There was something that happened in this book that I didn’t expect, but maybe I should have. The characters in this series are really great. Walt has many friends in all kinds of places. This was just a great book!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2021Oh my gosh. Wow. I can hardly believe what has happened in this installment of the Lady Justice series. I have no idea where Walt & the gang will go from here.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2021The characters are very real and the good ones are tough. The bad ones are truly evil. I'm looking forward to reading the next book!

- Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2021A good addition to his mystery series.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2021Robert Thornhill’s newest thriller in the Walt Williams Mystery/Comedy series is a little different than the previous ones. Number 45 begins with Walt being asked to run for the Kansas City Council seat against a corrupt politician. However, the election process leads to a tragic twist for the members of this loveable group of characters, leaving the reader with unbelief that this could be allowed to happen. But remember, this is just a story, not real life--although at times it seems to mirror events in our country. And like life, Thornhill’s story has side tales that dovetail into the main event.
Walt Williams has an uneasy alliance with the head of the Kansas City mob, Carmine Marchetti. As a former civilian partner of a Kansas City policeman, he feels strongly about law and order. But sometimes there are various levels of crime, and he has come to respect the need for cooperation and compromise to solve the worst crimes first. This is one of those times. To stop a bigger and more violent form of the mafia from taking over the daily running of the local gang, it is necessary to join forces with Marchetti, who in turn is willing to try to protect Walt’s life from the Chicago mobsters and when the tragedy happens, to help Walt seek retribution and revenge on the ones responsible for it. All the characters, the lawful friends and family and the shadier-side ones, who are regulars in these novels, are impacted by the events and determined to set the world right with Lady Justice leading the charge.
Maybe that’s what makes Thornhill’s books so beloved by his fans—they discuss real problems, and whether or not the reader agrees with Thornhill’s obvious slant on the issues he presents, they are thought provoking. A good summer vacation book!

(Lady Justice #45)
by Robert Thornhill
It has been a while that we have waited for this next Lady Justice book.
It was well worth the wait.
In this edition Walt Williams is convinced he should run for city council. The opposition is backed by the Russian Mob, while Carmine Marchetti and other friends back Walt. Even after Walt drops out of the race he finds himself tangling with the Russians.
There are some unexpected turns that had my jaw dropping to the floor.
The narration was well done. George Kuch is a familiar voice in unfamiliar times. He brought lots of feelings to life in this episode. The characters were well portrayed.
As always looking forward to whatever comes next. Thank You, Bob and George for the entertainment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another hit
I totally love the Lady Justice books. The stories all have good storylines and you can't help but love the characters. I must admit this book left me quite surprised with what happened to one of our friends...you're gonna have to read the book to find out. Well worth the read!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Would everyone like a warm cookie?"
This is no. 45 in this marvellous thought provoking and humerous series of stand alone stories about Walt Williams, now 77, who successfully joined the police for five years after retiring, and now runs a low key detective agency with his brother-in-law. There are several interconnected stories, as usual, and all of the gang of his curious family and friends make brief appearances. But this is a story with a difference, one which will radically affect any future books.
My deep thanks to the rights holder of Lady Justice and the Mob who freely gifted me with a complimentary copy of this excellent series, again narrated by the excellent George Kuch.
A must read.
