Dagger Jack (Cyborg Awakenings Book 5) Kindle Edition
Dagger Jack is a spinoff novella about a peripheral character introduced in Axel Rex. He was left clinically dead with catastrophic injuries sustained in an ambush by rogue cyborgs.
When he was awakened at the cyborg production facility south of Chicago, his life was mapped out for him. After he helped rebuild a city and a starport destroyed during an interstellar war, he would become a Protector in one of the rural communities reclaimed from the overlords in the east.
When he awakens the second time, he doesn't want to be a protector. Just before he went down, he scented his female. He wants to go back to find her before he has fully recovered.
He was made for war but only her love would make him whole again.

About the authors
Clarissa Lake grew up watching Star Trek and reading Marvel Comics. She attended science fiction and fantasy conventions where she met many well known science fiction authors and attended their readings and discussion panels. They included scifi greats Anne McCaffery, CJ Cherry, George RR Martin, Ben Bova, Timothy Zahn, Frederik Pohl, Orson Scot Card.
After years of fruitless efforts to get her books published traditionally, she discovered Kindle Direct Publishing and became an Indie author-publisher.
While she loves scifi, she always thought there should be more romance so she started writing it hot and steamy.
Christine Myers has been a science fiction fan since seeing the original “Day the Earth Stood Still” at age eight. Her favorite subgenre is science fiction romance with interstellar space travel and a bit of space opera. Among the most influential in her work are the Lazarus Long novels by Robert Heinlein including “Time Enough for Love”, and Marta Randall’s "Journey." She loves Star Trek, Firefly, Farscape, and Veteran Cosmic Rockers, the Moody Blues.
After spending years trying to get her work published by traditional publishers, she discovered KDP and became an Indie Author/Publisher. This means she does it all from writing to publishing.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2020This was was a supper short story with some action, sadness, sexy time and a touch of drama.
I do prefer this more realistic view on what happens once lawlessness takes over and innocent people suffer.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2020I have really enjoyed reading this series of books. I learn more about the cyborg and their quest for happiness and a mate to love. These are sweet love stories with some conflicts in the local area.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2020I really enjoyed this story about a cyborg finding and loving his mate. It would be nice to know that you had one person who was your mate and who would stay with you and love you for the rest of your lives.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2021Super book lots of emotional and mental images and a true survival
- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2020Chloe is a true survivor and much more could have been done with her story. Overall this narrative fell flat. From the horrible names (Stone Slater, Talan Hawks) that were, I’m hoping, attempts at puns, to the stilted language, and odd cyborg lifecycle (one year of life does not a man make) it just needs work.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good story but unemotional
The basic story is good, but the writing is emotionless and bland. It seems detached and I didn’t feel connected to the characters at all
