- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2023I liked this book a lot. Priska's sister Alana decided to play matchmaker and sent a full grown man to her for her Christmas present. Let me tell you how funny this book was. Priska and Antoine trying to navigate around the Covid pandemic restrictions all the while Priska's fighting her long time desire for Antoine. And Antoine is trying his best to convince Priska to give them a chance.
I liked everything about this book. From the synopsis to the epilogue. I highly recommend it. It's a quick easy, amazing read.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 5, 2021I loved reading this book. Priska received a surprise gift from her sister who lived in France and it wasn’t an elf on the shelf. She received a man who Priska thought was involved with her sister. She had to learn how to trust her instincts that she could love again. Who better than Antione to teach her.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2020Priska finds her sister’s naked fiancé Pierre in her bedroom as a surprise gift to her. It turns out that it isn’t her sister’s fiancé but his best friend Antione. Antione fell head first for Priska the year prior (after having met Priska in Paris where she was vacationing with her sister) and had been waiting for her broken heart to heal before approaching her. It is still unclear how Priska mistook the two men. This wasn’t explained well in the book.
I wanted to enjoy this book more but it just fell flat. Priska was very quick to judgement and was just too wishy washy.
It felt like the author tried to used creative words for the sex scenes but they ended up being a turn off more than anything. Phrases like slipping him inside my pudenda and massaging his perineum do not entice. For a book that takes place during COVID times and even references quarantining, referring to the head of his penis as his corona was definitely not a turn on.
This one was just average and not my favorite by this author.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2020This author has a way of upsetting me. She dragged this storyline out and I was like why did she do this. But readers, let me tell you just keep reading. I was ready for female character to give in, but know this author would not give me what I wanted. And I am glad she did not. Like always she proved to me why I needed to keep reading. Now, if only my sister would send me this type of Christmas Present. Well done, Author Carolee. - Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2020What a great present. After reading this, I wish I had a sister who would get me a present that nice. This was great story and had a great flow. Wish it was a little longer because it feels like Antoine & Priska have more to say. This book was recommended by UniqueWords, LLC
- Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2020The Forbidden Gift is an okay holiday read. The biggest problem is that the plot is good but the execution turns it from plausible and interesting to far fetched. There were many inconsistencies that were never explained. There are some grammatical errors throughout that could be solved with by a bit of proofreading. Overall, it is a decent book.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 6, 2021Priska received a surprise gift from her sister in France. The gift wasn’t a normal gift it was a nan. Priska had to learn to trust her instincts so she can love and be loved again. I enjoyed reading this book. I wished it was longer overall it was a good read.
I received this book as an ARC book, I have given my honest opinion about the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2021This is my 2nd read by this author and it solidifies it. I'm adding another author who's backlog I must dig into.
