Demon (3 in 1 Boxed Set) (Mike Rawlins and Demon the Dog Book 16) Kindle Edition
The first three books in the Demon series
Book 1
Five high school seniors were going to the 'haunted house' when their car wouldn't start. Mike Rawlins who is a sophomore and works at his dad's auto shop stopped by and got the car going for them. They convince Mike to go with them to the haunted house and he does, but not before stopping and getting holy water at the church and buying salt. Mike had been there before, he knew to be prepared.
Once in the house the girls are less than enthused. Talk about creepy. Mike makes a circle with the salt and holy water. The others think he's really nuts. Jerry and Stan are excited and Mike? Well Mike's been here before and he's less than enthused. The guys then head for the cellar. The cellar that has a huge stinking sinkhole and a metal hatch. The guys try to pull the hatch up only to have it fly up on its own.
It releases a luminescent wave that goes through the entire house and crashes into their salt circle. This thing is screeching with rage and loud enough for the teens to grab their ears in agony. They all jump into the circle. The circle that is their only protection from this thing.
Enter an emaciated mixed breed dog. The dog dives right through the apparition, jaws ripping at thin air. The dog then begins herding the apparition as though it were a sheep. Snapping and growling without fear until inexplicably the monster disappears. They all make tracks out of that house as fast as they can.
Mike takes possession of the dog. A dog he names Demon. Demon is an Australian Shepherd/Lab mix. At least that's what the vet comes up with. Demon turns out to be Mikes best friend and as we go along Mike realizes that Demon is way more than just a dog. Mike and his friends who now have a bond are on a roller-coaster of a ride.
Book 2
Demon, Mike, and the gang fight on against the dreaded Haunts. The teen wild bunch band form Demon Inc to pay for the paranormal battles thrust on them. With the SyFy Channel writing checks for exclusives, they go after lost kids and the dreaded Haunts. Scarred by the Haunts and healed with holy water, Mike faces a growing darkness inside him, and unusual powers stumping even his canine partner. It's a new wild ride for the most humorous and deadly teen crew ever assembled, led by Demon, canine Haunt killer extraordinaire.
Book 3
Demon, Mike, and their Demon Inc crew take the dimensional war to the Haunts. Demon and Mike communicate directly with hilarious results, but the darkness within Mike grows after another Haunt wound and holy water healing. Facing Haunt attacks, sexual awakenings, and teenage drama, the kids turn to their sarcastic paranormal pup Demon for rebuke and humor to keep their minds set on survival and victory.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2023I’m glad the first 3 books were together, because I finished each one so quickly, it would’ve gotten monotonous getting to each next one!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2015If you like SuperNatural, I think you will enjoy this Series! I almost didn't buy this because it is listed " young adult", but decided to give the books a try and now I am very glad I did!
The story starts with book one ( Demon ). In it a group of teenagers pretty much stumbled upon a "Demon" dog one Halloween night after exploring a haunted house. The first book was fun to read and I was glad I had the box set, so I was able to move right into book two ( Demon Inc.) and book three,
(Demon at War)..
The only thing I really didn't like was that book 4 wasn't in this set. I will be getting Demon IV: Darkness Rules very soon!
Great job Bernard Lee DeLeo!!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2015Loved this series.. Don't forget book #4!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2016Whatever Mr. Deleo is smoking, I want a bushel of it!
Demon is a great character and the rest of the crew are pretty awesome except for the whiner, Laura. She's pregnant and that's no excuse for her nonsense. Did not like that character at all.
There's great humor and loads of repartee between the dog and Mike.
A thoroughly enjoyable read.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 18, 2019These are totally awesome adventures!! I can’t believe I waited so long to enjoy them. I should have known that they are Bernard Lee DeLeo books how could I have gone wrong? I COULDN’T. HehHehHeh GMR
- Reviewed in the United States on November 10, 2017Awesome series
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2015I read the three-volume boxed set consisting of "Demon," "Demon Inc," and "Demon at War." These stories are so good. I was impressed that I was actually enjoying reading paranormal stuff.
"Demon" begins with a group of teenagers visiting a haunted house on Halloween. They inadvertently release some Haunts and are rescued by a dog. A supernatural dog. Demon.
The group learn what the dog is capable of: killing Haunts. Demon senses the Haunts, even when they have possessed a body. The group, now known as Demon Inc, releases the Haunts from the possessed person and destroys them. When the Haunts are in a building, the team goes in and kills them.
Through experimentation they develop more effective weapons against the Haunts. In addition, Demon Inc rescues some kidnapped children.
There is much more to the stories, but that outlines the central plot. I am ready to get started on the fourth book. If you're looking for something out of the ordinary, I certainly recommend the Demon series.

5.0 out of 5 stars A misleading title
This is listed as book five in the series - IT IS NOT!!! It is actually what the first half of the title says: a box set of books one thru three.
Don't get me wrong; these are excellent stories. (That's why I still give it five stars.) Just don't purchase this expecting a whole new novel because you won't get it. Truthfully I'm surprised that this misleading title hasn't been corrected by now, however perfection is still a long ways off for all of us, not just authors and publishers...
BTW, there actually IS a Demon Book Five. This just isn't it.😉

1.0 out of 5 stars My mistake by ordering the wrong genre.
I gave it 1 star simply because I deleted the whole box set after reading only a few pages.
I must say I have no idea how well these books are written. I bought the box set without reading the sample thinking it was an action adventure series similar to many others that I have read by Bernard Lee DeLeo.
After reading only a few pages, it became clear to me that this box set was a horror genre which is not what I enjoy reading.
For those that enjoy this genre, I highly recommend the author.
