Lorelei Johnson is an Australian romance author, primarily writing Paranormal Romance and Fantasy Romance. She graduated from Flinders University, where she studied English Literature and Creative Writing before she discovered her degree was useless and she hated studying in an institution. She went into administrative work where she learnt just enough business sense to start publishing her own books.

Lorelei is fuelled by caffeine and sarcasm, priding herself as a true 90's kid. She labels her self-publishing as anti-establishment, but really she's just a chicken who decided to avoid the gatekeepers all together and enjoy the freedom to write whatever the heck she likes. Through her writing, she likes to explore the many facets of love and revel in a little magic and a little smut, of course.

I’m going to start by saying I don’t typically read fairy tale retellings because I feel like they usually fall flat but this one definitely met AND exceeded my expectations. When I read the description I was a tad hesitant and wondered how the story would unfold but it did not disappoint. This book had a bit of everything and I loved how Henri responded to Cinderella’s mere presence as well as her responses to things. And without giving anything away I loved the addition of the history/backstory (you’ll understand when you read it). If you love a good romance and a unique fairytale retelling then pick this book up today. You won’t be disappointed!

This novella is a wonderful retelling of the fairytale. Prince "Charming" is more alpha and demanding. The chemistry and banter between the two is great. Quite an enjoyable read.

This is your typical take on Cinderella when she’s sold into the world of sex trafficking. You know, same old, same old. (Sarcasm, is that you my old friend?)

Prince Henri is a whore and The King has had enough of his debauchery so he asks a servant to fix it. Instead of ending his kinky shenanigans, she basically becomes his pimp and hires him one girl after another.

The newest purchase is none other than Cinderella.

Henri was tiring of the simpering airheads and the power hungry gold diggers. Apparently he’s a fan of a girl that fights him both physically and intellectually.

He’s a bit of a jerk but I have to admit I like his sadistic edge.

Our spoiled prince decides for his amusement to place a bet with Cinderella. If he couldn’t make her fall in love with him in a month then he’d free her from captivity.

What the prince never foresaw and what proved that karma really is a wretch. Was that he would be the one to fall. Don’t you just love that sexy bish, Karma?

So, what happens when the clock strikes twelve? Well, I guess you’ll just need to read this delightful erotic take on a classic fairy tale to find out.

A short and sweet retelling of a classic fairy tale.
Instead of catching the prince's eye at the ball, Cinderella caught his attention fifteen years earlier, too bad prince Henri doesn't remember. When our evil step mother character decides to get rid of her Cinderella problem, the prince and Cinderella are thrust together once more, but not in a way Cinderella ever would have thought possible.
I really enjoyed this short story, which is what it is, rather than a full book. So if you're looking for something to fill up an hour or so, and enjoy fairy tales with a bit of adult spice, this is perfect. The actual love scenes are not particularly steamy, but the tension and romantic buildup are fairly well paced based off of the brevity of the work, and definitely enjoyable, and there's enough steam to make it delightful bedtime reading. I liked both Cinderella and Henri, despite the fact that I wish Cinderella would have been more vocal about things that were bothering her, and the fact that Henri really needs someone to not fall head over heels for him so his ego can get taken down a peg. By the end, you get a nice little HEA along with a little revenge, a perfect ending to an adult fairy tale.

Trigger Warning: If you are bothered by dubious consent, this story isn't for you. All interactions are framed as pleasurable, and you can tell Cinderella wants them inside her head, but the actual consent part is not there, and she gives outward signs of not consenting.

A slightly different version of the classic Cinderella story. This spicy short retelling was definitely sweet and included all of our favorite characters!

Lorelei Johnson's version of Cinderella took a dark turn, and I loved it.
Sweet Cinderella is a slow-burn romance full of surprises, as that will keep you on the edge of her seat.

Prince Henry is a selfish playboy prince, but there was more behind this facade.
I loved how strong Cinderella was. She doesn't let everything that is happening to her bring her down and keeps fighting for freedom.
This couple comes together in a very unconventional way, but that doesn't make them have less chemistry. They were constantly challenging each other and bantering what gave the story some humor.
The steam was okay, there weren't that many scenes, and they weren't(t that spice. Personally, I wouldn't have mind with some more spice.

My Sweet Cinderella is a short story (90 pages) and can be easily read in one sitting. It was fast-paced with excellent character development. The story is written in Third-person pov. Lorelei Johnson did justice to the original fairy tale but also made the story her own.
My Sweet Cinderella is a quick, seductive retelling of the famous fairytale that will pull you in and won't let go till you are finished.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

    STEAM: 🔥🔥🔥

What a clever (and HOT) retelling of Cinderella!

Similar to the original, Cinderella is an orphan left to the whims of her stepmother, who has her working as a servant in her own childhood home. To pay some bills, the stepmother sells her to the palace, where she is to serve as Prince Henri's concubine.

Prince Charming is trying to evade the second half of his name as much as possible. He cycles through concubines with as little discretion as possible, and he is fighting so hard against his father's wishes to get married.

Cinderella fights off the Prince's advances so he proposes a bet. If the Prince can get Cinderella to fall in love with him within a month, Cinderella has to stay with him until he lets her go. If she remains unaffected by him, he will grant her freedom.

This novella was well done; it is a refreshing take on the fairy tale. While I was skeptical about the concubine spin at first, Lorelei Johnson did a remarkable job in building this amazing connection between Cinderella and Henri. The slow burn culminates into a super hot HEA.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best Cinderella retellings I've read!
Reviewed in India on August 29, 2021
One of the best Cinderella retellings I've read! This was a proper slow-burn romance with lots of cute banter and playful challenges between Cinderella and the Prince.

This book has a darker premise - there is no magic or glass slippers or fairy godmothers - in fact, the stepmother sells Cinderella to be a slave right at the beginning of the story.

But by chance or luck, Cinderella is made to work at the castle, and more specifically, to serve the Prince. He strikes a playful bet with her - if she doesn't fall in love with him by the end of the month, she's free to leave.

The build-up to their HEA was executed really well, with proper justice done to their individual character developments. I'm excited to see this author's upcoming retellings ❤️
