with so much feeling to their tale that it got me tight in the heart and gave me so much pleasure I couldn't get into another book so I read it again and it still thrilled me to bits. K L Shandwick just kéeps turning out the most precious stories and I am loving them. Keep going K L and you have a loyal following!!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Grab some tissues you are going to need them!
I have wanted to read Missing Beats for such a long time and I am now kicking myself for not doing so sooner! This second chance romance will have you reaching for the tissues of that I’m certain. Having read many of Ms. Shandwick’s stories previously, I know this author has a tendency to put her characters through the wringer. There are some emotional scenes in this story, one or two mirrored my own personal experiences which of course brought back a multitude of memories and emotions.
You are going to love Kane Exeter, he is everything you’d expect a rock star to be - especially in public. However, away from the spotlight I saw a different side to him that I absolutely fell in love with.
Josie Carmichael may have a special bond with Kane but her life now couldn’t be more different to his, which causes them some problems. For such a young lady, she goes through so much in this story and I understood the reasons for her actions. I thought she was so strong choosing to protect those that she loves over having their help and support when she needed them most.
I loved witnessing Kane and Josie’s relationship. When things are good between them their interactions are easy and fun. The connection that they have had since an early age never wavered and I hoped that they could find a way to follow their hearts and be together.
I actually read this book throughout much of the night, wanting to discover what happens between the pair of them. My only niggle is that the issues that Jo had with accepting a future with Kane felt repeated, and yet I do appreciate that this was something massive for her to overcome.
Missing Beats is another great story from an author who I absolutely love reading. I award this novel 4 stars and look forward to devouring my next K.L. Shandwick book in the very near future.
