Shooting Star in the Rain: (A best friend's little sister, single dad, rock star romance) (Sons of Sin Book 3) Kindle Edition
Lust is temporary...
Yeah, that’s what I thought anyway, but I’ve lusted after my best friend’s little sister for years. Long before I had a right... before it was legal.
The night I decide to confess my sin, a knock on the door turns my world upside down. Put my desires on the back burner.
Now, I’m older, wiser, and a single father to blue eyes that own me, but when I need a nanny for my band’s tour, guess who volunteers?
Whoever said lust is temporary can kiss my ass.
Shooting Star in the Rain is book three in the Sons of Sin series. It can be read as a stand-alone but is best enjoyed when read with the preceding books.
WARNING: This book is not for the faint of heart. It will tear your heart out and stomp on it before putting it back together. The characters are not perfect and the heroes are flawed. If you’re looking for sunshine and rainbows, I suggest you try another book. But if you want real emotions a happily ever after, then you’ve found your book.
For mature audiences only. Please refer to Nola Marie's website for full disclaimer.

About the author

Louisiana-born and raised Nola Marie loves spicy crawfish, rock music, high drama, and all the glitter, despite being extremely introverted with a severe case of anxiety. As a child, she preferred her imaginary friends to real ones and fiction to reality, a condition that has lingered and grown, and in 2019, she decided to share the voices in her head with the world.
When she's not writing, she can be found with her nose in some other fictional world or having conversations with people no one else can see, but it's okay. She's a writer ;-)
Feel free to find her and yell about her dramatic character through Instagram or Facebook. She loves to hear from you.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2024This book had it all. A great storyline, all the emotions and all the romance. I couldn’t put it down. It had me up all night giggling and kicking my feet. Jake surprised me as I wasn’t sure what to expect when I saw the tropes but this blew me away, 10/10
- Reviewed in the United States on November 22, 2021This was my first book by Nola Marie and it definitely will not be the last. I loved the story, the suspense, and the emotional journey she took us on and the writing was just really darn good. I felt like I was inside the heads of the two main characters, like I really knew them. I also really liked the side characters as well.
Jake was the ultimate, swoony book boyfriend. He was thoughtful, protective, and incredibly loving with both his girls--Cara and his daughter, Lyra. Oh and Lyra was just the cutest little thing!
I definitely wanted to shake Cara a few times, though I empathized with her for her past but I am so glad Jake was able to get her to trust again.
All in all, just a really fast-moving read that I'd recommend to anyone.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 3, 2021Ive been following the Sons of Sin from the beginning. Jake was a character I was dying to know more about. Honestly, his story wasn’t it for me.
I don’t know what I wanted from it, but I do know I didn’t get it - storyline wise. I did want more about Jake, but this book was definitely more focused on Cara. I wanted to know more about her as well and I’m glad that we find out about her past. That answered plenty of questions.
It took me far longer to get into this one than I expected. I really don’t know why. The writing is great as usual, the steam is there for sure but it’s a slow start. Once it got going I flew through it.
Those last couple chapters were not what I wanted either. Such a fast forward. Now I want to know details of the missing time. I don’t know if we’ll get those in the future. I have hope though.
There were plenty of times I wanted to smack both Jake and Cara (and Dane too honestly). They all needed a wake up call - and the one they got was WILD.
I LOVED the amount of time we got with Lyra. That little girl has my freaking heart. She’s such a bubbly light for the band and I hope that light stays bright!
The sneak peek for the next book is KILLING ME. I need it - like yesterday.
Overall I’m gonna go with ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for this ARC. There was more than enough good stuff to outweigh the bad even though I feel like this review was focused on the negative.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2021Overcoming a traumatic event is horrible and this book covers it in such great depth it was astonishing! I was so in love with how every single aspect of this book played out. There is not a thing about it that I would change. So unbelievably amazing! A true five star read!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 20, 2022Just when you don't think a book can get any better.. Nola Marie! She did it again, a book filled with angst and emotions.
I love this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2022What do you do when things go sideways? You learn to depend on the people that you love not because they love you but because it gives you strength. In the story of two soul crossed lovers who have so many problems that they have to get through but I also have to realize that loving someone can become a strength. Great book
- Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2021Shooting Star in the Rain is the third book in the Sons of Sin series, and this is Jake and Cara's story. Jake fell for his best friend's sister, Cara, a long time ago. Unfortunately, just as he was ready to make his move, his life took an unexpected turn. Now, Jake is a single dad ready to go back on the road with the band that he once walked away from. They're hitting it big and they need his help on tour, but the only way that he can go is if he takes a nanny on tour to help with his daughter. Although she knows that it's probably not the best decision, Cara volunteers. Cara is broken, but she's trying to hide her pain from her brother and his band. Jake won't let her hide though, and they're both about to learn each other's secrets.
This is a well-developed single dad, rock star romance, with some suspense thrown in too. Cara has been through a pretty horrific experience, so there are a few triggers for sensitive readers. Although you could read this as a standalone story, there is a lot going on with the other characters which carries over from the previous books. Trust me, you'll want to read them all. This third installment answers a lot of the questions from books 1 and 2, but there is still some mystery surrounding the other bandmembers. I can't wait to see where their stories take us.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely story
Lyra a beautiful little girl with a rockstar daddy plenty of funny moments with Angel & the other guys but Cara story is heartbreaking as she struggles to get over a traumatic experience can a little girl and her daddy show Cara the love she deserves

4.0 out of 5 stars Super cute story
Jake and Cara’s story had many of my favorites: best friends little sister/forced proximity/nanny and single dad/ with a hint of suspense.
I loved that both characters had some serious baggage they needed to work through if they were ever going to get their HEA. Neither characters growth felt forced and both seemed incredibly relatable.
Flow and development was incredibly smooth and made me feel like I was long right along beside them.
I loved the cameo appearances by all former series fav characters, as well as the newest and cutest - Lyra.
