This book is yet another excellent example of the author's ability to bond youto her fascinating characters whilst she weaves her way in and out of theirexciting lives. Her writing is so compelling, it's hard to stop reading onceyou start, and she even manages to make you feel sympathy for some of the 'bad'guys from time to time. A must read, I would recommend this book to anyone whoappreciates great writing.

★★★★Literary Titan reviewSins of Chaos is another suspenseful entry in Shana Congrove's Breedline Series. In this book, the reader follows Abbey as she tries to find and protect her beloved Steven, who is being tracked by Valkin Steele. He wants to use Steven's unique healing abilities to heal his wife. Though he has backed scientists who have run ruthless tests on the Breedline species. While Valkin Steele is a man who deals in drugs and human sex-trafficking, he is not the worst thing the Breedlines have to deal with. Three supernatural beings of dark powers known as the Fury are terrorizing Berkeley and the San Francisco Bay area with a wave of brutal murders.
The first thing that struck me about Congrove's writing style is how easy it is to read, which helps ensure readers are completely engrossed in this fantasy world rather than trying to make sense of it.
Congrove has built a world that is believable and has given it rules that make sense, which is odd to say about a supernatural thriller that leans heavy into paranormal activities is 'believable', but nothing is ever over the top and when it is it's simply entertaining.
As I expected, the characters in the story are uniquely intriguing and fun to follow because of their fascinating quirks. Congrove has a large cast of characters, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as it definitely gives this story more of an epic fantasy feel where a large world is being explored. The story follows multiple characters perspectives, taking readers through various angles of the story, which is helpful to tell a story that has depth but borders on being overwhelming at times. Even with a wide cast of characters I was still able to connect to some of the characters in the story. In their fight with Valkin Steele, I was worried that they were going to lose (I nearly bit my fingernails off) and I was invested in the outcome of the fight. Then near the end when the Breedline Covenant attacks the Furies... ah I don't want to give too much away, but I will say that I like seeing the good guys on the verge of losing to the bad guys because it makes the story more believable and suspenseful at the same time.
Sins of Chaos is a wildly entertaining shifter fantasy novel that reminds me of season 4 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but with a much bigger world and more characters that are easily compelling and fun to follow.

About the author

Thanks for stepping into my fantasy world of the Breedline. I love to share their many adventures. If you love dark fantasy, sci-fi, supernatural, sizzling romance, werewolves, vampires, mystery, thrillers and a little horror ... my books will give it all! I have six series to share: Sweet Chaos, Total Chaos, Unleashed Chaos, Sins of Chaos (2 cover editions), The Immortal, and The Curse. Upcoming books: New editions of Sweet Chaos and Total Chaos, Living Nightmares, and Vampirism in Manhattan.
I've always had a passion for fantasy, romance, and the supernatural world, and my idea of heaven is creating new adventures for my Breedline characters. In 2019, I ranked the second novelist in FanStory.com, where I enjoy sharing sneak peak chapters and receiving feedback. In 2022, I also received the Silver Award in LiteraryTitan. I truly love to interact with new readers on Instagram and Facebook/A Novel of the Breedline Series.
All six Novels of the Breedline are available wherever books are sold online.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2023There is truly something for everybody in Shana Congrove’s Sins of Chaos, part of the Breedline series.
My advice to the reader.. is to put some time aside for this novel because once you get to a certain point in this book? You will be unable to put it down. The adventure and the journey are captivating. The author’s descriptive talents will paint a picture of this narrative, with a bountiful and diverse group of characters that range from everyday cops on the beat.. to Lucifer himself.
Unlike so many novels in the Dark fantasy or ‘Shifters’ genre, this one combines real-world places, people, and relatable things like music and social issues…intertwined into the world of the Breedline – a species of humans born with powers that turn them into a variety of wolf-like creatures. In human form, they take on an array of roles in society. However, as a group living on the down-low, they operate as a connected family, protecting themselves and, thus, shielding the human world from their potentially destructive abilities.
When I tell you that there’s something for everybody - It has romance, mystery, horror, fantasy.. it has a story arc in the paranormal world as several characters, Sebastian and Abbey, deal with past terrors that were inflicted upon them. We get loving and dysfunctional family relationships, a couple of witty angels, comradery, friendship, several incredibly sensual moments, and tense erotic encounters, all highlighted by the pivots between human emotion and the chaotic ‘Breedline’ transitions…
Like I said – It’s all here!
I am most impressed with Shana’s talent for projecting various human personalities onto supernatural characters. Something that isn’t always done in this genre.
And of course… There is a non-stop, roller coaster, multi-dimensional stream of action adventure that climaxes with the ultimate battle between good and evil. This led me to conclude that If fantasy characters are real… a connection to heaven, also reliant on our imagination… is potentially real in the same world.
Full transparency – I am always drawn to movies and television series with stories of this style, but not so much literature until this book. I was so immersed in the intersecting storylines and the connections between characters that I am determined to read the other works in this series.
It’s a five-star sensation!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 8, 2024I read this book a couple of months ago but am just now getting to the review. The book centers around the Breedline, which I understand to be similar to wolf shifters. In the story, a series of attacks are happening in the city, and two detectives are tasked with discovering the perpetrator. They soon uncover the existence of the Breedline and other supernatural beings. Meanwhile, Abbey, a she-wolf, is on the run from a scientist who is searching for her mate due to his healing properties.
I would rate this book 4 stars. It was a really great and fast-paced read with a lot going on. The action is constant, and there aren't any slow-paced parts. Although I started with the fourth book and was confused at times, it didn't affect my overall enjoyment. There were a few grammatical errors, but I was still able to follow the story and understand what was happening. If you enjoy shifter and detective books, you'll likely enjoy this one. I would also state that the author did really well on world building and I was able to see what was happening and what she had created.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 8, 2023I read the entire book in two days, I couldn’t put it down! Kudos to the author, she did an amazing job.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2023Sins of Chaos is the fourth book in the Breedline series, and I have to say, that I think I enjoyed this book almost more than the third book that I started with! It picks up right where Unleashed Chaos left off, and takes you on an action packed adventure that keeps you guessing up until the end! It deals with the topics of guilt, shame, selfless sacrifice and redemption, along with trying to combat human trafficking. The climax of the book surprised me, and I definitely cried at a couple of parts. It really moved me, and I felt that Shana Congrove is really developing into a good author in her works. I'm really looking forward to reading more of her stories, and can't wait to do so!
The romance aspects of the book are again well handled for this typically non-romance girl, they were handled lightly in most instances, except for a couple of scenes which had more descriptions, but they weren't overbearing or overboard for a reader like myself who prefers lower spice levels in books. The emotional content of the relationships feels sincere and sweet, and heartwarming.
The worldbuilding was also on point, and reading about landmarks and locations that I used to live near, and reading about local news stations was almost like being there, since I grew up in the area the books take place in, helps it feels plausible.
I do have to say that there might be people that think that this book might benefit from some trigger warnings, as SA and pedophilia are discussed, and at one point one of the characters is in danger of being assaulted. However, I personally leave that up to the author, as I know many authors do not agree with the readership demand for trigger warnings, and others feel that they have a duty to their readers to warn them about potential triggers. As a reviewer, I'll just let potential readers know about it, and allow them to make their own decisions.
I personally enjoyed it a lot, and would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy, paranormal, romance and action! It will not disappoint!
