    A pleasant read. Very nice escape. I found it interesting that we not only had a "professional" heroin, but a female doctor as well, in a time where females were usually not allowed to be more than a companion or governess if unmarried. Quite forward thinking was our author of this historical romance.

    The author does a good job of weaving in the historical background of Florence Nightingale and nursing. This alone will make you respect the nursing profession and be proud of it. The story lives up to the author’s own words about her books: a hot alpha (Jared) , a sassy and smart submissive (Grace Miller, RN), and with a touch of kink that is more domestic discipline (two spanking scenes) than anything else.
    You can always expect the best from this author and get it.

    Grace’s Lover was a tale of forbidden love. This book grabbed my
    attention from beginning to end.I found the premise fascinating.
    It has a compelling hero, and heroine and I was intrigued by the
    storyline. There is drama, danger, romance, and punishments. This
    book was a joy to read

    How far would you go to compromise your values to be with someone
    you love? This is the dilemma that Grace Miller finds herself in when
    she meets Jared Blackstock. Grace is torn between her love for Jared
    and her career. Grace’s devotion to her career paid off, and she was
    now in charge of her own hospital. Jared unlocked unknown arousal
    and desire.

    Jared is a dominant man. He is a fair and kind man, but I thought his
    punishments were too harsh at times. I admired how Jared remained
    in control while still acknowledging Grace’s intelligence.

    There was many subtle tiny moments in this story that captured the
    depth of emotions. The love between Grace and Jared was obvious,
    but how Grace struggled. This book checked all the right boxes in a
    good romance. It has just the right amont of tension, emotion.heat
    and spankings.The chemistry betweenGrace and Jared sizzled. Their
    love was not convenient, but it was oh so magical.

    Grace meets Jared Blackstock as soon as she gets off the train to her new position as Nurse Manager of a ne hospital. Their first meeting does not go well as Jared feels she is too young. When Jared realizes that Grace is overdoing and not eating, he goes to the hospital and disciplines her and then gives her new rules to follow. At first Grace finds him overbearing, but she comes to realize that she cares for him. The two of them start a relationship which is definitely not the norm for the times.

    I also enjoyed the story of how the life was in a town that was the site for coal mines. Jared was a responsible mine owner, but there were others that were not. How that situation was dealt with was also very fascinating. I thoroughly enjoyed the story.

    I loved the way that Miss Florence Nightingale was brought into this story. The attraction of the two main characters, to each other was a joy to read. A wonderful researched book of coal mining in all it's terrible ways. A must read.
