Ace’s Tenacious Bride: (Matchmaker's Mix-Up Book 13) Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 214 ratings

Can a spirited pastor’s daughter up the ante, causing a card-playing, cigar-smoking workaholic to wager his heart?

Mercy Fairchild, a pastor’s daughter, is ready for adventure. She’ll comply with her late father’s last wish—to obtain the help of a matchmaking service and find her a young pastor out west to marry. Yes, she wants God’s perfect plan for her future, but she hopes it will be an exciting plan. Perhaps a missionary in a new territory?

Widower Ace Caldwell’s unruly children make keeping a housekeeper impossible. The last one left in less than a week! If he could only be as good a father as he is a card player! But with his job as a railroad detective, he can’t be home more than a day or two each week. At least a wife would be legally and morally vested to remain. Wouldn’t she?

Sometimes a mixup is really God's sense of humor taking control and leading you just where you need to be!

Such was the case with Mercy, the daughter of a pastor, who had just lost her father. She and her sisters needed to marry and Mercy decided to become a mail order bride. Her request was to marry a pastor or a missionary out west. Well, she got a man on a mission, but not quite what she thought!

With two boys and a daughter, Agent Ace Caldwell, railroad detective, gets talked into a mail order bride. Unfortunately, he just wants a housekeeper and someone to take care of the kids, while he is out of town chasing bandits!

When they meet.... Well, lets just say, the two are opposites, but you know what they always say? Opposites attract!

Such a delightful story, filled with humor, wonderful characters, including a slew of secondary characters that I hope have a story in the future! Kimberly creates stories of the heart, and I absolutely loved the thoughts at the start of each chapter! Always made me chuckle!

This was a fun book to read. Ace and Mercy's story is very good. The kids were a great part of the story also. I liked how Mercy kept her faith in God for His 0lan for her life. Ace learned to have faith again and that not all women are like his first wife. If you like sweet, clean, somewhat humorous romances, you will enjoy this one.

Mercy Fairchild is a force of nature. Wanting to settle down with a young pastor out west, she is mistakenly mail-order matched with a polar opposite in the person of "Ace" Caldwell and his three out-of-control children. Cigar smoking, card sharp and often missing railroad detective, he is not at all used to being upbraided and shamed by the fired-up young beauty that has invaded his kingdom. In chapter four the author uses a hilarious literary feature called "incongruency." That is where two people think they are talking about the exact same subject but they are each talking about entirely different things. The result? Brilliant and gut-busting humor! How on earth are these two ever going to get along? Read number 13 in the series, then for heaven's sake, read the other 12! What a brilliant idea Matchmaker's Mix-ups is. Trust me, all the authors in this series are a "cut above."

Ace and Mercy were two of the best couples in a while. Enjoyed his children, Jack was a real character. David and Thea were the exception. Hopefully we will revisit this couple and see the outcome of her sisters Faith and Grace. Really sweet and entertaining. Couldn't put it down. Like to see the outcome with his brother in law and the blacksmith. All of them need companionship.

What sort of mess did that matchmaker's cat cause?! This pair is a mess. Guess it is a good thing they are both beautiful people. I really want her to leave him though. Men like that don't deserve a woman like Mercy, and there are plenty of other men who might appreciate her. Now if she switched up to Hiram for example...

She was a pastor's daughter and expected to be matched with a pastor. He was anything but. I enjoyed how the author moved the characters, each with their quirks and weaknesses, into becoming better and growing closer as a family. Great characters and a fun plot full of action. A great read.
