Cyborg Marine Ranger Darken Wolf is coming to Earth to become a law enforcement officer in the post-apocalyptic American West and meet his genetic mate. When he arrives, she is missing.

Gina Malcolm’s best friend points him to Overlord Devlin White, from whom she escaped several years before. Darken steals into the Overlord’s compound to free her, and they flee. Of course, it couldn’t be that easy.

A fighter plane follows Darken’s sky cycle and shoots them down over the New Mexican desert. While the landing was a little rough, the bigger problem is that Darken’s CPU shuts down, and the sky cycle burns along with Darken’s only comm. He is not even sure where they are but decides going North is the best plan. It could be a very long walk.

This is only the beginning as they get acquainted and embark on a life as a couple. All they have to do is survive long enough to share a future together.

    Clarissa Lake grew up watching Star Trek and reading Marvel Comics.     Christine Myers has been a science fiction fan since seeing the original “Day the Earth Stood Still” at age eight. Her favorite subgenre is science fiction romance with interstellar space travel and a bit of space opera. Among the most influential in her work are the Lazarus Long novels by Robert Heinlein including “Time Enough for Love”, and Marta Randall’s "Journey." She loves Star Trek, Firefly, Farscape, and Veteran Cosmic Rockers, the Moody Blues.

    After spending years trying to get her work published by traditional publishers, she discovered KDP and became an Indie Author/Publisher. This means she does it all from writing to publishing.

    America, Canada, and Mexico are largely in ruins after a long war. Brave cyborgs like Darken have volunteered to help rebuild the countries and possibly find their genetic female matches. Darken has been fortunate to find his match in Gina. During the process the cyborg assigned to the area encompassing Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado learns of human trafficking in the area. Finding and rescuing these missing young men and women is dangerous business and loving Gina puts her in the crosshairs. Plenty of action and sexy moments. I am loving this series and really looking forward to reading the next book.

    This was an action packed cyborg romance with just as much action outside as in. With old and new familiar couples. I thought Darken would be more emotionally scarred based oh his history but he wasn’t. And he loved his genetic match Gina. Great read.

    I love this world that has decided to keep it's promises to it's Veteran Cyborgs, and find the genetic mates for them. It will take a long time to form a register of all interested women, and collect DNA samples to find their matches, but the lucky ones are brought together. Who wouldn't want a man, who is a perfect physical specimen, wants only you, and will be so grateful for the kind of gentle touching, and hugging because it really means something to them. Darken had me wiping tears, at how much he loved his mate😢😍. I really loved this book.

    If you have read the first one, Blaze, this one is concurrent. Darken is matched with Gina. On the day are to meet, she is kidnapped. And then the story takes off. Look forward to the next book in series.
