Clarissa Lake grew up watching Star Trek and reading Marvel Comics. She attended science fiction and fantasy conventions where she met many well known science fiction authors and attended their readings and discussion panels. They included scifi greats Anne McCaffery, CJ Cherry, George RR Martin, Ben Bova, Timothy Zahn, Frederik Pohl, Orson Scot Card.

After years of fruitless efforts to get her books published traditionally, she discovered Kindle Direct Publishing and became an Indie author-publisher.

While she loves scifi, she always thought there should be more romance so she started writing it hot and steamy.

    This book started off sooo good! Carly is on her way to meet her match Joven who lives months away on a distant planet. Then the spaceship is attacked by space pirates and Carly experiences a traumatic month. She is rescued and carried away by her mate Joven who happens to be in a sort of heat. I was so into it and then they get back to his planet and the story sort of sputtered. The sexy scenes were good and I liked the potential that the characters had. I did finish it hoping it would pick back up but it never did in my opinion.

    This is a great story and has a lot of drama, suspense, hate and love in it. Carly, a human finds out that her true mate is Joven who is a cyborg/feline shifter. On her way to be with him pirates who hate Joven capture the ship and Carly is tortured. The author does a good job with world building in this book and it’s a very enjoyable read.

    A new twist on the mail order bride story - with a hot, devoted alien and an earth woman.

    Carly is a teacher who is interested in getting married and raising a family. Unfortunately she doesn't encounter a lot of great prospective husbands. Carly and her best friend sign up for an alien mail order bride service, but forget all about it when they do not hear anything further.

    On a field trip to Washington DC the world changes when aliens attack the earth and Carly's best friend is killed in the attack.

    Carly returns back home trying to move forward, but the grief and stress from the event make it hard. When she is notified that she has been accepted to the mail order bride program and has been matched to a mate, she jumps for the opportunity.

    Joven is the male she has been matched to. And they seem to be matched well based on all of the sex in the story. About 1/2 of the book is about their relationship. There is enough story, action, and suspense written into the story to keep it a fun sci-fi story.

    If you love sci-fi stories with a hot, devoted, alpha alien and lots of sex - this is the book for you!

    Carly is matched to Joven through the mating agency. They married before ever being together. They get to know each other over a tablet while she is traveling to meet him on his planet, Glasica. While speaking with him one night the transport she is on is disabled and hijacked. Joven tells her to do as she is told and he will come for her. Will he get to her in time? Must read to find out.

    The first third of the book was OK then it deteriorated to soulless sex. There was no build up and very little emotion. It was like an on/off switch that was stuck in the on position most of the time.

    I think the author was trying too hard to be current with topics like recycling, protected species and wildlife preservation. To me, it just didn't go with feline cyborg humanoids. Then came the dinner parties, soirées and hors d'oeuvres which completely spoilt it for me. There was a lot of repetition and in the last third of the book copious new characters were introduced.

    I don't know what the author's other books are like but I found it painful finishing this book.
