    Amanda was minding her own business in her living room when an alien shows up out of nowhere and abducts her. Next thing she knows, she's in an alien prison on an alien world and two immense aliens are fighting to win her as the prize. She fears what either of them will do to her once they win her but she doesn't have a choice in the matter, there's no escape.

    Riker has been in the prison for a while but doesn't take part in the fights that only serve to entertain the guards. But once when he spots Amanda, he knows what will happen to her if some of the other inmates get to her so he decides to fight to win her and he does win.

    Once they are alone he has to make it seem like he's brutal to her and she goes along with the ruse but he really just wants to keep her safe. The worst possible thing that could happen is that Riker would feel protective of her and have his mating instincts kick in which is exactly what happens. But Riker is set to escape this prison and now he can't leave Amanda behind because he knows she's his mate. Once out and on the run, they hide and find shelter but an alien animal happens upon Amanda and she tries to communicate with it. The animal seems intelligent and when Riker comes back from hunting for food, the animal is protective of Amanda. They make friends and this new alien even helps them.

    I really liked this story. It was sweet, scary, action packed and I loved the description of the aliens.

    One of the things I love about this author's books is her ability to write convincing heroes. Her style to write in the third person helps with this, as I've found that many (though not all) female romance writers have issues writing male leads in first person. This isn't the only reason I enjoyed this book, though. I was amused by the title of the series first of all ( if you know, you know) . I also was pleased with the strong characterizations of both hero and heroine. While I completely expected and accepted the tropes of the story, I was still drawn into the hero's caring and clever personality. I really think one of the best things, however, was the introduction of the "spider monkeys" and how just a few paragraphs really highlighted their intelligence and compassion.

    The only reason this book gets 4 stars from me is that it's too short! I expected a resolution, and while we aren't left hanging, I really wanted to see them get their complete HEA. I also hope Ms. Phillips is planning on a story in this series for the bat-like alien we caught a glimpse of in the story. I know the next book will likely be about this hero's brother, and that will tie the books together in more than one way.

    I do recommend this book, and honestly, almost all of her books are excellent SFR and worth the read.

    I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick and easy read with an insta-love, fated mates kind of situation. I really liked the descriptions of the alien men the female MC interacts with. The male MC is very sweet. I love the descriptions of the alien planet and the alien natives were really great. The story was well written.
    I didn't like that I felt like I had read this book before. I thought maybe I had read another book later in the series but that wasn't the case. This exact situation was written in a book by another author. The female MC doesn't ask ANY questions and takes almost everything in stride. This makes the story light and easy but if you are looking for a deep story with emotional angst this isn't for you.
    I do not believe this story ends on a cliffhanger like others have said. It eludes to a HEA but doesn't give it to the reader 100%. I was satisfied with this ending and I HATE cliffhangers.

    I genuinely really loved this book. Mandy and Riker were so cute together. It is a pretty fast paced book but I really enjoyed that about it. I really liked the way they met and how they’re love for each other evolved. Riker was a great Hero and Mandy a great Heroine. It was basically an insta love story but it was very well done in my opinion. The spice was great I’d give it a 2.5/5 🌶️. If you’re looking for an insta love story with a sexy red alien man and a strong but sweet lady that includes a little bit of violence and prison escape drama with some spicy scenes and some really cute scenes definitely give this one a read.

    The fact that there was an indigenous spider monkeyesque population on the planet was really cool. Kiki is one of the spider monkeys and it turns out they are super intelligent beings and she befriends Amanda after her and Rikers escape from the prison and helps them survive. I wasn’t expecting the super cute spider monkeys but they are definitely one of my favorite parts of the story.
    I hope the next book is about Altrez (Rikers brother) cuz I really want to read more about him and hopefully see some more of Riker and Amanda. 😁😁😁

    I liked this book. Not overly steamy but it was a fun quick read and I plan to read the next book in the series.

    There was world building so I did feel like I was in the prison and jungle with them. Maybe not a much as some other alien books but it was there.

    It wasn’t super original but that’s okay, a lot of books aren’t and they’re still good and fun.

    One review I read before reading this said it was dark for this author, this is my first book by this authors so I can’t compare it to their other works, but I would not call it dark.

    I would have liked more information on this whole mating mark that somehow binds them.
