Bed of Nails: (A best friends to lovers, rock star romance) (Sons of Sin Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 497 ratings

They say a man will never be enriched by envy...

I’ve never considered myself a jealous man. Never wanted anything someone else had.

I met Camilla Rivers when she worked for my band, and the chemistry was instant. She’s smart, funny, caring... all the things anyone could want in a best friend. Everything a man could want in a woman.

Until now, knowing she’s with someone else has kept me from going after her, allowing my desire to fester. When I find out he’s a piece of shit, all bets are off.

And I vow to prove jealousy can better a man, after all.

Bed of Nails is book two in the Sons of Sin series. It can be read as a stand-alone but is best enjoyed when read with the preceding book.

WARNING: This book is not for the faint of heart. It will tear your heart out and stomp on it before putting it back together. The characters are not perfect and the heroes are flawed. If you’re looking for sunshine and rainbows, I suggest you try another book. But if you want real emotion with a happily ever after, then you’ve found your book.

For mature audiences only. Please refer to Nola Marie's website for full disclaimer.

Louisiana-born and raised Nola Marie loves spicy crawfish, rock music, high drama, and all the glitter, despite being extremely introverted with a severe case of anxiety. As a child, she preferred her imaginary friends to real ones and fiction to reality, a condition that has lingered and grown, and in 2019, she decided to share the voices in her head with the world.

When she's not writing, she can be found with her nose in some other fictional world or having conversations with people no one else can see, but it's okay. She's a writer ;-)

Feel free to find her and yell about her dramatic character through Instagram or Facebook. She loves to hear from you.

A great story to a new to me author
This is a Rockstar, friends to lovers romance that has some triggers with abuse both physical and emotional as well as some other possible triggers. This was a great read as Nola is a new to me author and this was my first book by her it was very enjoyable. There were a few times where I felt things could have been slightly different or cut back some as I felt things tend to drag a bit but it was still a great read. Def. has a slow burn sort of vibe but considering the story it was to be expected. I may have enjoyed the story more if I read the first book in the series and had a better understanding of the characters but it could easily be read as a standalone without a problem.I will be happily looking for future books by Nola and curious to see where this series is taking us next! Amazing story by a very talented author!

This is the second book in the Sons of sin series. This is about Dane and Cami.
Dane is the guy that will do anything for the once that are close to him. This one has triggers so always make sure to read what the author says in the beginning of a book and if you do have triggers then don't read things that will be hard for you.

This is a really good series that just keeps getting better and better.

I enjoyed this book. It’s not your typical rock star romance and it hits hard on the subject of domestic abuse. Dane is best friends with Cami. He knows something is going on with her NFL boyfriend. Cami refuses to address the issue because she thinks she can “fix” the boyfriend. Dane realizes you can’t force someone out of a situation if they won’t admit there is a problem. The story deals with their friendship and attraction to each other.

I would have given this 5 stars but I feel Dane should have stepped up and got Cami out of the situation once he was aware of the abuse. The abuse scenes were hard to read. If you have ever dealt with abuse this may not be the book for you. Overall it was a good story. I never read anything by this author before, but now I am hooked. I’ve already downloaded the first book in the in the series (I am one of those readers that always seems to start in the middle of a series) and a couple in a different series the author writes.

When you pick up a book within the friends to lovers trope, often, the words constantly remind you that the main characters are friends but you don't feel it. With Dane and Cami, you can sense from the beginning that their friendship is a genuine one. Dane is the dreamy drummer that steals your heart immediately. Cami is that girl who grew up the only girl and with the mindset that she has to stand strong all the time. These two valued their friendship so much that when love snuck up on them, they almost had the exact same reaction which proves how perfect they are. There were moments I wanted to hit the pause button, pull Cami from the page to shake her, and then hug her. However, once I reached the end of the book I realized she was just going through the motions and it was necessary for her growth. I loved this so much, I'm excited for the rest of this series.

This is the second installment of the Sons of Sin series from Nola Marie. Bed of Nails is a friends to lovers story featuring Dane and Cami. Friends to the end but only these two cannot see what is really going on. Dane always the protector and nurturer will do anything for the one's he loves. Cami has a history of picking the wrong guys especially Travis, but wants to see thing through. She is being hurt everyday but thinks she can fix things on her own. Dane has other ideas. Can Dane and Cami eventually see what is right in front of them?
This book has triggers for many people. It deals with both physical and emotional abuse so be aware going in. There is a HEA!
I think everyone needs a Dane in their life. He will die protecting those he loves. Sigh.... You will not be disappointed in this book

To begin, you will need to read the preceding part of this series if you really want to understand the characters in this story. The characters are not initially well-defined so it’s difficult to really get a feel for who they are or why you should care about what they’re doing in the first chapters; there is eventually character development and growth, but it’s a bit difficult to get into. Additionally, this is written in first-person present with point-of-view changes; I never developed any kind of appreciation for reading first-person present and it’s very difficult to write well (so that’s no fault of the author) but it isn’t my personal preference.

I do like the idea of the characters: rock band member and crew member and how that lifestyle can lead to a mentality of impermanence then the struggle of wanting to keep that something/someone. I wasn’t altogether thrilled with the execution, again the writing style was very difficult for me to power through, but I also didn’t really feel for these characters. I genuinely wanted to give up on the reading by the second chapter because even though the writing was done in the first-person, I felt more like I was being dictated to as opposed to reading about and discovering all these potential facets of the characters’ personalities.

All this being said, I very much like the idea behind this story, but it was difficult to try and read for me.

Dane may be added to my Book Boyfriend list. He is one tall drink of water who is strong and protective.

His and Cami’s friends to lovers romance is so swoon worthy. Cami is feisty and vulnerable at the same time and is the perfect compliment to Dane. Her boyfriend Travis is a piece of work who not surprisingly is abusive. To watch Cami, a strong woman, be taken down by him was hard to read and made me want to reach through the book and punch him. I’m glad she ends up with a great guy like Dane.

Good book and I’m so ready for Jake and Cara’s story. That is going to bring the fireworks

How phenomenal was this book? Dane is a man that gives you the rope to hang yourself as much as his patience can bear but when you go too far… and that’s what I love about him. Camilla is headstrong to a fault but when the realization hits her hard…she realizes that having a ‘best friend’ around like Dane is not the worst thing in the world. I loved this book. Well written and definitely recommended. Again, this author never disappoints.

Some people feel it is the staying power of being in a relationship even when there truly is no relationship left. This was another good rock and roll romance that delved into more of today's societal issues. There are a myriad of characters within these novels all equally complex and interesting. Good series. Good Stuff!!

This is my absolute favourite genre rockstars, bands etc and these rockstars have more demons than actual demons do, these rockstars will tear your heart to pieces and slowly put it back together again. The guys cope by taking drugs alcohol and many women but this story is about Dane who has a lot on his plate when he adopted his sister now he is best friends with Camilla who is their bands clothing manager she also has a boyfriend who is abusive Dane doesn’t like the guy and will do anything to protect his friend his woman. I loved this story it’s very emotional and I can’t wait to read book 3 and I definitely recommend this book/ series.

Nola Marie just keeps getting better. Dane is everything a man should be. Cami is feisty and strong but, like all of us, she has weekends and that weakness could prove to be her undoing. One of the things I enjoy most about reading Nola Marie’s work is that past characters always come to visit, so we never really have to say goodbye.

An addictive read which keeps you on your toes. The characters are flawed and yet loveable, the supporting characters are amazing and a family within a family, the story keeps moving and doesn't slack. Sensitive subjects are dealt with respectfully and realistically.
