    The representation in this was really well done. Emmy was a fun character and as a plus size person myself, it’s really wonderful to see myself represented in characters- especially some of my thoughts.

    Lately, I’ve been loving stories that center around bookshops so this really hit the mark with that.

    There were moments where the build up was great then the scene fell a little flat but overall this really was a great story.

    Perfect cozy and fun read for the spooky season or really any season.

    I wanted so badly to LOVE this but in the end it was just okay. Some times I felt suspense building only for it to fizzle out or be anticlimactic. I absolutely LOVED the MC. Seeing a plus size character with a mental health illness is powerful. I felt like there were scenes missing for certain transitions… for example from her meeting Jonathan to them loving each other, it didn’t feel like enough happened or like they really knew each other. He was wary of her and she of him and then suddenly they were in love. Same goes for her wanting him to leave forever (which seemed randomly dramatic af), and then suddenly she decided no never mind let’s have sex. I loved the twist at the end with Maggie and Lizzie, and I loved the cat and old bookstore and witch vibes. I wish we had gotten more closure however with the fact that Lizzie was never actually her friend. Like was she faking it the entire time? Is Lizzie a sociopath? Was she truly their descendant?And I also don’t quite understand how Emmy was the most powerful word witch ever and it took her two years to write/bring him back. I expected a more immediate and powerful thing to happen when he returned, like she wrote their story or she wrote something within days or weeks. And I felt like their reuniting after two years should have been longer, not just a handful of sentences. These are all just my opinions of course. I felt like the writing was flowery and pretty and I enjoyed certain parts of this book and I felt the plot was unique. But it had just a few things missing and perhaps certain parts were drawn out too long, with little action causing some anticlimactic moments while other parts needed more explanation. All in all, it was okay!
