- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2024The Legend of Alexandria Wilheart is an absolute gem for fantasy lovers! This book kicks off Alexandria’s journey with all the action, intrigue, and world-building you could hope for. Magnus has created a rich, immersive world filled with unique lore, complex characters, and enough twists to keep you glued to the pages.
Alexandria Wilheart is a strong, relatable protagonist, and her backstory is woven into the plot in such a way that you’re immediately drawn into her struggles and triumphs. The storyline is gripping, blending high-stakes adventure with emotional depth, which adds a great balance of excitement and character development. There’s magic, conflict, and a sense of destiny, making it feel like a classic yet refreshingly original tale.
The writing style is vivid and descriptive, making you feel like you’re right there in the action with Alexandria. If you’re looking for a new fantasy series to dive into, Origins of Strife is an epic first book that promises an incredible journey ahead. Can’t wait to see where Alexandria’s story goes next!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 15, 2025This is a really fun, engaging fantasy tale. Alexandria is a good protagonist, one that feels like a real human being/a full character. The story is pretty fast paced and the action is enjoyable. As of the time of this review, I really think having an editor to fix the grammar issues present in the story, would be a huge help in not only improving the reading experience but elevating parts of the story to run smoother. But overall, the creativity is there and I look forward to seeing how this author keeps building the series
- Reviewed in the United States on February 24, 2025Fantasy is one of my favorite niches. This storyline pulls you in and keeps you interested all the way. I was impressed by the details and descriptive writing. The characters are interesting, challenging, and impressive. I recommend the book to anyone who enjoys fantasy fiction.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2025Whether you're a longtime fantasy fan or new to the genre, The Legend of Alexandria Wilheart is a great weekend read. As a fantasy author myself, I really enjoyed this. This fantasy is full of adventure that pulls you into the world of Vicarus, where Princess Alexandria’s relief at her father’s safe return from battle is short-lived. A new mission sends him and his knights into a conflict that threatens to plunge their world into chaos. Definitely worth reading!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2025The strongest component of this novel is the characterization. Alex herself is a compelling character. I'm not really sure what others are talking about regarding the formatting. It seemed perfectly fine to me. Maybe a lot of scene breaks. Overall, the story is good and the setting is rich.
My only criticism might be too many varied dialogue tags. Simply using "said" would do the job fine and make them less distracting. But besides that, I enjoyed it a lot.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 11, 2025What sets this story apart from others in this genre is the way it balances adrenaline-pumping action with heartfelt moments. The emotional weight of the characters' struggles and the mysteries surrounding the king’s new mission add a complexz layer. The relationships, particularly between Alexandria and those she holds dear, feel authentic and raw, which makes the story even more compelling.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 23, 2025There is a lot to write about this book. The prologue is very detailed, rich, and interesting. When I read the sample that is what I signed up for, but then it took a turn.
The pacing of the early book is very slow. I remember looking down at one point and seeing 24% finished and still no major plot point had happened outside of the prologue. If you pick it up, start on chapter 5. You’ll miss a few things, but honestly, everything important is referenced again anyway.
The book has an immersion issue. Based on the armor, weapons, and overall presentation, this is a medieval fantasy; however, the author uses references to testosterone, broadcasting, blueprints, and more. These are words that were created for the post-industrial revolution. They reference ideas, technologies, and understanding it brought. They don’t fit a medieval world. If they had the technology to understand the existence of testosterone, why are they still fighting with swords?
The formatting. A few other reviews mentioned it, but something is weird. I have my Kindle set to a specific font, but this book ignored it, and refused to let me change it. I had to read it on my laptop to zoom in. It was weird. Also, it didn’t link to my Good Reads account, even though I bought it on Amazon, and pretty much every Kindle book I buy there does automatically. Even when I listed it as ‘currently reading,’ it didn’t pull my highlights. As I said, something is weird with the download and formatting.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2024A great educational entertaining read all the way through. This book captured my attention all the way from start to finish. Discover the legend of Alexandria Wilheart. A true masterpiece of a story. This book stands out from the competition with it's highly detailed information and great valuable insight throughout. Very well done and highly put together. Kept me on my toes all the way through. Highly recommend this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ell-crafted fantasy world and story.
Kay El Magnus’s 'The Legend of Alexandria Wilheart' introduces readers to an intricately built world of political intrigue, family dynamics, and dark fantasy. Set in the land of Vicarus, the novel follows Princess Alexandria Wilheart, whose initial relief at the safe return of her father, King Amaris, and the Askaos Knights after their battle with the Sabaad quickly turns to anxiety. As the king embarks on a new mission with his elite unit, the world descends into chaos, and a darker, more dangerous force is unleashed upon Vicarus and beyond. One of the novel's strongest qualities is its pacing. The author crafts a compelling, fast-paced narrative that keeps readers engaged from start to finish. The tension between Alexandria’s personal concerns and the larger political conflicts surrounding her is tangible, and the stakes feel high from the very first chapter. This balance of personal and epic stakes adds depth to the story, preventing it from feeling like just another standard fantasy plot about a princess in peril. Instead, Alexandria is presented as a rich character whose growth and decisions are crucial to the unfolding events. The descriptions throughout the novel are vivid and well-crafted, offering a clear sense of both the physical world of Vicarus and the emotional landscapes of the characters. The settings—from the royal palace to the battlefields—are brought to life with a level of detail that immerses the reader without feeling overburdened by lengthy exposition.Alexandria’s journey is full of twists and turns, and the story keeps readers guessing about the true nature of the threat that looms over Vicarus. The author has a talent for revealing just enough to keep readers intrigued while withholding crucial information until the right moment. This slow reveal adds an element of suspense that’s crucial in a fantasy novel like this one, where the boundaries between good and evil aren’t always clear. However, The Legend of Alexandria Wilheart is not without its flaws. The formatting of the book is one of the more notable challenges for readers. While the writing itself is strong, the presentation of the text may distract some. The narrative shifts between different points of view and timelines, sometimes without clear markers, making it easy to lose track of which character is speaking or where in the timeline the reader currently is. While this stylistic choice may be intentional to convey a sense of confusion and urgency, it can also be disorienting, especially during crucial plot points when clarity is needed most.
