4.8 out of 5 stars 142 ratings

Children often struggle with big feelings and emotions. It takes practice to have them regularly look outside of their own experience to see how their friends and peers are feeling.

The Power of Kindness Through the Eyes of Children shows the rippling effect of how being empathic and kind can generate kindness to others. It demonstrates how each of us can help impact the world around us with simple acts every day.

This book helps children understand they have the power to shape their daily interactions with others, as well as, recognize when someone needs their support, generosity, and kindness.

The Power of Kindness helps children to understand that a kind word or act can change someone’s day when delivered at the right moment.

In The Power of Kindness, Orbit and the children learn…
  • “that no matter how big or small my action is, I can make a difference in the world.” Christopher age 8

A story about showing kindness, The Power of Kindness: Through the Eyes of Children by author Ruth Maille is a colorful and memorable children's book. Examples of how children can be kind to others by sharing, spreading joy, and understanding the needs of their friends and family are shown throughout the story.

Review

"The many answers provided by children exemplify the concept that kindness is a simple act, sometimes just a word, that can make another person's day a little brighter. The question/answer approach also opens the door to allowing readers to contribute some of their ideas. Beautifully told and presented." Emily-Jane Hills Orford for Readers' Favorite

"I fully embraced the good feelings within the pages of The Power of Kindness: Through the Eyes of Children and found myself smiling from cover to cover before going back for a second and third time. Ruth Maille's
wonderful tale of doing good things for others so they will feel good also and share it along is definitely a wonderful thing that children need to learn to improve the world in which we live. Doing good for others brings warmth and understanding among those of us who have seen the result of what doing the opposite inflicts. So often today, we find ourselves surrounded by people who know only selfishness and spite - so much so that when kindness shows itself, it brings surprise, shock, awe, and inspiration to do good for those around you. My heartfelt so much lighter after reading The Power of Kindness: Through the Eyes of Children that it brought an end to any dark and sad feelings inside me. I strongly urge this book to be read not only by young readers aged 5-12 but also by those of us who are older and feel like breaking the restraints that today's harsh world seems to have brought to us. I congratulate Ruth Maille on a truly inspirational book and look forward to reading many more from her in the future." Rosie Malezer for Readers' Favorite

From the Author

As an educator, parent relationship coach, and mom, it excites me to share my fourth book in The Power of ... series. Working with children for 32 years in my licensed family daycare/preschool, I have first-hand experience seeing the impact of the information in this book and series on the lives of the children in my care. My pre-schoolers passion for curiosity and learning new things has inspired each of my books. One of the best ways to feed children's curiosity is through reading books, asking questions, and listening to what they have to share. I am blessed to be in my 32nd year of running my own daycare/preschool, and I continue to learn something new every day from my children.

Great book for small and whole group discussion about social skills. We enjoyed reading it together and giving examples about what is kindness.

This is a fantastic story about ways to show kindness to someone. The children have several good ideas, and the take away is that everyone can be kind if they choose to be because kindness is a choice. Each one of us makes many choices every day. Why not do something that spreads joy? If we want others to be kind to us, we need to be kind to them. Even if they don't catch on right away, don't give up on them! Some people need a little more experience than others, but all of us can make it a good habit if we're willing to try hard enough.

This is something we should definitely share with our children! Not only is it a great message, but the illustrations are well done, too.

The deep appreciation and understanding that the author, Ruth Maille, has for children make this book captivating for both children and adults alike.

The beautiful illustrations invite readers of all ages to enjoy the world through the eyes of children. The engaging hero, Orbit, helps children to learn the power that they have every day to make our world a better place through choosing kindness. He uses questions to help children look for and find kindness all around them while encouraging them to use their imaginations to create ways they can exercise kindness to the people in their lives.

Orbit's wisdom to listen and learn from the children is a great reminder to all of us as adults to follow his lead.

Truly this book is a gift to help our children be empowered to create and live in a much kinder world. A definite win/win for everyone!

What a great book Ms Maillie to write in a pandemic to still show kindness is still alive no matter our circumstances. It was well illustrated by Mr Mehra and very colorful. My granddaughter and I enjoyed it very much, and we often talk about being kind in a world of stress and inflation. I recommend this book to parents to remind their kids to be kind no matter what because people live in fear when they aren’t sure what will happen next in their lives. I gave this book five stars because it instills kindness and love no matter what!👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏

I love the message of this book but don’t understand why marajuana designed wallpaper needs to be in a children’s book. I get that high quality weed is called “kind” but don’t think it needed to be in a book for kids. Luckily my grandsons parents were amused.

The Power of Kindness: Through the Eyes of Children by Ruth Maille is a vibrant and fascinating picture book for kids. Throughout the story, there are examples of how children can be kind to others by giving, spreading joy, and understanding the needs of their friends and family.
Through the eyes of children, The Power of Kindness demonstrates how being sympathetic and compassionate may spread kindness to others. Empathy is the greatest virtue of all. If you will not have empathy there is no way you’ll feel the pain of people suffering and will never be able to help them. That’s why it is necessary for children and even for adults to have sympathy towards others. It highlights how basic daily actions may have a positive impact on the world around us.
This book is full of illustrations which makes it even more interesting and it is actually the perfect way of explaining things to children. The sync between the illustrations and the explanation given is perfect. This book is definitely a good read for children and even adults. This is a perfect book. One should definitely make use of their time by reading this. Highly recommended!!
