    Elle E. Kay is an Angel Award-winning Christian fiction author known for her gripping suspense and engaging romance novels. She lives on a hobby farm in Central Pennsylvania with her husband, three dogs, and a variety of farm animals.     THE LAWKEEPERS, a new multi-author series featuring a mix of historical and current-day Lawkeepers.

    Each author involved in the series has a connection to law enforcement in one way or another. Jenna Brandt's husband is a retired police officer while Lorana's brother is a constable. Each author is committed to share stories of faith, hope and love around Lawkeepers who have and continue to sacrifice daily, both past and present, to protect our citizens, both at home and abroad.

    Can Ella really trust Isaiah? Her father gave her away to save himself from jail and before she knows it she’s married to him.
    Isaiah knows she’s scared of him but can he makes her to trust him?
    I love the patience and care Isaiah shows Ella, the way she begins to trust him and grows from a girl into a woman.

    I felt that this showed a lot of promise, but there were several instances where the language was way too modern. The father/daughter reunion was very abrupt, as was the shift from fear to love and desire. A little editing and this book could really shine.

    Ella and Isaiah's story really touched me! The Old West is so different than today, but then again in some ways, there are some of the same problems. Ella is an abused daughter - not unfamiliar in the Old West, I'm sure. When Texas Ranger, Isaiah Hayes, runs after a horse thief (his own horse, I might add!), he comes upon Ella being abused by her father and immediately removes her from the situation by taking her from "the home" - I use the term loosely because the home is really a shack that isn't much! Isaiah makes a rash decision to keep Ella with him and therein begins the story. Ella has never been around many people, let alone men, and I found her innocence and shyness very sweet and touching. She's been abused by her father (whom she still loves for some reason) so long that she doesn't even know how to accept kindness - views it as suspicious - and yet, she can barely speak or whisper to a person. This is not unlike women & children today who are abused. The care that Isaiah uses with her is so tender and caring that I fell in love with him myself! He's in the middle of a big Texas Ranger case that is dangerous but he manages to fit Ella into all of that and make her secure. I really enjoyed this story and I think anyone will that reads it! The characters were great! I love stories set in the Old West - my favorite historical period!

    This story was so sweet. Ella Jamison has been abused by her father. When Ranger Isaiah Hayes follows him back to his cabin to arrest him, he doesn’t expect to find a daughter who he has been abusing. He quickly makes a deal with her father. He will take Ella off his hands, and forget about taking Mr. Jamison to jail for stealing a horse. Mr. Jamison quickly agrees.

    Ella Jamison has lived with her father since her mother died. Her father is despondent over the death of his wife and Ella reminds him to much of her. When a Ranger shows up at the cabin to arrest her father and then agrees to take her away, she doesn’t know what to do. She reluctantly goes with Ranger Hayes as she’s afraid if she doesn’t he will hit her also. What she doesn’t expect is that Ranger Hayes will marry her in order to keep her safe from her father.

    As Ella realizes that Isaiah isn’t the same as her father, she slowly comes to respect and love him, but does he love her in return or did he just marry her to get her out of her father’s control.

    The care and attention that Isaiah gives to Ella to help her to recover is wonderful. He is so caring and doesn’t want to do anything to hurt Ella. He wonders if Ella will come to love him or will she always fear him as she does her father.

    I highly recommend this book to others. Ms. Kay did a great job in telling their story.
