Rita Hayworth thinks she's finally settling in to her new life in Hallow Hill. But boy, are there some surprises in store for her.

"BEST BOOK OF THE YEAR!" - Amazon Reviewer

from Rita Hayworth -
I have a daughter who knows nothing about my life in Hallow Hill and she's coming for college holiday break. Her visit will dovetail the Solstice Court Meet. It will be close, but if all goes according to plan, I’ll be out of magistrate robes in time to meet the plane. The problem here is that I have to include the qualifier
if all goes according to plan, and I ask you. When has anything in my life ever gone according to plan?

"Epic laugh out loud romance."

"Summarily stunning."

It may be too late for super shiny hair, going without a bra, or sleeping eight hours without a potty break. But it seems that it's not too late for navigating magical politics, expatriating, romance, and saving the world.
Fantasy for everyday heroines over forty.

"QUEEN OF ALPHA MALE CHARACTERS!" - Slashed Reads

Victoria's signature humor ("Everybody was staring at me because I was on the subway in fits of laughter and couldn't stop!") creeps into each and every book whether she intends it or not. But the heart of Victoria's books is romance, the real kind that often begins with slow burn then lasts and lingers like a charge in the air. Forever.

The rich characterizations and quirky personalities that readers so often comment about come from being a lifelong student of behavior - casually (love to people watch), and a serious student of behavior academically. She has also studied comparative religion, myths, and Dark Ages history.

Victoria lives in The Woodlands, Texas with her husband and a very smart, mostly black German Shepherd dog.

Midlife Mojo: A Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel (Not Too Late Book 3) -Victoria Danann

This is the third book in Victoria Danann’s PWF series and I am still out of breath from the constant action, crazy events, magical court proceeding, new magical characters, the daughter’s early visit, an amazing enforcer male partner, the list goes on.
This is a phenomenal series which needs to be read in order.
The mesmerizing world building continues to expand as well as the introduction of new characters, (Fae queens and a Fae King, new realms in fairy and even some from Valhalla).
This is a community of magical beings and objects that continues to draw me in and has a hard time withdrawing from at the cliffhanger endings.
Plus the sassy, kick ass take no prisoner heroine,Rita, is not just a strong heroine but proves being over a certain age is the perfect time to embark on a new life!

Rita is busy preparing for the next week of court, and her daughter's visit the following week. Unfortunately, her daughter has other plans and shows up a week early announcing that she wants to see Oxford University were she has been accepted as s student.
These characters are unique, compelling, and sometimes funny. Poor Rita is at her wits end until her friends in the community step in with reassure that they will keep her daughter safe. Some action, suspense, and laugh out loud funny court room drama. Fantastic book.

Absolutely not the same old plot. Well, except for now when the evil arch nemesis is coming into play. Hopefully the next installment will be just as much fun as the last

Victoria Danann creates such wonderful worlds and such amazing characters. This series is no exception. Midlife Mojo is the third book in the Not to Late Series. In the first book, Rita was offered a dream job (well, my dream job) which included living in a picturesque British village filled with magical beings. She is to be the Magistrate, a human chosen by the Powers that Be to judge disputes between the nonhuman beings. In the latest book she is learning to feel much joy in her new life, building strong friendships, and perhaps even falling in love. Even with the rumours that Queen Maeve is stepping down and that Diarmuid will be the new king, things are going along rather smoothly. She may be shaking up things with her judgments in court, but despite a mad Kelpie, she seems to be winning the support of the community. Then her daughter shows up a week early. And why is the Jersey Devil paying Rita visits at night?
This was a delight read. It was hard to put down and I can’t wait until the next one comes out. I would just love to go to one of Rita’s special luncheons as well as eat at the pub and visit the shops in the village.

