About the authors
Clarissa Lake grew up watching Star Trek and reading Marvel Comics. She attended science fiction and fantasy conventions where she met many well known science fiction authors and attended their readings and discussion panels. They included scifi greats Anne McCaffery, CJ Cherry, George RR Martin, Ben Bova, Timothy Zahn, Frederik Pohl, Orson Scot Card.
After years of fruitless efforts to get her books published traditionally, she discovered Kindle Direct Publishing and became an Indie author-publisher.
While she loves scifi, she always thought there should be more romance so she started writing it hot and steamy.
Christine Myers has been a science fiction fan since seeing the original “Day the Earth Stood Still” at age eight. Her favorite subgenre is science fiction romance with interstellar space travel and a bit of space opera. Among the most influential in her work are the Lazarus Long novels by Robert Heinlein including “Time Enough for Love”, and Marta Randall’s "Journey." She loves Star Trek, Firefly, Farscape, and Veteran Cosmic Rockers, the Moody Blues.
After spending years trying to get her work published by traditional publishers, she discovered KDP and became an Indie Author/Publisher. This means she does it all from writing to publishing.

- Reviewed in the United States on November 7, 2018On one hand, this is a fabulous mix of rebuilding after a Space War and moments of steamy sensual pleasure. It is also the attempt to return from war to normalcy, only truly ending the war and returning to peace is not easy, especially since the local gangs and warlords do not wish to relinquish their control of the cities.
The Cyborg Jolt Somber senses his mate, only she is very close to dying. Upon finding her and taking her to safety, he collects the four sources of DNA that her attackers had left, hunts down the Cretans, and slowly kills them. Jolt is a cyborg of many layers. He can be gentle and loving or he can brutal and lethal.
What he truly wants is to live a happy life with his beloved. Only he must give her time to heal. And even when she does heal, it is possible that she might not want him. To find out, you’ll have to read this wonderful book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2023Liked the continuation of Cyborg Awakenings series.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2020I enjoyed this book. How can a woman not enjoy hunky big guys who are dedicated to their women? A happily ever after doesn’t hurt either. Next in series here I come.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2021Awesome read, I loved every minute of reading about Jolt and Iris ! It's a must read...very hot, hot hot...!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 3, 2020I liked this book so much more than book 1. Jolt was so hot and I liked his whole attitude about trying to save the earth. I’m glad I stuck with the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2018Short fast read. You could probably read this as a stand-alone but you’ll get more from the story if you read book one first. IIRC there was also a prequel. The story takes place on earth after a war wiped out civilization. Jolt Somber is a cyborg that was a warrior, bred to kill the enemy. He is clearing some old buildings to make way for a spaceport when he discovers a woman who has been raped and left for dead. He recognizes her as his genetic mate and saves and avenges her.
I thought the whole issue of the rape was covered well enough without dealing with details so there shouldn’t be a trigger. I also really appreciated that the author didn’t suddenly make her settle into life with knowledge that she couldn’t have (she wasn’t used to getting enough to eat and couldn’t read and write). It felt very plausible. Fun read. Looking forward to more in this world. (I voluntarily reviewed an ARC).
- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2021So glad to see that Jolt got his forever female. Of course you have to take the good with the bad. Read to find out what!
