    This book is an intriguing mix of genres—part sci-fi, part fantasy, part mystery, and all exciting. There are so many characters and so much action, including world-hopping, that it took a while to get a feel for the characters. But as I began to untangle individuals and groups, it became a matter of: who do I root for? There are some obvious “bad guys”—saboteurs from Earth with evil intentions, trolls (are trolls ever good?), and various unknowns kidnapping and poisoning characters. But there also several groups of good people, all just doing their own thing, and still at odds with each other. All in all, it’s a great book, and so wide in its scope that it leaves plenty of room (and unanswered questions) for the next books in the series.

    The first in what will be an epic series, is such a gripping page turner. The characters are so vibrant and really engaging. Galindra and Foyle are my favourites but it was difficult to choose given the host of wonderful characters I encountered throughout. I loved the mystery and intrigue that was seemlessly interwoven into the story too. Each world came to life on the page and I loved how diverse and immersive they were. I can’t wait for the next book in this series and highly recommend you check it out!