Best book of the year! I know it's just the start of 2021, but, it's going to take a lot to top this one! In true Victoria Danann style, she grabs a hold of you and refuses to let go! Just stay for the ride, it's a wild one! It has so many feels! So much humor! This is a stay up all night kind of read! I love going to court. Love hanging with the Hallow Hill residents. This Epic story has a romance that brings warm fuzzies and tears to my eyes. The obvious love fills me to brimming. In true VD style I was laughing out loud so many times! You never know what is going to happen next! So many surprising events! This is the third book in the (Not Too Late) series. Best if you read the other books 1st. If you want to go on the ride of your life, get this book and start reading! From a Forever Fan... Pam James

This was a great continuation of the series, but way too short! If you haven't started the series yet, it's a great one - magic abounds, there is a wide variety of characters, it's smart, and it's sexy without being obnoxious. The things I did not like about this installment were, (1) It was poorly edited. A good copyeditor is needed to go back through and make corrections. (2) The cliffhanger ending. :(

What a MAJOR HOOT is this series of books - completely away from "my" normal life but I want "her" life - Rita's - WOW !! I know I'll hate it when they finish but the story lines really grab you & make you fit in with them as you read these books & can't say one is better than the other because I enjoy ALL of them so far. Victoria Danaan thank you. I do luv many things about these books but i gotta say - I want a Romeo too please !!

I absolutely love this series! Very imaginative. The characters are strong, and the magical world comes to life with the author’s words. The main character is a human who is chosen as magistrate to the magical world. The cases and the rulings are amazing. There is a strong humour in this book that is quirky and fun. Highly recommend this series. Can’t wait for the next book!

2.0 out of 5 stars Warning: This book should be classified YA!
Reviewed in Germany on January 25, 2021
First of all: I like the plot and thought it was somewhat original. I bought all the previous books. Now I'm not sure if I'll continue.
That's quite sad, because: I like the plot as said. Everything else is horrible and it gets worse from book to book.
I really struggled to finish it and had to put it down quite a few times because I was getting exasperated with it (mostly with the minute details of inconsequential daily tasks and cloths and the superficial thinking of the heroine).

    Plot 3 out 5 stars.
Plot originality: 4 out of 6 stars.
Characterisation 1 out of 5 stars or less.
Editing: there are quite a few editing problems: typos (in the paid kindle version) and plot disruptions

This is NOT a book for grown women. This book should be classified as YA where the heroine is in her forties. She could be in her teens and nobody would find a difference regarding her behaviour. Problem: she neither thinks, acts or talks like a grown adult. She behaves like an incredibly spoilt teenager who is sure to be the center of the world and everybody accomodates her. She beliefs to be liked no matter what and treats others in a condescending way where her opinion is superior and everybody else is wrong or needs to change. That's actually a lot of it: she expects everyone to change according to her wishes and whims. Her behaviour is adolescent, superficial and completely selfish. The idea that people would just let her behave like that and adore her is so out of reality that it just doesn't make it even remotely believable. It's as if a 13 year old was imagining the perfect adult life and then wrote it down. Yeah - life doesn't work that way and people neither.

The whole book is a klichee - from taking baths in candle light to walking outside with dogs etc. .... And I've done both and not just once. It's not such a big deal at this age. And I AM in my mid-forties so I know what I'm talking about.

The other thing is fashion: one quarter or more of the book is fashion related. No, I don't care why that particular shade of whatever colour would go better with this particular shade of a different colour and this type of boots. No, cashmere socks in rubber boots will not keep your feet warm in the snow, you need alpaca socks for that (yes, I know this from personal daily experience). And no, I don't care what cut a jacket has or which material goes best with another. The descriptions of what who is wearing when and why is increasing in every book and gets more and more annoying.

Also: having dogs is a joy, yes, walking and playing with them as well. But writing so often about this and getting repetitions of that over and over again is irritating.

Keir is getting on my nerves slowly as well. No man, expecially someone as old as he is supposed to be, would fall in love with a shallow, selfish, immature and neurotic woman as the heroine. And no man behaves like him either. Unless he is a dog turned human. And that's how she treats him actually ....

All in all I'm giving the book 2 stars for the plot itself but I would give minus stars for the above mentioned rest.
I can not in good faith recommend this unless you have an abundance of time and like YA in which the teenager lives out an ideal dream of a supposed adult life ... then go ahead ......

I'm really sorry if that review might be offensive to the author - it's my honest critique a bit brutally undiplomatic and I hope to read better in the future ........
